I was around the area today looking for a place to grab something sweet. Since I am unfamiliar with the area, I yelped a place near me and this bakery was right across the street!
I'm so glad I was able to find out about this place.
There is plenty of street parking available here. I came around 12pm and already the eclairs were all sold out. There were a couple Linzer tarts left and a few almond horn cookies left.
My BF lovessss almond horn cookies- so I got him one. He LOVED it so much he couldn't stop eating them! He said they were the best tasting almond horn he has ever had. I also bought a Linzer tart (raspberry) and the jelly donut. The jelly in both the Linzer tart cookies and the donut is fresh. It was so flavorful. Seriously the best tasting jelly donut and Linzer tarts I had.
The staff there was also super sweet! I can't wait to come back again. I may even end up being a regular.
If you're around the area, try this place out!!
Lived close to this bakery all my life. They always have beautiful displays outside that draw you into the store. They have solid cakes but everything else I feel like I've either made it myself or paid for it at a more affordable price elsewhere. It is very convenient to get to since it is on the corner of the 104th st A train. Then you can go across the street to the duane reade and get some milk with your cookies.
This local old time German bakery is conveniently located on the Lefferts Boulevard extension of the A train. It has been family owned and operation for nearly a century. The interior is very dated with an old fashion bread slicer and other equipment. I purchased one cheesecake to a holiday gathering with my newly acquired in-laws. Their cheesecakes are not moist. The quality of their pastries are okay but not extraordinary. The decor is very dated to the 1960's as the floor circular ceramic tiles are black and white.
This is a good local bakery. The crumb cakes are fresh and the cheese buns are good (the hubby is addicted). Their rainbow cookies are okay but not as good as others I have had. The hubby says their jelly donuts are the bomb, but I am going to have to take his word for it. My daughters are huge fans of their cupcakes.
The italian bread is very thick and crusty and delicious. I also had an italian cookie which was nice and buttery. My hubby had a coconut danish and he was happy. They were pretty friendly with us. No issues here.
The filled crumb cakes are to die for. By far one of my favorite bakeries. Love the old time feel of the place too. And the cheap prices.
