Pan Con Todo

“I highly recommend the ham croquettes (so, so good) and watermelon juice, if you're lucky to visit when they're offering that seasonal treat.”

“Whether I am having the churrasco, the pernil (oh man, get the pernil) or even a side dish like the arroz moro, I always end up thinking, "could I get away with licking my plate?".”

  1. Decided to give this place a try after seeing the positive yelp reviews.
I thought it was good, but, it didn't blow me away.
    Beef empanada was good.
Chicken empanizado (huge breaded chicken cutlet) was very good as was the Moro.
The plantains (maduros) were not good. Maybe they weren't ripe enough, they weren't sweet like they should be.
Cafe con leche was ok, I've had better.
Very nicely decorated cafe with good service.
Parking is tough, mostly metered in the area.
Maybe I'll give it another shot and try some lechon.

  2. I ordered for pick up tonight, i was excited that it had reopened. Sadly , i was very disappointed. I ordered the pan con bistec which in the menu states it comes with french fries in it.(ok yes awesome lots of Cuban places do this). But no..it was potato sticks from a can. Hmm misleading? There was barely any steak in the sandwich…a super thin alice..yes like one slice of steak. Waaay to many onions, it felt like an onion sandwich with a tad of meat. The croquetas were ok, but not the best. I had high hopes since when i came here a few times many years ago, it was so good. The sandwiches use to be stacked. The menu had more options. Now it is strictly sandwiches and some of the sandwich options have changed. I don't think i'd be coming back. Honestly it was the worse steak sandwich I've ever had :(, so bad i'd rather eat a white castle burger. Well anyway, maybe if someone happens to see my review they'd consider making the sandwich up to par, how a true cuban steak sandwich should be.

P.S. **and if it says french fries inside..it should be french fries not potato sticks.

  3. Ox tail, huge portions, and great prices.  Take the whole family!

  4. I used to work a block away and used to come here often with another coworker for lunch. Great price and portions are huge (I used to take home whatever I could not eat). The owner (a young friendly guy) was always there and always greeted everyone who came in. My favorites were the 1) pollo a la plancha (grilled chicken) with arroz moro (black rice and beans) and platanos and 2) the churrasco (skirt steak) with arroz moro and platanos. Don't forget to order fresh squeezed orange juice!

    I definitely recommend this place!

  5. I gotta tell you that this was the first-ever place I visited BECAUSE of Yelp and Urbanspoon reviews…they were all so positive that I just had to try it.

I wasn't disappointed.  I had lunch here with my grandmother.  I ordered a Cuban Sandwich, 2 ham Croquettes and a Materva (soda).  The croquettes were a bit on the room-temp side…but not too bad, I would have preferred them a little hotter in temperature.  The Cuban Sandwich was very good…the bread seemed a little "off" but was good and the preparation of the pork was amazing…it's chopped versus sliced and the flavor was fantastic.

My grandmother ordered the Tamale en canzuela which is pretty much like a tamale soup…I tried some of it and found it to be pretty good…but again it wasn't as hot/warm as I'd like…

For dessert, I had their Tres Leche (I'm a sucker for these things) and a cup of espresso.  The espresso wasn't impressive and a real let down.  The tres leche dessert was good…not great but worked for me.

The interior of the restaurant is very nice in comparison to many other Cuban restaurants on Bergenline…and the bathroom was likely the cleanest I've seen on any visits to restaurants in the area.  Anyone in the business will tell you a good check of cleanliness in the kitchen is in it's bathroom.

I'll be back to try Pan Con Todo again!

  6. So glad to have this Union City staple back in my life. When I first moved here I possibly got food from here weekly. Then they closed & my heart broke….

I was really hungry for Cuban but still hadn't found a place nearby that I loved since pct closed. I used yelp to search and to my surprise there was my favorite Cuban joint reopened!

When I picked up I noticed some changes were made to the restaurant. It looks really cute and i love the ambience. One thing I love most about this place is that it doesn't feel like a hole in the wall by any means but has hole in the wall prices and GREAT service. It was pretty busy and I saw the same owner still around.

I ordered vaca frita with white rice and maduros. Everything was cooked perfectly. The beef was just crispy enough and the onions/lime complimented it perfectly. The maduros were also just sweet enough and and an awesome addition to all the flavors of my Vaca Frita.

I would totally recommend pct to anyone. I actually once had a project in my food and culture class when we  each got assigned a country. This girl got Cuba and had never eaten Cuban food I sent her to pct and she literally was thanking me bc it was so awesome!

Note they didn't serve liquor in the past and it was byob. Not sure if this has changed so ask ahead of time if this is your thing.

  7. Thanks, Yelpers, for putting "Pan Con Todo" on the map.  Their Cuban sandwich is to die for; their music is always a great mix of salsa, cha-cha and Cuban son; the tres leches cake and the cortadito make you want to sing, smile, dance and saunter down the crowded Bergenline.  I've tried their ropa vieja and churrasco, both reliable and delicious.

  8. Fake palm trees, Cuban flags and salsa music in the background is the right way to get people in the mood for some good food.

They make a great churrasco here with plenty of sides to choose from. I also had a chicken gorden bleu here, that was extremely large in portions and very Delicious.

Their deserts are fresh and taste homemade. I recommend the tres leches to go after you digest your 12 -lb entree.
