  1. There's a new Panera in the Flatiron District* and it's a lovely spot for lunchin'.

When I stopped in recently there were only 2 people in front of me in line, but should you stop in during the lunch rush they've got about 10 or 12 computers lined up that you can use to place an 'express' order.  At the pickup window there's a screen with names that move from column A to column B when the food is ready for pickup.  I didn't actually use express computers but it looks like a really easy system.

Food was ready quick and I wandered upstairs** to the dining room to sit for a few.  I ordered one of their new flatbread sandwiches (chicken, bbq, onions, gouda, & spinach) and it was ok, not my favorite Panera food item but good enough for lunch and pretty filling.  I also grabbed a bottled*** papaya passion fruit tea that, honestly, tasted a little weird.  And because of that I found myself annoyed w/ the $3 purchase.  I wouldn't order either item next time I visit.

Dining room upstairs is a good space with plenty of seating options and {more importantly} plenty of outlets for phone charging.

    * Address on the website says 304 Park Ave South.  Butttt the entrance is in fact on 23rd St.  If you are having trouble finding it… look for Bath & Body Works – its two doors down from there.
** No dining room downstairs – just a huge open area for ordering/picking up food.
*** This particular Panera does not have a fountain/tea drink machine, soooo the only drink options are bottles or tea/coffees.

  2. I like this Panera its modernized with tablets when you first walk inside. Its so convenient to my school which I like. The employees are pretty nice. The only thing i do not really like is that the sitting is upstairs and theres no seating downstairs. They do have an elevator though which helps. My strawberry smoothie was good. I recommend this Panera but remember the sitting area is up a flight of stairs.

  3. The new computer order system sucks. Took me 10 mins to get a coffee!!! I can't imagine the lunch rush.

  4. I'm normally a big fan of Panera Bread, but I have to give this one a poor rating because it's really lame.  I was pretty excited to see this being built right near my college, but after going in, it's not worth it.  Everything is served to go, even if it's to stay, which is upsetting because I liked that sit-down restaurant vibe that Panera had without the wait service and need to tip.  There is not a lot of seating upstairs and it seems to be designed for people eating alone and not in pairs or groups.  There is not even a fountain soda machine, so everything is bottled and thus more expensive.  The service is kind of poor and the food doesn't feel that fresh or hot when it comes out.  I've been a few times because it's convenient, I normally really like Panera, and I have a gift card that I am burning through, but this one is a disappointment to the brand.

  5. Standard Panera. The staff are never too excited to be there. There is hardly any room to sit up stairs (but maybe thats just because its in New York). Everything else is good. I love the food and reliability (like I do with all Paneras) and I don't love the price (like with all Paneras).

  6. This one is the best one among all shops. High ceiling , new space with 12 self service touch screen to order your food. And has second floor for dining in. I work at 5th av on 22 st. Ideal place to get a quick lunch .

  7. SUPER CLEAN inside.

Food was great and made perfectly. Order on the kiosk and my order was done super fast and perfect.

Only thing I'd say that I wasn't too happy about was the customer and staff interactions- there were none.

When you walk in, although mighty clean, you're bombarded with iPad screens to order your food. But if you have cash you go to the cashier.

The staff member that handed my bag to me was pleasant, which I loved because she could've been a total butt head; but she was sweet and asked if I needed anything else.

Great location. Again- super clean. I would totally come back for another asiago breakfast sandwich.

  8. I've been a longtime fan of Panera and was so happy when they FINALLY came to NYC! Seriously, what took you so long?

I frequent this location so often it's in my regular lunch rotation. I'm always doing a You Pick Two, where you can pick two items from the menu of soup, salad, sandwiches. The broccoli cheese soup is all sorts of delish, as is the cream of chicken and wild rice soup.

I also like that you can order from a kiosk, which makes it so much more easier and efficient. They do have someone manning the cash register for the technology-averse. The staff working there are very pleasant and friendly. Sometimes they forget an item in my bag (mostly silverware), but in general no issues.
