“We also had a rabbit pasta dish, and even though I didn't love the shredded chicken texture of the rabbit, the flavor of the sauce was amazing.”

“My favorite was the Charred Octopus appetizer, cooked and seasoned to perfection.”

“The pasta noodles in both dishes seemed fresh and were definitely al dente.”

  1. On a recent trip to NYC for the holidays my fiance, friends, and I stumbled upon this place. The atmosphere was super chill and quiet which was nice. We all ordered a different meal and all of us seemed pleased. I had a great little pasta dish that left me super full and happy. We didn't drink but the bar looked like it could be a cool place to hang out for a few drinks.

  2. Pagani hosted my firm's company holiday party last night and we had such a wonderful experience!  The back room was perfect for our 12 person group, semi-secluded and cozy.  Our four course meal was absolutely delicious and everyone seemed thrilled with their choices, even our two gluten free guests.  Some of our favorites included: butternut squash and lentil soup, gemelli pasta with mushrooms and arugula, and the ricotta cheesecake.  Sergio was extremely helpful during the planning process and Enzo took great care of us on the night of the event.  Overall, I had a great experience at Pagani and would highly recommend it to anyone hosting a group dinner party.

  3. I came here on a Sunday afternoon for a birthday bash in a nice, reserved room in the back. It was a little dim for my liking, but very intimate. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. They served mimosas, bellinis and bloody marys. I only tried the mimosas which were pretty good. As it was a planned party, there was a preset menu. I ordered the poached egg polenta which was disappointing due to the bland taste. The side orders of potatoes and bacon was better than the main meal.

I think I just ordered the wrong item, because based on the other pictures and yelp reviews, I am sure it is an impressive restaurant. Unfortunately (but fortunately) there are just too many other restaurants in the same area that will make it hard to return to this restaurant.

  4. First things first: they take reservations for brunch! Not that you need one if you're planning on swinging by at 12 or earlier – Pagani was still three-quarters empty when we came in at 1, and didn't fill all the way up until around 1:30.

Second: $2.89 mimosas and bloody Mary's, on account of the fact that it's located at 289 Bleecker. Very cute and very effective.

They've got all your standard brunch items from pancakes to eggs Benedict to omelettes. If you love eggs, you'll definitely love Pagani's variety of egg dishes: spinach cup baked eggs, poached eggs in tomato sauce, and steak and eggs. I changed my mind at the last minute and ordered the spinach, goat cheese, and asparagus omelette, which came with mixed greens and the most delicious, fluffiest whole wheat biscuit and honey butter. I could have eaten three more of those biscuits. My friend's chestnut banana gluten-free pancakes tasted strangely mealy and crumbled at the slightest poke

NEXT TIME: a side of the biscuits slathered in honey butter

  5. awesome happy hour! great wine selection, delicious appetizers are great prices, and despite the crowd at the bar, we got really good service! Oysters for $1 – I'll come back here any day just for that! We also came here during NYC Wine Week which explained the huge crowd at Pagani. The hostess was slightly dismissive, almost rude, but our waitress was warm, friendly, accommodating, and took good care of us. When happy hour was almost ending, she made sure to come by and get our second round orders in so we could take advantage of the price. Dim lighting, good decor, and clean bathrooms – that mixed with everything else that we ate and drank that night makes for a good place for happy hour. Just make sure you come early, snag a table by the window or a seat at the bar so you can avoid the rude-ish hostess and you'll have a grand time that's easy on the wallet.

  6. My colleagues and I came here recently on a Wed night to have a ladies night out. Apparently on Mon and Wed they do a family style menu which allows you to have bigger plates to share so we lucked out on that.

Even though there was 3 of us, we ordered all the dishes for 2 which gave us a broader array of food to try out. Started with the kale salad and the octopus- both were great and was enough for us to share. For pastas, we tried the pappardelle and tagliatelle- the latter was just ehhhhhs but the pappardelle was delicious!!! We also had a bottle of red wine between the 3 of us which was the perfect amount.

I heard they have a great HH so if I get out of work on time, I'm definitely going to return to try that out.

  7. The boy and I found this place after we realized the Ethiopian place we had our eyes on (injera), only takes cash or Amex.

Here's the quick rundown of the ordering.

One fantastic bottle of Pinot recommended by our waiter
Two appetizers – a charred octopus and a chicken liver
Two salads – one white, one beet
Two pastas – Rigatoni with rabbit, Ricciatelle with mushrooms
    Gelatti and Sorbetti to share

The boy doesn't like red wine, but even he liked this red. I love red, white, pink, etc, but I loved this wine.

So everyone is right about the charred octopus. It's pretty bomb dot com.
Everyone, however, is missing out on the chicken liver toasts. They are smooth and rich, with the creamy flavour of liver that I love, without any of the grittiness that ruins some dishes. Really, it's probably the best chicken liver toast I've ever had.

Both me and the boy wanted to order the white salad. Being a gentleman, he let me have it and got the beet salad, the obvious second choice. Of course, being us, we shared them both anyways, and to be honest the beet salad won. I'm a sucker for beets.

The two pastas were both delicious. I personally preferred the Ricciatelle with mushrooms, the sauce – it was rich and light and creamy and perfect. The pasta noodles in both dishes seemed fresh and were definitely al dente.

There's a lot of happiness to be found here. Come and get it!

  8. Came here for my birthday dinner party, reserved a private room for 13 people on a Saturday night, starting at 7pm. The overall experience was very smooth and pleasant, we had a great night.

I started researching for restaurant a month before the party, contacted a few places via their website, Cesare at Pagani replied back to me right away, most of other places took 3-5 days to reply to my initial request. Cesare was awesome, not only he was very responsive, he really wanted to make sure that I got what I want for the party and that we will have a good time.

Unlike some other restaurants, there is no reservation fees or ridiculous minimum consumption for private room. Yes, you still have to choose a set menu among 3 (which still gives you some choices for different starters, main courses and desert), but it is all very reasonably priced.

The private room we had was lovely, just the right amount of space for 13 people, we could sit comfortably and still keep it intimate.

Food came up relatively fast, we had a selection of appetizers served as family style, then each person can choose their own starter, main course and desert. Most of dishes came out perfectly, especially the appetizers and desert. The only thing is some people's main course was either not very well cooked or the quantity is very small….smaller than the other people who ordered the same thing on the table. One of my friends had to send back her fish, but the new one came back was perfect. So I think they just had too many people to serve at the same time (the restaurant was also full that night), so the kitchen probably couldn't handle it.

The service was really good, our waitress was very patient. As we are a big table, it wasn't easy.

I love this place and will certainly come back again!
