We went to this restaurant as part of a package when we saw a Broadway show… We entered around 6 this "trendy" little restaurant in the back of the hotel and we were one of the few couples here. The place is decorated dark but it was not a dark restaurant. We were greeted immediately and within a few minutes we were seated. The waiter stopped by right after we sat down, introduced himself and told us a little about the food.
Since we already had a credit (from a package we bought with the show) we tried to work that into our order. We had a wonderful and very large appetizer of humus with carrots and bread. There was plenty to share and it was very tasty and fresh.
My wife had the beef stew and I must say it was incredibly flavorful with plenty of good sized pieces of very tender beef and fresh vegetables. The sauce was beef stock with a little bit of burgundy wine overtones.
I had a hamburger…. This was clearly a 1/2 pound burger that was perfectly cooked inside-out. A nice char on the outside and a perfect medium rare inside. Big, flavorful and juicy…. Perfect…
During the time we were there the restaurant clearly got very busy… Lots of folk smiling, laughing and and still were were able to speak at the table due to the good acoustics.
While we don't go to the city too often, I would definitely welcome a trip back for a lunch, dinner or late snack.
I went to this restaurant on a week night during Restaurant Week. The restaurant was practically empty at 6 when we arrived. We were quickly seated and the server was prompt in coming to the table to take our drink and appetizer orders. The calamari was really good. Crisp and hot with a yummy dipping sauce. The drinks were strong but could have been sweeter. For our entrees we ordered the steak which was also good. Very filling as the serving felt large.
We waited a considerable amount of time to order dessert. It took about 25 minutes for the waiter to come back to the table. We ended up flagging down a manager who provided us each with an extra cocktail to make up for the wait.
Service needs improvement but the food and drinks were very good. I would try the restaurant again in the future. Perhaps it was just an off night.
While I'm not a fan of tragically hip places, where quality is usually sacrificed for appearance; I had a great meal here, recently. A late flight (thanks again, United!) got me to the hotel late enough so all I wanted to do is eat, and soon. While the entrance was packed with a bunch of people just standing there, I was seated quickly and realized the place was deserted. I was a little dubious; however my server saved the day. a pro; he went through the menu with familiarity, and made some great suggestions. My dinner arrived soon, and was great. Carefully prepared, fresh ingredients, and presented well. I was a happy camper.
This is a great bar with some pretty cool decor. The drinks are priced well and the staff is very friendly. If your around the area stop on in and get a drink. You'll be happy you did
