Park Place is a neighborhood place and from my recent experience it seems like it is the heart of Floral Park. Stopping in for an early dinner (6pm) on a Friday night the bar was hopping as we were led to a table in the back dining room. It was even more pleasantly surprising to find it packed with families enjoying dinner. Park Place sure is popular – its easy to see why.
Starting our meal with a couple of glasses of Sauvignon Blanc as we decide on our food. The southern grilled oysters were an excellent way to start – plump, juicy oysters topped with garlic butter and Parmesan, lightly browned were perfect with a hit of lemon.
For our meal I went with the Sole Meuniere, cooked in brown butter, garlic and white wine – it wasn't the best version I ever had, it was surprisingly light. The potatoes that were served with this were tender, but also could have used a touch more browning. My wife's lobster risotto, a special app that she chose for her main, was delicious. Creamy risotto with beets, asparagus and many chunks of lobster meat – she really enjoyed it.
For dessert we shared the Funnel Oreos that speaks to the crowd pleasing and unpretentious nature of this place. It's generous and delicious with 4 fried oreos and a couple of scoops of vanilla ice cream. A great way to end our meal.
Our server John was fantastic. He was attentive with a great personality – made fun conversation while making sure we had everything we wanted. Along with the food, its the kind of service that truly completes a meal, makes it memorable and want to return to Park Place soon.
Came in on a Sunday place was really dead… But has a nice bright airy clean feel.
Jackie was our wonderful waitress very attentive and explained the specials on the menu…
We ordered the spinach artichoke dip to start it came out hot and gooey.
I ordered the pattys burger but swapped the swiss for mozzarella. The burger was cooked perfectly to medium. But i think next time ill do the basic burger bc it had soo much on it i had to cut the burger!
Along with the burger came fries in a cut little mini deep fry like basket. Really cute. They are super thin and a little on the salty side for my taste
Service was good water glasses were always getting filled
I joined my parents on New Year's Day for dinner here; they had already been seated when I walked in and more than half of the yummy warm bread and softened butter was missing from our table. Needless to say, a good sign.
They started with an iceberg wedge salad, with crispy bacon, tomatoes and fragrant bleu cheese dressing, which turned out to big enough for three portions. Good thing, because it was such a…good thing!
I enjoyed (right down to an empty bowl) the chicken milanese, tender strips of breaded chicken with a tasty field greens over top; dressing was delicious. Mom and dad went the red meat way; dad a traditional hamburger, mom the sliders of differing cheeses three. Both registered no complaints and little conversation while polishing them off fairly thoroughly.
A three-way split again on the dish of (chocolate and vanilla) ice cream for dessert was a perfect finish.
As to this restaurant as a whole: Service is phenomenal; really attentive and polite. Atmosphere is warm and inviting, nice long bar, tables in the main room, and another quiet back room for more seating or parties. The one small drawback is that the prices are a little steeper than other bistros with similar food in these parts. But certainly not prohibitive.
I'm sure we will return to Park Place…even if we don't pass go…LOL, sorry, couldn't help myself.
Came here for hh with a bunch of friends and sat at the bar. Gina is awesome! We had a good time catching up and slurping down $1 oysters. Gina was accommodating and kept making interesting drinks/shots for us. The appetizers we shared weren't impressive but I'll definitely be coming back for hh often!
D and I went back here, sans Theresa because she was sick. We had a gift certificate for $50 which really helped us save. When I entered the resaturant I was greeted in the nicest way possible. Our server was not only adorable, but also wonderful. I started with the lobster bisque, which was quite creamy and tasty. D ended up with the lobster mac and cheese, which was quite dissapointing for both of us; wrong textures, wrong cheese, poorly cooked lobster, no bread crumbs, and nothing that wowed us. I had the bowties with peas and shirmp which was quite tasty. For desert we had the fried oreos -yumm!!! D had a really nice chardonay with fall flavors and I, of course, had a moscato. I feel like there is so much more to this menu that I need to try,l so I'm defintely telling people about this place and I'm definitely coming back here.
Negative reviews of this place boggle my mind…
First off, try the tuna tartar tacos. LEGEN…wait for it…DARY.
I could eat about 20 of them in one sitting. So Good.
