This restaurant was a nice place to stop in for lunch. The food is not phenomenal, but it is not bad. The portions are huge, probably enough for 3 people.
The waitress was nice enough and it was clean. It also had an "A" in the window from the health department, which I have discovered is quite important to look for in New York.
Park cafe located right next to the corner, right next to the 57st. – 7 av. subway station. The Wellington hotel ist just right steps away. I'm not sure if this place is belong to the hotel, or just supporting the hotel, but as a hotel guests you will get free breakfast ticket from the reception and you can use it for breakfast here. This was the case for me, I was staying with my partner in the hotel for quite long for holiday, so we came here quite often during the staying. The breakfast card only offer really limited options, for a short time, it probably wouldn't become a problem. But visitors like us, who's planning to stay here for awhile, it could be a bit boring after awhile.
The breakfast itself wasn't bad at all. It was a typical amercian style breakfast, bacons, ham and eggs, pancakes and sausages. I found it quite oily each meal. probably put on some weight aleady. Well, It happened quite often in holiday anyway.
After awhile we tried it order soemething else, they would accoding the breakfast ticket value added up the price of what you ordered. that extra guest can paid at the end of the meal. I also checked about the price on their menu. I did find it quite expensive, maybe not for the standard here, it probably because of its locaion, just 10 mins on foot to reach Central Park.
Inside the place didn't have wifi, hotel policy. It was quite rogical, since the hotel charged people for internet. The staff which working here were quite efficient. although we came here usually need to wait on the line, it didn't really take so long till we got a table.sometime might took around 10 mins, but I haven't realls seen somebody was waiitng so long. Overall, I found this place was alright. At the morning could be a bit chaotic, but they managed to keep everything together.
Adequate diner food, but nothing special and grossly overpriced (but of course that's nothing new for midtown). It's not the cleanest place, but we're mostly just talking some splashes of soda and crumbs on the ground. And service is fine but again, nothing to be impressed by (sensing a trend here?). Overall, I would only go here if you have literally no other options, but you don't need to be scared away by the low reviews (it has an average 2.5 as I'm writing this).
Standard diner fare. Not bad not great.
If you want a lot of basic food this will work.
Service was very good. Chicken rice soup was also good.
We were staying across the street, and this wasn't our intended place to eat, but since every other place had a wait and we were hungry, we came in. It's in need of a face lift, but otherwise the atmosphere and location is nice. Carnegie Hall is right around the corner and Central Park is a few blocks away. Service was average and the food was sufficient. It's a diner, but it's not Triple D worthy.
We were wandering around from our hotel at West 57th by Hilton in New York City, looking for a place to eat breakfast, as our hotel despite costing $400+, declined to furnish breakfast.
We looked around and saw Park Café at the corner of 57th and 7th, with tons of people standing inside -despite it be being May, it was raining and cold outside. Well if it's that crowded, there must be something good about this restaurant -when in doubt eat where everyone else eats.
Turned out the line of people inside the restaurant was for guests standing in line waiting for a table. We took our place and took a glance at what everyone sitting down was eating, but otherwise kept our eyes to ourselves, keeping quiet, blending into the decor, and hoping not to disturb the sitting people eating.
After about 10 minutes, we got ourselves a narrow 2 person table in the back, no doubt speeded up by the waitresses being on their toes and giving and collecting meal checks pronto. After all this is New York City on a weekday, and everyone is in a hurry, even the customers eating their breakfasts.
Middle aged waitress with a Slavic accent, too much makeup, and dyed black hair takes our order. Reminds me this is New York, not California, where not too many immigrants from Europe.
Wife asks if I want to split a meal. I tell her that I can easily eat this meal by myself. I get the Denver omelet, while the wife gets the over easy eggs with sausage.
Service is prompt, and each meal comes with shredded potatoes and two pieces of toast. My Denver omelett is delicious, with the eggs cooked just right, with green peppers and ham.
We get out of there for $29 after tip and tax, a bargain in New York city.
Meanwhile the line of standing customers waiting for a table gets longer. Two Chinese ladies sneak into an empty table for 8, sit down, and are promptly admonished by the watching waitresses, one for jumping the line, and two for having two people take up a table for 8. Just like my ex: native born Chinese ladies the same all over, always trying to take advantage at others expense!.
Wife goes outside, realizes she's missing something, and scrambles back to get her purple head band. Don't want to miss that, when it's windy, rainy and cold in May in New York city.
Good breakfast place right across the street from our hotel. An average plate is about $12.95, coffee $3.
Friendly, efficient service. They open every day at 6 am, so you can eat and get an early start to sightseeing.
They also serve lunch and dinner and gave a bar. Open until 1am.
Excellent spot for breakfast or lunch. Prices are reasonable for the city. Breakfast at one of the nearby hotels would be 2-3 times higher. If you are near Times Square check it out.
