  1. Sadly, because of the service, I can only give this bakery three stars. Don't get me wrong – the pastries are excellent, but the disgruntled employee I interacted with just put a damper on the whole thing. I've been here a few times in the past, but most recently, I stopped by to purchase a couple of their "large specialty" cookies. I randomly remembered eating them years ago, and wanted to evoke the same nostalgia. At $4 each, I had high expectations.

I knew I was in the mood for chocolate chips, but Pasticceria Rocco offers an assortment containing them, including both "hard" and "soft" chocolate chip cookies. The bakery's signage in the storefront window (where they showcase their large cookies) did not label all of the available varieties, so in order to ensure I picked the correct one, I went inside and asked an employee behind the counter if he could differentiate among a few of the options. The expression on his face immediately soured and he just pointed to the trays in the display case, curtly uttering one-word responses.

I decided to go with the soft, but the guy went to grab the wrong cookie. I politely mentioned this to him, and he groaned as he shifted his hand to the other tray. I handed him the money and, without so much as a smile or a thank you, he pushed the brown paper bag towards me.

I began eating as I walked away from the store, and was impressed by the buttery, smooth texture and the way in which it blended with the chocolate chips. I also bought a black & white cookie, and was delighted to taste the lemon zest within the spongy shortbread base.

Like I said, the cookies are excellent. I have no complaints whatsoever in that department. However, the rudeness of that particular employee at Pasticceria Rocco ruined my indulgence. I will happily update this review if future visits are met with friendlier customer service.

  2. My FAVORITE place for a GREAT CANOLI. And great hazelnut biscotti .  EXCELLENT BAKED GOODS—Every CANOLI is filled only when you order it!! As it should be. You have a choice of chopped pistachio nuts or chocolate chips to be sprinkled on the outside CANOLI cream.
A wonderful gem of a pastry shop–great coffees- cuppachino, espresso, latte, perfect to sit and relax with some of the BEST PASTRY YOU'LL EVER HAVE.  I love Rocco's!!!  See my photos.
I can hardly wait to go back. Worth a trip from anywhere! Luckily, I'm just a subway ride away, but worth my travel time.  YES, I TAKE A SUBWAY RIDE TO BE ABLE TO ENJOY ROCCO'S PASTRY.

If you are visiting NYC, definitely, make it over to Rocco's on Bleecker Street, just West of 6th Avenue. You can take the F train to West 4th Street stop & just walk a few blocks to Rocco's. You will be so happy you visited!

From the West 4th Street stop, head south (downtown) on 6th Ave, just a block or two, to BLEECKER STREET, –be on the West side of Sixth Ave–then a right on Bleecker & you're steps away from the wonderful Rocco's!
A world of beautiful & delicious pastries. Enjoy!

  3. We stopped here for cannoli and thought they were good but man, they are sweet! Tons of choices of all kinds of Italian desserts.

  4. OH MY SWEETTOOTH GOD…. Rocco's has the best rainbow cookies i have ever tasted.

try them ASAP.  i also hear the cannolis are amazing.. i can't wait to go back and try everything in sight at this bakery.. LLLLoveeee

  5. If you like something sweet after a salty meal-date-deal-day check this place out. Quaint Italian bakery in West Village with gourmet cannoli, Assortment of fancy cookies and a smooth drink of Cafe Americano.

The staff has a nice blend of Albanians working there. The sections are split from carry out to sit in. The back of the place has a strange indoor setting with a glass roof. Not sure what to make of it.

    A nice historical place.

  6. I felt like you can walk in at any time and get what you need. The Cannolis were amazing and the wait was a bit long.  This place is in a great location. I think we downed 3 of them each!  A sugar overload…We also had a Sfoglitelle (sooo good it is worth not saying it correctly).  Had a great time enjoying the goodies with everyone in there.  I think sweets make everyone more friendly!

  7. Stopped in late one evening right before they closed. We had just binged on a ton of food at dinner and were too full for dessert. However, after a bit of time to digest we were ready for dessert, so a visit to Pasticceria Rocco was in order. Not a bad call at all!

So much to choose from here! You can order at the counter or you can have a seat and have a waiter help you out. We decided on the latter and we might have made him work hard for us. Yes, we went a little overboard for just two people. We got the profiteroles, the plain cheesecake, *and* the French Lulu (pastry shell filled and coated with french cream. Topped with macaroon crunches and cocoa). And it was all so so good. Super filling and I wish we had had more space or time to have sampled more since it all looked fantastic. In particular the lobster tail, the cannoli, and the gelato spoke to me. Alas, we couldn't do it all. For next time, I suppose!

  8. In the mood for cookies (obviously), Bestie and I each got a selection to munch on at Pasticceria Rocco.  I love a simple Italian cookie, but I've had more disappointing ones in NYC (especially from Little Italy), than good ones!  Overall, I have to say that Rocco has a great selection of goodies and their cookies are on point.  I will definitely be back to grab my favorites and to try their other sweet treats!

    -chocolate almond drop (EPIC)
    -chocolate raspberry finger (EPIC)
    -white chocolate drop (pretty good)
-pistachio biscotti  (pretty good, texture is great but flavor is meh.. i'd try other flavors next time)
-raspberry jam butter cookie sandwich (pretty good, but the two cookies separated in the bag)
    -diavolini (meh)
-pistachio meringue (not good.. even though it's loaded with pistachios, it tastes like pure sugar)
    -rainbow sprinkle crescent (not good)
