“I forgot to mention, we did order the Tiramisu, and I'm not a huge fan of Tiramisu in general, but it was pretty good, big slice too.”

Absolutely spectacular interior.
The ambiance of this place was immaculate.. Once you head back into the sky room garden that is, the rest of the interior was just nice.. I went with a group of friends here for a birthday dinner and the service was great, our waiter was very detailed on the menu and attentive to us.
Unfortunately we didn't get to sit in the garden room, but I suppose that didn't really matter to me much since i wasn't there for a date occasion.
The food had a nice range of exotic and classy course dishes like rabbit, lamb, and lobster pasta. Our friends ordered the rabbit appetizer which was very full of flavor but comes off a bit pricy at 30 bucks. And the lobster pasta that I personally felt was just an over hyped tasting buttery spaghetti.
The lamb pasta though was pretty flavorful, and the fish soup is generous in size and comes out looking like a pot pie on crack. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back here with a pretty girl across my table and glass of wine next time. Just be sure to reserve yourself a table ahead of time, and ask for the sky garden room! It's definitely worth it.
I wish I could give Palma 5 stars but they missed the mark a few times during our meal.
Five of us went there on Easter Sunday for brunch (for my dads birthday). We got seated in the back garden which was so nice. It was loud, but a nice conversational loud. The ambience and flowers everywhere made it so nice to be sitting there and enjoying the afternoon. They had a special Easter menu and their regular menu, as well. We started off with some mimosas which were good but nothing to rave about.
For small plates: we ordered the meatballs which I loved (5 come in an order). The cauliflower was as good as everyone on here says too. They had a new scallop dish which was like a ceviche. I am normally into the ceviche/raw fish meals but I was not too impressed and it was way overpriced for the amount of food it was.
We finished our appetizers and ended up waiting sooooo long for our main courses that the waitress brought over some special Easter bread which was a nice gesture.
Finally, we got our meals and they were so inconsistent. The two of us that ordered pasta LOVED IT. It was so fresh and delicious that I just wanted more and more. Three people in our party ordered the eggs Benedict and it was cooked so inconsistently: two of them were great and one was cooked to a point that it resembled a hard boiled egg and not a poached egg. That meal got replaced and removed off of our check which we appreciated.
For the birthday boy, they brought over a slice of cake too which we didn't expect.
Overall, I can tell that this place is a gem and is supposed to be great and the Easter busy-ness probably caused some of our mishaps. The service is really great and they make sure that you are happy and attended to the entire time you're there. I definitely want to come back for dinner to see this place in a different setting.
Amazing Staff!
Made a reservation here through OpenTable for my fiance's birthday with surprise guests. On the day of, a schedule change needed to happen and unfortunately OpenTable showed no times available. I called directly and was able to speak with Enzo who happily switched our reservation for an earlier time. I was so grateful!
When dinner time rollerd around, the two other guests had arrived earlier and were able to be seated first while I waited outside for my fiance. I came in with a cake and they were able to store it for me even though I completely forgot to tell them ahead of time!
Dinner was great, the atmosphere was perfect and the staff was just lovely. I was able to meet Enzo in person and thank him for adjusting our reservation and just being a super nice man 🙂
Our waiter, Adnan was very upbeat and on the move and he was able to have our cake cut up and brought out with no fuss. We also offered him a piece which I'm super glad he accepted! We got to take the rest home and he packed it for us too. We enjoyed our dishes, the chicken milanese, fettucini with mushrooms and truffle, the duck ragu and the steak. We also had the arrancini balls and the baby artichoke. Adnan recommended a drink that was fruity and rose accented which I really enjoyed (it was sour and citrus-y if you're into that).
They had a nice bar in the front and a very romantic setting with dim candlelight. They also have this lovely garden seating which made you feel like you were outside at a rustic wedding, but it wasn't cold because they had heaters blasting 🙂 There also looked like there might have been an upstairs area for bigger groups.
I would definitely recommend this place! It's a bit hard to find parking and the traffic is insane, but I found a spot quickly around 7pm and the train is not far.