Overall great menu, the Italian Paella is delicious,
Skirt steak and Lamb Chops are grilled to perfection.
Lobster Mac & Cheese is super cheesy and will leave you stuffed.
Save room for the Fried Oreos with ice cream
::insert Homer Simpson drooling sound here::
They just started doing a new Raw Bar Happy Hour:
50cent Clams
$1 Oysters
Half Price Drinks
Twist my arm.
Staff/management is attentive and friendly.
You're getting A+ cuisine in a laid back bar&grill atmosphere, which I love.
It's true, the portions aren't the biggest, but if you want 5 courses for $19, go to TGIFRIDAYS…Park Place is doing great things!!!
The people at Park Place have truly mastered the art of cultivating American dishes with classic flavors combined with a modern flair.
Inside is beautiful. I really appreciate the taupe and white accent walls and the artwork throughout the restaurant. Fun fact! The photography on the walls – all landmarks and sights from the surrounding Floral Park area, which I thought was very special. It adds a personal home-y touch. It's quite spacious inside with plenty of seating, a nice large bar and big back room for private parties, events and such. As for the menu – although many of the dishes appear to have an American influence, there's a lot of different, unique flavors incorporated as well.
Appetizers:
Sesame Calamari – black and white sesame with a sweet chili and spicy mayo dipping sauce. The calamari were lightly fried and cooked well. I thoroughly enjoyed the pairings of sauces – heat and sweet.
Short Rib Nachos – comfort food at its finest. The combination of shredded braised pork with the nacho cheese, jalapenos and guac… so good.
Entrees:
Asian Steak Salad – marinated skirt steak, chunks of avocado, cilantro, peppers, carrots all topped with a lemon soy vinaigrette. Who said salads can't be filling? This one certainly packs a punch. That dressing is nothing short of amazing.
Cavatelli with Hot Sausage – the pasta is pillow-y soft and topped with a cognac cream sauce. Say no more. Wish the sausage was a tad bit spicier, but I unlike most people am always looking for more heat.
Dessert:
Apple Cobbler – all desserts here are made in-house which I LOVE. The apple cobbler was a beauty. It came out piping hot and a la mode which I mean, how can you not fall in love with it? It was rich, inviting and had the perfect amount of sweetness.
Can't wait to come back to Park Place. Whether it's for a family night, catching up with friends or hosting a party, this place is a must visit. It has everything I look for in a restaurant – a welcoming ambiance, friendly staff and a solid, diverse menu. Highly recommend going!
So this year I decided I was finally going to take advantage of Long Island Restaurant. After scouring the lists of restaurants, I came across Park Place and their great menu for restaurant week! My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday afternoon so it was fairly empty when we walked in and were seated right away in the front room (which I later realized wasn't the only dining area, there's another room in the back). We asked for the restaurant week menu and it was $27.95 per person for appetizer, main course and desert.
For appetizers I ordered the Lobster bisque and my BF got the roast beef mini sliders.
Being that I was really in the mood for lobster bisque, I really enjoyed it. The soup itself was creamy and not too overwhelming and the chunks of lobster were melt in your mouth good. The roast beef sliders were pretty good–it was actually two medium sized sliders (on pretzel buns might I add) cut in half. They had tender roast beef with melty cheese sauce on them. The only thing I can complain about with them is that the cheesy sauce wasn't consistent–almost like they forgot to put it on one of the sliders.
For entree I got the chicken Milanaise and the BF got the "Park Place Burger".
The waitress very thoughtfully warned me that the chicken was not a hot dish–it was actually like an upside down salad. Although I really was in the mood for a hot meal, I thanked her for letting me know and ordered it anyway. The panko breaded chicken cutlets were delicious! The arugala salad on top had priscuitto, cucumber, fresh mozzarella chunks, onion, tomatoes and a tangy dressing. It was quite good! The burger had cheddar on it and the bun was stamped with the restaurant logo, which we found ind of cool. It was a decent burger, ordered well done and cooked exactly how my boyfriend liked it.
For desert we ordered the waffle sundai which was obviously yummy, and the fried oreos which we never got to eat because we were too stuffed 🙁
Bottom line, I would go back, it's just a little too pricey for regular nights out. I'd probably return for a fancy anniversary or birthday dinner though!
