A cafe on the steps of the main branch of the BPL, run by local restaurant owner Spencer Rothchild. This open air cafe is brilliant Brooklyn p.r. and a great spot to hang, chew, chat and sip while overlooking Prospect Park. Spencer and company cook up some amazing Mexican inspired treats like guacamole and chips, taco platters like braised short ribs, chipotle chicken, mini white corn cheese quesadillas and much more. Nibbles like homemade potato chips for a buck raise the bar where the nearest joints to eat are blocks away.
I attended the ribbon cutting ceremony today and Mr. Brooklyn himself, Marty Markowitz cut the ribbon with a LARGE scissor. We nibbled on lobster sliders(courtesy of) which at $8.75 for yummy lobster on a soft roll is pretty reasonable. Mexican inspired hummus and crunchy flat bread were tasty and chocolatey brownies. Open book cafe is open for breakfast and lunch and beer and wine are coming soon.