Thank you so much to Enzo, Adnan and the super friendly staff for a wonderful evening!
Enjoy! 🙂
I first came here around 2 years ago, so was overdue a return visit.
Now I'm a resident of Manhattan, what seemed 'cramped' now becomes 'cosy'.
What seemed 'noisy' now becomes 'atmospheric' and thus so it was with Palma, it was significantly better than I remembered it to be, simple and superb Italian food in 'cosy' and 'atmospheric' surroundings.
My advice, keep it simple here and the quality of the ingredients and cooking comes to the fore…simply delicious pasta.
I won't be leaving it 2yrs to my next visit.
one of my favorite restaurants in NYC! Best to make reservations as this place is very busy. The food and service is just outstanding. Had the starter special – Burrata cheese and prosciutto- the cheese was so fresh and just the right size. Followed that up with the pasta special and again was not disappointed. Its a charming place, has a outdoor area in the back and you can also eat at the bar in the front part of the restaurant (i was alone – so that was perfect for me!).
Casual brunch spot in the West Village with the nicest outdoor patio area.
Food was good.
Decor was amazing.
So many beautiful fresh flowers.
Highly recommend if you feel like having a side of beauty with your benedict.
Palma is consistently great. From the food to the drinks to the service. You won't be disappointed. Be sure to try the meatballs and burrata to start.
Food and drinks averaged to be 3.5 star and our servers were friendly and welcoming. The reason why I downrated it to 3 star was because of the slow service. We were notified upon arrival that there would be about 15 min after we place our order, but the actual wait was way beyond that. (FYI, if you want to sit in the garden, be sure to make a reservation.)
I got the Aperol Spritz cocktail ($10) on the Brunch menu, which was recommended by our server. He was Italian and told me this is a classic Italian drink that has a little bitterness. My friend ordered La Vie en Rose ($14) on the regular wine & cocktail menu that has a rose petal floating on it. We waited for about 10-12 min for our drinks to come, but they mistook my friend's drink with something else and it was another 15 min for my friend's drink to arrive. While waiting, we ate up their complementary bread. The olive oil imported from Italy that came with the bread was really good, fresh and fragrant, and definitely tasted different from any here in the States. We both didn't like our drinks very much. Mine was really watery and has champagne in it, for which I'm not a big fan.
Then about 6 or 7 min later, our main courses arrived. We shared the French Toast ($14), and respectively, I had the Italian Spinach Frittata ($16, and to me it was just quiche without cheese) and my friend tried the Fettuccine ai Fungi ($19). The portion was ample and the taste was good, but NOT great NOR impressive. For my plate, there was some greens salad and a couple baked fingerling potatoes that came with the spinach frittata. I liked the potatoes, lightly salted crispy skin covering fluffy and soft flesh. The French Toast was delightful, very fluffy and pillowy, yet the outside was nicely burnt.
We then decided to share a dessert and go for the Italian classic Tiramisu. My gosh, that was the longest wait I've ever had for brunch. 30 minutes, just for a dessert that's been made already. We didn't rush them, because the garden patio were pretty packed. But I just couldn't stand it anymore, so I called our waiter and asked him how long we have to wait. Guess what? He was like, "Oh right, the tiramisu." And he turned to grab us dessert forks. Apparently, he forgot our order and we just wasted 30 min of our time!!! We felt a little better when we had the first bite of the tiramisu. It was really rich and flavorful. Very clear liquor and coffee taste, while the mascarpone cheese stayed in our mouth. Very pricy, though. $11 for a small piece.
Ambience and interior design are great and lovely, especially the garden patio (this is the reason we chose this place). But they have the yellow canvas hanging overhead to block the direct sunshine, so the whole garden was yellow-toned.
We came around 12:45 and left the restaurant at 2:20-ish. I don't remember the food or drink that much but only the long wait for our dishes. I think they are short of kitchen staff, which has caused the long wait, since they have at least 4 server in the garden that has about 9-10 tables.
