Oren’s Daily Roast
“The stores feature a nice selection of French presses, coffee mugs, and other coffee-related merchandise.”
“I really need to remember to patronize this location more often on my Upper East Side work days.”
“Seating space is limited but I'm thin and usually only carry a sling bag so I can usually squeeze in and spend some time watching the people walk past outside the window.”

Very convenient location, friendly staff with great service who genuinely seem to enjoy the customers of their hood, and an extensive and delicious-sounding menu of teas and coffee.
Had a tasty iced caramel that had ya boy feeling near-diabetic levels of bliss. The perfect which accompaniment for a lazy stroll through Central.
Screw Starbucks, support local and go here.
Decent coffee, will try their flavored iced coffees next time. no wait, which was a plus. their treats look tastier than starbucks, too.
Convenient , friendly, and its not Starbuck's. Have tried espresso drinks as well as the brewed coffee of the day. EZ in-EZ out. With a chain coffee store every few thousand feet, its nice to go to a "neighborhood" stand alone for a change.
The drip coffee was disappointing. My mother and I each got a cup around 10AM but it tasted hours old. I try to give my business to places other than Starbucks but it's just not worth it sometimes.
I have a soft spot for Oren's. I used to frequent the store near where my office used to be. It was very early on in my career and a very happy time.
They have good coffee and teas – ready made and beans. The service is good and they have cute mugs and coffee paraphernalia.
Great shop, great coffee! Oren's is a great place to buy whole coffee beans or to get your espresso or latte fix. They have a store in Grand Central so I've long been familiar with them but for some reason I only tried them recently. Will be buying beans from them in the future.
Cute shop with lots of mugs and coffee too choose from, but honestly, too expensive. Coffee has just gotten out of control lately.
Found this interesting coffee shop on our way to a breakfast place, which also happens to be a few blocks away from the Metropolitan Museum. No seating area but little various items (adorable dog mugs) and healthy snacks for you to look at while you wait.
Their small cappuccino ($4.50) and small latte ($3.50) tasted almost similar, if not identical to each other. Caps are usually lighter in weight and stronger in taste than the latte but at this place, we were only able to differentiate it by the weight. Either way, their coffee beans are smooth in taste (neither bitter, sour nor sweet), which fooled us from thinking that they're not that strong. The coffee ended up being way stronger than we initially thought. Great!
If you're close to the Met and looking for a strong coffee shop nearby, I would suggest walking a few blocks out to check out this place. Friendly people too.
