This is a decent Italian restaurant in the middle of midtown east on a busy 42nd street. From outside it appears it to be small and a family owned restaurant but once you step in you realize that its a fairly large establishment. they have a decent selection of wines to choose from. I have tried their lasagna, lobster pasta. Although nothing is exceptionally awesome to take home about but at the same time its not at all bad. Usually the food is consistent at 3 stars. which in a way is good coz folks who are repeat customers get exactly what they want every time.
We stopped by at the strange hour around 3pm for a late lunch. We were immediately seated and given menus and fresh bread. The different breads were excellent.
I chose the spinach ravioli and the bf got the lasagna. Both were solid options and decent portions.
We found the service attentive and friendly and really enjoyed our meal. For lunch, we did find the prices a bit high, but the meal was very good.
Cute little place just far enough away from the crowds at Grand Central, 5th Ave, and Times Square. We eat at least one Lunch or dinner here when we stay at the Hilton Manhattan East one block away, and I imagine people cross the street from the Westin too. High quality food at reasonable prices. Attentive and friendly staff. Big fans of the traditional yet light lasagne that arrives in a deep dish with sauce and cheese still bubbling. Dress and decor is upscale casual.
I like the food but the service can definitely use some improvement. Came here for a business lunch, sat down, was handed a menu and shortly after a caprese salad. We assumed it comes with the table or some kind of special and started eating it. Ten minutes later our main waiter arrived and asked if we ordered it. We said no. He looked annoyed and walked off presumably to yell at the guy who brought it to our table. A few minutes later he came back again and asks if we would have ordered it had it not be brought to us. What kind of question is that? Like, can I charge you for our mistake? No? Fine. He continues to be annoyed and comes over to take our order. We ask to hear the specials which he forgot to mention. At the end of my meal (which was good but very filling) I asked for the remainder of my pasta and brussel sprouts to go. Upon returning to my office I checked the bag and it looks like they remembered the pasta but forgot the brussel sprouts. Get your act together Osteria Laguna!
Came here for dinner with a coworker and thought Osteria Laguna would be a decent option, and it was. The ambiance is nice, we came for early dinner when it was half empty, but later into the evening it got quite full on a weekday evening. I had squid for appetizer, which was delicious, linguini with clams, also very tasty. Creme brulee for dessert was good too. Prices are high here and if it wasnt for the fact that this meal was expensed I would probably not have enjoyed it as much! My coworker from out of town who was paying looked at the bill and said – wow this was expensive! My response; Meh, its Mitown, whatcanyoudo! With that being said, dinner was good and Im by no means an expert in Italian cuisine, but if you know your Italian food, I am sure you can find better, cheaper and bigger portions not too far away.
Our office used to have lunches here when we were located in the area.
The décor is wonderful, and we've never had any problems with the service.
Personally, however, I've been a bit underwhelmed by the food. It's not bad. It's just that I've had better, and less expensive, Italian food at other places, with bigger portions.
Again, I'm not saying that this a bad place. It's basically an average Italian restaurant with Midtown prices.
My family and I had christmas dinner here, we were lucky to find a place that was not full of tourists and open on christmas.
They were very accommodating. We had a bottle of wine and he recommended a great white wine, it was full and just a bit fruity.
I had the simple pomodoro pasta, but it was tasty. Everyone else enjoyed their pastas and lasagnas.
I have been here twice and both occasions were great! I work directly across from here so the convenience factor is sweet alone. This place has a great dim lit ambience to it and would recommend for a date if a little more upscale is the aim. They have delicious steak tartar and the portions are just right! I always recommend this place to anyone in the area. A friend of mine went on my suggestion with her family and she was floored by the experience. Check it out!
