A very strong Thai place. There are seven thousand thai places in Hell's Kitchen, and this is one of the very best. Authentic thai dishes as well as the classics done correctly. The Thai beef jerky is outstanding. The seafood dishes and the various thai salads are quite good. Definitely coming back here.
Just as the name indicated, it's REAL Thai! Everything is sooooo authentic! And if me as an asian talking is not convincing enough, I got many supports from my Thai friends too!
Mango whole fish is my favorite of all
Times! All things are good!
This is not one of the fancy places you take your future (hopefully) boyfriend or girlfriend for dating, but definitely a good to go for close friends who don't care about how it looks but how it tastes!
And they have upstairs for more ppl!!
Waiters are good looking too
By cutting the salt, Pam Real Thai could so easily become Pam Terrific Thai. The food is seasoned well; you can taste, lemongrass, tamarind, galangal, garlic, chilli etc. all blending to produce great complexity of flavor in the mouth. Unfortunately, it seemed as if the cook was either sweating too much during the heat wave because all our dishes were marred by the addition of too much salt or sauces that had too much salt. The papaya salad had a nice crunch, was fresh, but the was over the top with the nam pla that diminished the taste of the vinegar. The chicken satay, marinated and moist, was also too salty. Even the dipping sauce had too much salt. And my shrimp pad kee mao, while fragrant with all the spices, would have been a very good dish had the cook lowered the saline level. Water was gulped by the two of us in copious quantities. My other gripe about the pad kee mao was that they need to add more rice noodles, which isn't expensive at all. The cook also wasn't patient enough to fully cook the onions, eeck. I been to Pam Real Thai about twice before, over the years, and I don't recall the food being that salty so perhaps it was the effect of the heat wave on the cooks. I wish they would snack on potato chips and moderate the salt quantity in their food. The ambience here is practically nonexistent, unless you find the huge poster of Pam, the owner I guess, fascinating. At least she has a huge grin there as she watches over the diners eating.
The food is pretty delicious. I came with my cousin and we tried:
-Curry Puffs
-Chicken Satay
-Ox Tail Soup
-Green Curry with Pork (with rice)
-Thai Tea
Probably the best of these was the Ox Tail Soup, which has a very bright citrusy broth that unites well with the beef bone. It almost tastes like Pho, but not. Thai Tea was on point, as well as the curry puffs, chicken Satay, and Green Curry. Service was also excellent. Waiters were prompt and friendly, and they really gave the vibe that they're trying to run an honest and family-feel like business.
It's the portions that got me: so small… _
We ordered like 4 different items, and still, I'd say I was pretty hungry. But by then we had dropped close to $50 after tax and tip. Green curry portions were prettttttty meager I must say, as well as the everything else.
Unless you're a small woman who gets full eating half a bagel, be aware that you may have to shell out some bucks to have a decent portioned meal. While I really enjoyed the food taste and service, I give 4.5 stars for taste, 2 stars for portions.
Please Pam Real Thai, may I have some more? 🙁
I bookmarked Pam Real Thai for quite some time now and today I finally made my way over. Let me first say; I am a huge fan of Authentic Thai food and this place for sure hit the spot.
This is no fancy spot where you can take to impress your guest or lover, but the food here is definitely worth showing off. The restaurant interior was pretty basic, but besides that, I'm all in when it comes to mouth watering spicy foods.
-Oxtail soup was amazing. Packed with different spices and flavors. So delicious.
-Fermented fish kidney curry is legitimately a Thai dish. The server informed us that the dish is pretty potent but that wasn't a problem at all. It contained shrimp, eggplant, bamboo, etc.
-Fried whole fish was my least favorite. On the bright side this dish is covered in mangos. YUM!
Prices are reasonably. Especially in HK. I cannot wait to go back and try some of their other dishes!

Fried Curry Puffs
stuffed with ground chicken, diced onion, potato and aromatic of fresh cumin, served with cucumber sauce
(2 Pcs) – couldn't taste chicken, potato was like mashed – tastes okay
Kua Kai
Stir fried chicken with flat rice noodle, egg, garlic and onion, served with Thai-style hot sauce – nice
Pad Kra Prow with Seafood Fried Rice
Stir fried seafood, jasmine rice with chili and basil – strong taste of basil which I did not like, squid was tender, shrimps were okay
Authentic but our dishes were very salty.
Nonetheless, it was tasty and service was on point.
We ordered the Pad Kra Prow Fried Rice and the Pad Kee Mao.
Portions were fair and we left full.
We were seated promptly and all our food came in a timely manner.
It became much busier as it got later, but service was still good.
Basically, one star off for a crazy amount of sodium in both our dishes.
Chefs have bad days, too.
The most authentic Thai restaurant in a neighborhood overflowing with them, Pam Real Thai Food is a welcome neighborhood gem. When you walk in, the restaurant isn't glitzy with neon lights, booming music, and space-age ambience. Instead, it resembles a simple kitchen and dining area with ample lighting, plain wooden tables, and no music. The waiters are kind and speak Thai and appreciate good food just as you do.
Which takes us to the food. The food at Pam Real Thai is wholly authentic and excellent. While not as spicy as some of the uber authentic places in Queens, PRT does its due diligence and provides an exhilarating flavorful experience. Kaffir lime leaf, lime juice, fish sauce, palm sugar, and chilies are woven together, each singing their own part and composing a delicious melody of flavors. I've probably tried about half the dishes on the menu, and I'll call out of favorites and some honorable mentions below:
Goong Yai with Spicy Lime Juice — One of the spiciest dishes on the menu, this is a spicy, sour dish with four large prawns that are beautifully steamed. Meat resembles lobster or crawfish almost.
Oxtail Soup — Flavorful oxtail stewed for hours until tender in a spicy broth made from coriander, cumin, cinnamon, and cilantro. Topped with fried onions. Can be a little heavy.
Som Tum Salad — Classic papaya salad. Get it spicy.
Larb — Classic Thai style ground meat salad, topped with roasted rice powder. Somewhat difficult to find with the authentic, homemade, roasted rice powder…
Prik Khing — This is another classic prep style, meaning stirfried with string beans and chili paste. I think this is a good dish to gauge a restaurant's merit from, and I usually get it with pork or chicken.
Fermented Fish Kidney Curry — For the adventurous and weird. After ordering this once, the server warned me of its spice level and funkiness level. I assured him there would be no returns. It is one of the stinkiest, funkiest, and spiciest foods I've even encountered, but I would try it again in a heart beat. Very authentic.
