  1. My friends and I wandered into this place, hoping to get an order to go.  Our waitress was personable and did a fantastic job of serving us promptly.  The food was ready immediately, and it was delivered so quickly that we decided to hang out and enjoy it.

Egg sandwich on wheat toast, you can't really mess it up… but you can always love it.  Thanks, Pantagis!

  2. This diner is open 24hr. The inside is big. It's your typical NJ Greek style diner. I came here on the weekend around 9pm on a Saturday night for some food. We were kinda in the mood for some breakfast. The reviews on Yelp weren't the greatest, but there reviews on Google were great. We figured we would try it.

As soon as we walked in the door we were seated promptly. We waited 10-15 mins before our waitress came and asked for our drinks. She was not very happy. She took our drink order. Then took our food order. I ordered a egg sandwich. She then asked me if I wanted cheese on the sandwich. I said yes please. Then she said so you would like a bacon egg and cheese. I said yes please. One of the people I was with ordered a steak. In typical diner fashion there was a lot of side options you could get with the steak. The waitress got annoyed with the fact she had to tell my friend what the options were. The reason I know this. While we were waiting for our food. I went to the bathroom and she is talking to a worker complaining about how she had to tell us almost everything on the menu and how we didn't know everything we wanted. I know the job she has is a tough job. But I couldn't believe she was saying that. Then she saw me go past. When she came and put our food down she literally let go of the plate turned said enjoy and walked away.

The food was cooked good. My bacon egg and cheese was great except there was no cheese on it lol. My friend asked his steak to be medium rare. It came out welllll done. The food was good but not great. This is not my fav diner to come to I don't know if I would come back here for anything other than breakfast. The one great thing, is for 3 people it was under 50 bucks. You can't beat that.

Overall. I want to like this place but. The service was not the greatest. The food was good. If I came back to this diner I would just get breakfast.

  3. Best mistake ever!!!

Driving from Baltimore to Newark and I thought I could go the whole trip without a break. Without going into too much detail, let's just say that we could not get off the NJ Turnpike fast enough!

First restaurant we saw and we were pulling in no matter what!

After taking care of business, we could not decide if we wanted to eat here. It was early, 11ish, and it wasn't really that busy. My colleague had perused the menu and nothing really jumped out at her. It was regular diner fare. I was standing next to the giant, enclosed, spinning cake display and I found a couple of items that I knew I was going to order even if we ate somewhere else.

We decided that since we were there, we were going to bite the bullet and just eat there.

    So. Glad. We. Did.

I could not decide what to order because everything sounded delicious. I settled on a club sandwich as I was thinking about ordering 2 different desserts to go. It came with a side dish of homemade coleslaw and 2 spears of pickles. The sandwich was huge. The turkey was roasted in-house and there were at least 5 slices of bacon! The fries were hot and plentiful. I really did not want to stop eating but knew I had to save room for dessert.

My colleague saw Veal Francais on the menu and was surprised. She said that was her favorite dish but she could never find it on any menu. It was a huge order with FOUR pieces of veal, lots of lemony sauce and served over choice of pasta or rice. She chose the homemade vegetable soup as her lunch side and she could not stop raving about how delicious it was! The veggies were chunky and plentiful…nothing from a can here! Luckily she was generous enough to share her veal with me…Wow! So tender you could cut it with a fork and the sauce was delicious…dare I admit I was scraping my plate?

How do you end a meal like this? With chocolate cake and lemon/coconut cake. We got the desserts to go, but could not resist tasting before walking out the door….MISTAKE…we almost couldn't stop eating! I did not try the chocolate but you should have seen how sad she was when what was left of her cake had melted in the car. My slice, however, was not wasted!!! I don't know if I loved the lemon curd or the generous coconut or the tender cake the most! Gosh, even while writing this, I wish I had another slice.

