My eggplant parm was delicious and it was so stuffing that I nearly passed out on my desk for $8. The bread was sooo fresh! I will be back!!! So many other sandwiches to try for my inner foodie curiosities!
An old school Italian deli that time has thankfully forgotten. A little a disappointed that they were out of sausage and peppers when I got there at 115 on a friday, but oh well, next time. Had a sizeable roast beef, turkey and mozzarella sandwich on whole wheat with all the fixings (lettuce, tomatoes, red, sweet and hot peppers). Star of the show is the fresh mozzarella. Solid solid traditional deli spot.
Update: if you want the sausage and peppers, you're advised to get there before 1PM. Struck out 2 weeks in a row…not that their other offerings aren't great too…
zero stars if I could give it that. totally horrible experience today so I am going to downgrade this place entirely. I have been noticing for a while that this place likes to nickel and dime its customers and the whole situation boils down to honesty. the same item would cost $8 one day and $9 the next. I have been here more than a dozen times so I would know since I order the same few items each time out. I ask the owner why the cold cut sandwich is a higher price today and he proceeds to cuss me out about why I am concerned about the see-sawing prices. He says the price is as marked and that's it's a black and white situation where I can buy it or not. Well, you should mark your prices on your outdated menu so everything is clear as day so I don't have to play the price game and wait for the server to mark the price on the bag. Everyday it's something different. The servers eye you and then mark down a random price. There is no price transparency. As a customer, I am entitled to ask and I did so politely. He sarcastically says that the prices are like the stock market. Really? Why did he get all worked up over this seemingly benign question? I have asked it before and let's just say the outcome was better the first time around. This place is a joke. I told him point blank that I didn't appreciate his attitude towards a customer and said that he doesn't care. Expletive deleted here. Great guy this owner. So why does he comment on yelp posts? He must not care. Oh, well. Leave it for him to answer but my money is on him providing some snide response. That's just what Park Italian stands for. And for the record, employees are also a reflection of the owner. If you have watched the Seinfeld episode about the soup nazi, here's your real life example.
This place is a hole in the wall but most times you will find some of the best places in NYC are hole in the wall places.
No ambiance but honestly who cares about that when the food is so good. When you walk in you may doubt the place but please just order anyway. I promise you wont regret it. The food is sooooo good. I ordered the chicken parm with ziti and was pleasantly suprised. Very flavorful and tasted like authentic Italian food.
I am having a hard time giving the place 2 stars. It is a small deli tucked away on 45th, close to the offices on 6th. The food was so so at best, being a vegetarian, my options were really restricted, but my non vegetarian colleagues mentioned the food was just ok. It came out to roughly $15+ a piece for lunch. The service was quick, but with $15 you can get better in the area.
I am across the street and down the road from this place.. and its a solid italian sandwich or any kind of sandwich you want for lunch! The customers consist mostly of men… I am usually the only if not one of few women on line for a sandwich. I havent ventured into hot foods yet but my friend has and shes been satisfied.
I'm so thankful that my girlfriend is a foodie and loves food so much that she complied a list of places that I have to try by my office. Without her, I would have never discovered Park Italian Gourmet!
While the restaurant/deli is big in size, the reality is that it's pretty small since the line can get pretty long, although it does move pretty quickly. You'll be in and out in less than 10 minutes despite the lines. The lines will be separated by either hot (chicken parm, meatballs, etc.) or cold food (prosciutto, etc.).
Hearing great things about the chicken parm hero, I already knew what I was ordering before I even stepped into the store. The chicken parm was so good – I can see why it's a crowd favorite as it's comparable to the chicken parm found in Italian restaurants. The hero also is pretty large for one person, but too small to split the sandwich into two portions, unless you're a really small eater.
Also, it's cash only!!! Kudos for great service because I actually didn't have cash on me, but the cashier let me take my hero and told me to pay for it next time. I WAS SHOCKED because this was my first time here. Besides that, I will be back to try other heroes such as the meatball sub! That being said, please don't try to take advantage of their kindness!!
sandwiches/heros/rolls made with 3 choices + lettuce and tomato. prices are fair and the cold cuts are fresh, and decent size as well. cash only!
