  1. After walking around the area for about 20 minutes looking for a good happy hour we finally stumbled upon this place. The place was completely dead at 6:30 pm on a Wednesday. We were pleasantly greeted and seated promptly. They have a cute outdoor patio/bar and indoor seating as well- very cute Mexican decor. $6 frozen margaritas during happy hour. We tried all 4 flavors but the Mango & passion fruit were my fav. I had the enchiladas with sweet plantains on the side and omg it was sooooo good. The plantains were the best I've ever had! The BF got a burrito and of course I ate half of it… It was delicious and huge. Our waiter Juan was excellent- very personable & friendly. I would def recommend this place to all my fellow yelpers!!

  2. Came here on a Thursday for dinner and enjoyed my meal here.
They have a back garden for you to sit outside, which was nice.

Service was definitely VERY slow tho..think they were overwhelmed with a large table that came in a few mins before us

we ordered a pitcher of sangria which was a bit water down but nonetheless, yummy.
The free chips they give out were good but the salsa was not the tomato, onion salsa I am used to, but its free so really can't complaint.

I had the carne asada which was steak served with grilled onions, guacamole, yellow rice and bean
I was very happy with my meal, everything was delicious on the plate and the portion was huge.

My boyfriend had the other steak entrée for dinner, and he was very happy with his food too

Overall, yummy food. I will return again for sure!

  3. Horchata tasted strange but it's ok. Meals are decent – My shrimp quesadilla was very delicious. It would be really nice to eat in the back yard in the summer.

  4. I'm really upset that my friend and I just walked in here out of the blue because she was hungry and I desperately wanted to drink my troubles away. I didn't know the check in special was half off a margarita!! I paid full price… but it knocked me off of my  behind.

Paquito's is a roomy Mexican restaurant in the East Village with a SEXY outdoor garden. Yesterday's weather was perfect, combined with the margarita– it was like all my nonsense went away.

The food is decent, the chips and salsa are a little bland but the Cozumel quesadilla with shrimp and asparagus was delicious and somewhat healthy, since it only comes with pico de gallo and guacamole.

Can't speak for its authenticity even though my brother in law is Mexican… but I enjoyed my time here and would return if I was in the area for sure.

  5. I was randomly roaming this area this past week and was in need of fuel for the machine.
A happy hour special was in effect when I stopped in, I believe it is from 4-7pm everyday.

Don't let the front dining area deter you, because at 6:30pm, there was nare a soul to be found in the front, the place looked dead. But the secret is in their backyard garden. Beautiful space in the back and seemed like all the patrons were darting back there immediately.

I sidled up to the bar and asked if happy hour was still going on and yes, the Gods were smiling on me. And for $6, you have a choice of sangria, mojito or margarita.

The margarita was a very decent size, tasty and well made. While I was peering over the menu, a nice waiter brought me over some chips and salsa, on the house!

At 6:50pm, because I am an opportunist, I asked the barmaid to make me another margarita and ordered a quesadilla with jalapenos. They are also sides of cactus too, interesting.

And by 7:20pm, my bellly was full, my brain swimming in endorphins and the dent in my wallet was only $20.

You really can't beat that here in NYC. Two large-size margs, FREE chips and salsa, and a very delicious jalapeno quesadilla all for a mere $20. Also, they have quite a few vegetarian options, so you didn't feel like you had to be creative to make your meal. Now, I was ready to take on whatever the night had in store for me.

Thanks Paquito's for being a friendly place, with decent drinks, food and low traffic. These days the people here are just getting to me…

  6. Decent Mexican food at decent prices. We go here a lot because they are part of the Delta Skymiles dining program. I like the camarones de la diablo. The margaritas are pretty decent. Go in the summer and drink out back in the garden.

  7. If I could give this place 6 stars I would! With 14 people, finding a place to accommodate us on a Saturday night in NYC was no easy task. My friend that lives there chose this place because she said it was the closest to NC "authentic" Mexican she had found in NYC. She talked them into extending the happy hour deal for us since we were bringing a large group. The place doesn't look like much, but it was quite a cozy atmosphere and they arranged the tables so it would be easiest for us to talk to each other.

I cannot say enough good things about our server Juan. I think he was pretty new as he didn't know the menu very well but he was as friendly and patient as could be. Most servers do not go out of their way with such a large group that they now is getting auto-gratuity, but he kept our drinks refilled, made recommendations on the drinks and menu and even brought out shots for our friends birthday! He was pleasant and quick though the entire meal.

I started with the side salad as my appetizer and it was great before a big meal. I forgot the name of the dish I ordered, but it was a quesadilla with shrimp, asparagus, spinach, and some other things. Kind of a weird combo, but all of the things I love! Everyone's portions were huge and everyone in our group really enjoyed our meal. Even the salsa was exceptionally good. The margaritas were a little sweet for my tastes, but pretty strong.

All in all we had a great experience and I highly recommend for large groups.

  8. Have had food orders mixed up here before, decent sized portions