Moral of the story is when you are in NJ, you should always stop at a diner. Minnesota may be home to 10,000 lakes but Jersey is home to 10,000 of the diners and you should stop at each one!

ps…While I was heading out the door, I saw the Greek owner / fry cook and made a point to stop and tell him how everything we ate was delicious and the desserts were to die for!!! He was so touched that he gave me a little box of chocolate chip cookies that I happily shared with colleagues.

    pps….Road trip anyone???

  4. Came here each night while at a convention. Not sure of her name, but we had one waitress who was especially friendly and hard working. It is typical diner food with a quiet atmosphere. Overall satisfied

  5. Perhaps it's not fair to give a rating after only one try, but anytime I am sick after eating at a place, warrants a review in my book.

I wish I could rate this place just on service, but I cannot.  But I can say, our waitress was probably the BEST waitress I've ever had in a diner.  Kept our drinks filled, made small conversation, knew when to cut it off so we didn't feel weird, bought boxes for us and we didn't have to ask, and a box for the huge cheesecake that I couldn't finish…….she was really nice, and deserved the nice tip that I gave her.  Service gets 5+ stars for sure.

Decor, typical diner – the "leather" on my booth was ripped to shreds and the booths were seriously a tight squeeze, not sure why but even if my size 0 friend was with me I'm sure she'd have issues too!  Maybe it was just our booth….I'm hoping, cause it's given me a complex! 🙂

So I got the sirloin chopped steak.  It came with fried onions on top, gravy on the side, choice of potato, veg and soup or salad.  I got fries, creamed spinach, and matzo ball soup.  The bf got baked cheese ravioli and the bacon baked potato soup.

We thought we'd be in for an amazing meal after the soups, the chicken broth of the matzo ball was really good, and the matzo ball itself was light, fluffy, and good.  The bacon baked potato soup was equally as good, my bf loved it.

Then our meals came — the french fries were oil logged.  Upon breaking open the french fry, oil came pouring out.  My chopped steak was SIMMING in it's grease.  I don't understand how this happen……did they broil on the same plate they served it, didn't drain off the grease……seriously, it was swimming.  The creamed spinach was sour, I had one bite and I should have spit it out.  I'm sure that coupled with the amount of grease combined is the reason for my upset stomach.
The baked raviolis were okay, albeit a bit under cooked according to my bf but he said the sauce was tasty.

To try and make my tummy happy after not being able to eat my dinner….I went for the strawberry cheese cake.  That was very good, the strawberries were nice and sweet and the cheesecake was sweet but not too sweet.  But it wasn't mind blowing.  BF had strawberry ice cream, standard fare, certainly not home made.

Maybe their breakfast is better, Judging by the pics posted by other people, it looks better than what we were served tonight.  So maybe I'd return to try breakfast, or late after dinner for a cheesecake dessert and coffee….but I won't be going for dinner again anytime soon.

So 5 stars for the awesome service, 0 stars for dinner, 1 star for dessert…..so 2 stars overall I'd give it – especially since my stomach is in serious agony right now.  🙁

  6. Not the finest diner to be found in NJ, but it did the job and accommodated eight friends and me well enough.  Example complaint: The bacon was a bit undercooked and unusually stringy or gristly.  There were a few other comments like that.  Nothing terrible and no deal-breakers.

  7. They handled a large group very well, had us in and out within 90 minutes. It's a diner, but among the better diners I've eaten at. It's ever so slightly on the pricy side, but within normal diner range, and certainly above many nearby cheaper ones. I will say, though, that there was nothing memorable about my meal, even just days later. But I'm not a diner person, so 4 stars is about the most I'm really going to give anyway. They made enough of an impression that I would be torn between going back here vs. the Edison Diner next time I'm in the area, and I do like the Edison Diner.

  8. Classic diner with a huge menu and lots of baked goods. Lots of traditional items – greek, italian, steaks and chops, etc but also a lot of specials and seafood. I haven't tried everything on the menu, but there are probably a few unusual gems in there.
