The gluten free pistachio cardamom bread is amazing and I was so excited when I found out their granola is gluten free also! $6.50 was a little pricy for a yogurt and granola, but it was so incredibly delicious I didn't mind. It's a really big serving also. My non-gluten-free coworker loved it too! Thankfully I'm just here for work, otherwise my waistline would grow and my wallet would shrink! I will definitely keep this spot in my travel list for future reference. Urban Space had a ton of other gluten free options which is awesome.
So obsessed with the salted peanut butter cookie! It's the salty and sweet marriage of my dreams, plus peanut butter goodness in every bite. Everything I love packed in a dense, thick, cookie no wider than two and an a half inches in diameter.
You can get a punch card for an 11th free cookie on them!
I have also tried a few other baked goods here – the pumpkin olive oil cake was decent but not amazing. The peanut butter cookies is the exceptional here.
P.S. My colleague seems to believe the salty-and-sweet tooth is a female thing – I am inclined to declare it a human thing, but so far cannot find examples of guys I know who love it as much.
I got a tip from another diner to try the brownies at Ovenly while dining at Urbanspace Vanderbilt. He said the cookies at this place are not worth trying, but they do have real milk for you to enjoy with your cookies. I ordered the Salted Caramel brownie, it's $3.75. The brownie was good, it's rich, gooey and refreshing with the salted caramel added. It's definitely a great idea to grab a dessert here after eating at one of the places at Urbanspace Vanderbilt or after a happy hour next door.
Honestly, I really like Ovenly and am happy they have brought their fairly popular Brooklyn baked goods to Manhattan.
While I don't think these are hands-down the best baked goods you can snag in NYC, I do think they are well worth a stop by anyone who happens to visit Urban Space Vanderbilt.
Over the years I have tried a lot at Ovenly, and coming here again today I was reminded that the salted peanut butter cookie and the chocolate truffle cookie are the two best things here. I do like the salted chocolate chip cookie. but it is a little overhyped and definitely not my favorite chocolate chip cookie in the area by a long shot (Sup, Culture Espresso)
However, what sets Ovenly apart from somewhere like Culture is that they do so much so well. Like, I haven't even tried a fraction of what this place has to offer and I am sure I am missing some cold 5-star eats. Culture, meanwhile, only has that chocolate chip cookie.
So, with all that said, definitely give this place a go. It is easily one of the best bakeries in the entire area and straight up smokes anything you can snag in Grand Central.
The customer service was good. As for the food, a chocolate baked item was pretty good, the chocolate chip cookie not so much impressive–I tossed half of it. The good news is they use real ingredients, not junk, but I wish their products were a bit better tasting.
