  1. After a busy day, my boyfriend and I came here for dinner. We haven't had dinner at Outback in a year or two, so we were pretty excited about it. When we came in, the male hostess was very nice and told us the wait for two would be 20-25 minutes. It actually seemed to be maybe 10 minutes, so we were happy! Our waitress Renata was very friendly, fast and accommodating. She immediately noticed when we were out of water and served us with a smile. We ordered the famous blooming onion, which was good. It wasn't overly fried or soggy, it was crisp and crunchy. My boyfriend ordered a steak which he wanted to be medium rare, and it came out rare. He didn't mind, he ate it anyway. According to other Yelp reviews and my experience, they seem to get it wrong when it comes to cooking meat to the customer's preference. I had the standard chicken fingers, they were good. Food wasn't bad at all. We enjoyed it. However, this review is only four stars because both restrooms in the restaurant were a disgusting mess. The woman's bathroom was entirely out of toilet paper, except for one roll. Soap was all over the sinks and so was water. Paper towels were on the floor and the baby changing station was messy, with liners also all over. My boyfriend said the men's bathroom had urine all over and water on the sink, along with paper towels on the floor. Pretty gross!

  2. I've been here on two occasions with my parents, and my aunt, uncle and their son (my cousin).  I had never been to Outback before and before I ever ate here, I thought it was just a bar or local after-party hangout. The first time we ate here, our experience was quite good and we were more or less happy that my aunt and uncle took us here. However, this second time, just two days ago, was different.

So although the food is really quite good and I loved my mouth-watering 12 ounce steak and shrimp on the barbie with rice/carrots and mashed potatoes, what I and my family did not love was the criminally long wait time for the 6 of us to be seated. We did know that on a Saturday night at around 6pm, the place is going to be packed. If anything, it would be foolish to go there at that time, but many of us were hungry and we had preferences. We arrived there at around 6pm, and I asked the stupid teenager working there how long the wait time would be. He told me that it would be about 45 to 55 minutes, and I told him to put our name down for a party of 6. We waited for that time with the little buzzer thing in my hand. We were told about the call ahead option that we didn't know about, but you still have to wait a while.

After that time had passed, we were getting annoyed and I asked him again. He then told me that it would be another 40 minutes or so, and we said to him "that's what you told us 40 minutes ago when we got here"…he then made up some idiotic non-existent shorter time frame to compensate for the fact that he AND all of the other employees cannot know how long the wait will really be, and the fact that they don't TRY to know. That annoyed us all even more and we were discussing whether or not we were going to leave, but my dad, uncle and I wanted steak, so we stayed. My mom was not amused however, as she is not a fan of these big franchise chain restaurants that are poorly managed.

We were kept waiting for another 40 minutes to an hour and it is amazing to me that we stayed. Our thought was that we had waited this long, and there were at least people leaving the restaurant when they were finished eating, so we were at least moving down the list. It would be silly to leave. However, the dumb teenager would say to us that the people at the table for 6 that we were meant for were paying the bill and then that the wait staff had to clean the table. Well, it took an awfully long time to pay the bill and then to clean the table. Finally after we were almost ready to strangle the hostess and the other stupid teenagers working there, we were seated.

Although the food is good at places like these, this is no way to run a business. This location needs to be managed a lot better, and employees need to know how to do their jobs efficiently. Hiring the local high school kids for a cheap buck is not the way to do it.  Unfortunately, this time around, we remember the horrific wait time more than we remember the food. We will definitely be trying the location in Wayne, Paramus or on Route 46 before coming back here.
