Ordered a chocolate donut with peach jam. Tasty overall, but not so much peach flavor; rather, it tastes like apricot. And I recommend regular donut instead of chocolate, because the chocolate was just loosely attached to the donut and when I bit it, it fell off into pieces. Plus the chocolate is a little sweet – cheap sweet – and has not much chocolate flavor.
$4.25 each is a bit pricy for this little donut.
Came for the donuts & they did not disappoint. I ordered the chocolate cake glazed donut, the chocolate with black raspberry filling, and the sugar with strawberry. The cake donut was just OK, definitely good but a bit heavy and the glaze too flakey, if that makes any sense. The filled donuts are SERIOUS and HEAVY but they are so delicious you can almost forget the insane amount of calories you are ingesting. I don't know how anyone would eat one in it's entirety but I certainly enjoyed my piece! They do not skimp on the jelly & the donut itself was delicious. The chocolate glaze is pretty thick on top – making it even sweeter.
I arrived early on Saturday & the two guys working were chatting with customers & being very friendly. The space is cute but small. By the time I left there was a whole four people and it was a bit cramped (one did have a stroller). The bread looked & smelled delicious! I was only here for the donuts but would like to go back for the bread. In the meantime, I encourage everyone in NYC to try these freshly-injected jelly filled donuts. SO. GOOD.
HOLY JAM! I am a huge jam fanatic, HUGE! Like Joey Tribbiani love for jam HUGE. I also love donuts so when I saw that Orwashers pride themselves in fresh jam in their donuts, I knew I had to give it a go.
At $4.25 for a donut, I got the sugar donut with red raspberry jam. Although a bit pricey for a donut, it was worth it. The donut itself was yummy. Soft and doughy all around. The star was definitely the jam, the stuffed in, plentiful jam. Every bite I took had jam. It had the perfect balance of sweet and tart, full of that fresh raspberry seeds. The jam literally oozed out as I got to the middle. So goooood.
I definitely want to go back and try every flavor of jam and basically everything else they offer.
We came here for the chocolate donut with black raspberry jam – it was really good.
We also bought some challah, and that was good too.
I'm not usually a big fan of jelly-filled donuts but damn, these are good. I got one with black raspberry jam and one with strawberry. I highly recommend the black raspberry one! It was soo good. I also tried the chocolate cake donut which is usually my favorite. I would not get that one again from this place because it pretty mediocre and disappointing.
Even if you're on the fence about jelly-filled donuts, I would highly recommend trying this place because I'm really glad I did!
Come here for donuts!!! They fill the donuts with yummy jam right in front of you so they're super fresh. They have like 6 flavors and they're all delicious. I wish this place wasn't so far from my house because I'd be here every day!
I'm usually not a fan of jelly-filled doughnuts, but damn, I really liked theirs! I got a peach filled chocolate doughnut, and they don't joke when they fill it. It was really heavy with all the oooey, gooey peach-jelly goodness. I really liked that it wasn't that sweet and the peach jelly seemed to have real peaches in it. It's legit peach jelly (or maybe peach preserves may be a more apt term because jelly makes me think of something that is chock full of sugar).
However, their regular cake doughnut was kind of a disappointment…It was crumbly a dry. I think that I'll stick to their jelly filled doughnuts next time! Or perhaps try some of their other items, like their breads.
I've heard about this place for a while and it has a really cute layout and the variety was pretty great, I can only comment on the donuts and the rainbow cookie but the donut was kinda underwhelming. Also, I am not normally one to say anything about price, since the rent in NYC is crazy expensive, but I thought $4.25 for a single donut was absurd.
The food:
Rainbow Cookie- I enjoyed these, they were made well and the flavor was good. I would get this again but they were like $5 and change for a 1/4lb.
Black Raspberry Chocolate Donut/Red Raspberry Sugar Donut- First, both doughnut fillings were good, they were bursting with flavor and had a nice tartness. I wasn't so crazy about the donuts themselves, they kinda felt too simple and not a lot of flavor nor texture. I did prefer the Chocolate donut over the sugar donut, though. Best way to put it, it was kinda like having amazing lox on a subpar bagel.
