  1. If you're all about non-traditional, then this is the place for you! The desserts are beautifully crafted & full of flavor. They do have traditional cookies & pastries, but the specialty pastries are what this place is all about. It is on the expensive side, but who doesn't mind paying for quality? Cannolis are made to order & the gelato is always fresh, with new flavors being presented. We have ordered specialty cakes from Bruno as well & they pay attention to detail & really work to give you exactly what you want in the price range you are looking for. Brunch is also a hit here. You get plenty for what you pay for. The bakery is always clean & the staff is always pleasant. Great place to pick something up to impress family & friends, just make sure they're not picky eaters. 🙂

  2. I've been here with girlfriends for both lunch and dinner.

Had really good, friendly service both times of day. Walk past the desserts quickly, so they don't suck you in.

Not sure if the pasts is made in house, but it's delicious. I'm a sucker for Penne ala Vodka and it pleased me so!

If you must have dessert, and I'm sure you must, then go for the Lobster Tail. I know it has a fancy Italian name, but just ask for the Lobster Tail and you will not be disappointed. Hazelnut cream filled, flaky dough perfect

  3. It's going to take more then a few snapshots of Pope Benedict to get theses sins taken off their bill.

I'm grateful for never having had to have written a review like this one before now.  Ignorant discriminatory behavior, especially when corroborated by management, is unforgivable.

Eager for a new brunch spot, I headed there this past Sunday with my friend Julien, who just happens to be black.  Something I wouldn't otherwise mention except for the fact that I believe it played a role in what our brunch was to become.

    This is what I had:
A Western omelet which was over-cooked (like a frittata) served with plain white toast and home fries.  I also ordered water and coffee which was supposed to be included.

The menu also teased with "A BASKET OF OUR HOME MADE FLAVORFULL (sic) CROISSANTS, MUFFINS, DANISHES AND SCONES AND A FRESH SEASONAL FRUIT PLATTER," which never materialized.

Having to ask for a refill on my now empty coffee cup is bad enough, but the waiter asked me which menu I had ordered from.  The coffee is included with brunch I was told but maybe he meant only the first cup because there was a $2 charge added to my bill.

After we were done eating our entrees we asked for an apple turnover.  Every other restaurant would have brought two forks along with the order.  Our waiter brought the check instead.  When he finally brought the _one_ fork he asked if we were ready to settle the bill!  I pointed out that we needed more water at which point he took my glass from the table and returned it full, leaving Julien's glass empty.  I was dumbfounded.

When the waiter picked up the check I informed him that I hadn't left him a tip and had included a statement as to why.  He showed it to the manager who merely told us to have a good day.  Wow.

  4. Came here for dinner and sat outside since the weather was really nice, we started off with a nice salad with goat cheese, nuts and raisins it was good. I had me a nice glass of red pinot noir, because they ran out of merlot and chardonnay, ok! For my main course I enjoyed me some grill chicken with mozzarella and basil in a panini bread. It was good and big so I was able to save some for later. Then I just had myself a cappuccino after and that was all. The prices are not that bad but I am not crazy about this place and they didn't even read us there specials which in the other restaurant they do and its always something really good they offer.

**MAIN TIP** really still and only enjoy the Forest Avenue location, its much nicer and just the food taste so much better, and the place is smaller than this one but they don't run out of food or wine like this place! Plus they read you there specials of the night and you cant go wrong.

  5. Came here for desserts and I got myself a cheesecake and mango mousse cake which they are known for! They are a small portion which is good so you don't over eat! The cheesecake is extremely soft, velvety, creamy, and cheesy which I LOVE! I can never have enough of cheesecake! As for the mango mousse cake, it brought a taste of sour and sweetness to it! The cake was was mousy and soft!! Overall I loved both!!

If both of these aren't what your looking for, there's a big variety of other desserts such as gelato, cannoli, macaroons etc.. All Italian pastry!! Must stop by if your on the island and try it for yourself!

  6. I came here with a friend who LOVES the place and had to bring me here. I was quite impressed. Who knew there was good food on Staten Island? I know I didn't.

I will say that some of the dishes on the menu were a little pricey, but then there were others that were fair. We didn't get fancy and order pasta but I will be putting that on my to-eat list. After our server took out order, we were given an assortment of different breads with butter which I thought was cool. Some were tasty, others were just okay. We ordered a Margherita pie, fried calamari, and a salad with goat cheese (I can't remember the name and can't seem to find it). The fried calamari was hard to stop eating. It was THAT delicious. The Margherita pie was bigger than I expected it to be but it was also very good. Unfortunately, we were too full finish it. I wasn't too crazy about the salad because I'm not a fan of goat cheese but my friend orders it frequently and loves it. We had two glasses of wine along with our meal and while I'm no wine connoisseur, our glasses were pretty damn good for $8 each. I wish I had some space for dessert, though! I took a peek at their bakery and was in awe. Until next time!

  7. I have been wanting to try because the chef won on Chopped,  but I found out there are multiple locations and that chef is at Forrest Avenue location.  Well we were there for the brunch menu which was a set price of 21.95 per person.  This includes coffee, juice and one complimentary liquid libation. You get a dish of fresh fruits and pastries to share and a choice of entrée.  This place is supposed to be known for their pastries and the chef won a cannoli contest so you would think this stuff would blow you out of the water.  Well think again, I was not pleased but for one that was top with yellow jelly.  Truth is, I dislike the typical jelly topped pastry I thought it was but this one was yummy.  Great flavor and mouth feel. All the others were quite dry! The fruit was excellent, I typically never have the cantaloupe but tried and was very pleased. For our entrée we each choose something different and split with eachother.  We had quiche with sausage and broccoli rabe and the ravioli. The quiche was good but crust was too sweet, I would have like to be a savory dish.  The broccoli rabe also was too mushy and possibly not broccoli rabe because there was no bitterness at all. Overall it was okay, it came with a salad and I didn't like the dressing at all. The ravioli was good but sauce was too thick. The mushrooms had great flavor but the cream drowned it. The ravioli probably could have been cooked a minute longer it was too al dente. We choose to have the Italian spritzer which was a $2 extra charge.  It was good, see photo I loved the vibrant orange color. I appreciate a good bitter drink. Overall, I liked but when I return I don't want to do brunch. I liked George the waiter but the hospitality needs some smiles and more warmth and music was too loud.

  8. This is a nice place to get something to eat on Staten Island. What caught my attention about this restaurant is the outdoor space and when I came here the other evening, the weather was gorgeous. I've passed by many times and kept saying I would try it eventually and I finally did!

The food is very good. I had panelle for the appetizer and for the entrees, my husband and I ordered a cheeseburger and penne with vodka sauce. Everything was made just right except my burger, which was a little over cooked.

I think the service here could be better. My husband waited a while for a second beer, (we ate the entire appetizer sharing one drink). We also waited a while for the check. I'm giving 4 stars for the great location, menu, atmosphere, and food. We would come back again. I'd like to try their desserts next time which look delicious.
