Discovered this quaint spot before a show at the Knitting Factory..
Their crepe game is truly on point. Sweet or savory, you win every time. Am I French yet?
My friend wanna brunch in Williamsburg with a outdoor seating. So yes we came here. Actually their outdoor set up is pretty tight but good enough. No lines & we got the outdoor table.
We sat & server is very fast & attentive. I got my hot chocolate, friends got iced coffee & cappuccino. I love how my hot chocolate comes in a big mug & taste a little salty & sweet! My friends enjoyed their drinks too. But for the iced coffee too bad they don't have simple syrup.
For food I got the asparagus penne and it has proschutto, cream & pesto. It is creamy and the proschutto is salty so it makes it a little salty. But i love the asparagus in it & the pasta is perfectly cooked and also the cream is yummy! My friend got the mustard chicken penne but she ask the server if its possible not to put mustard & yes he said its fine and the food turns out really delicious. Its kinda semilar to my food but without the salty taste. My bf got the walnut penne, it has bacon, cream, walnut & onions. He love it! I tried this & I'm willing to trade my food for this because its really good. Cream without salty & that bacon is amazing!
Great restaurant with great food!
This little French Gem is absolutely phenomenal. Especially for the price. I went with my sister and her friend Tina and we started with the foie gras which was to die for. Then for my entree, I ordered the duck crepe with goats cheese. OMG, So much flavor. I was in ecstasy. The owner was super awesome explaining everything on the menu. If your in Williamsburg, then you've got to check this place out. Thanks for making my belly so happy
I absolutely love this place! It's legitimately French and both Soraya (who I believe is the owner, if not one of the owners) and our server were great. They have cute indoor seating as well as amble outside seating. My friend and I chose to sit outside on a beautiful spring day not yet fully aware of or prepared for the deliciousness we were in store for.
Their foie gras pâté is a must have! Words do not do it justice. Simply put, it was heaven. Their crêpes are great and are made with buckwheat flour. They are shaped more like galettes. We got La Norvegienne, which was fantastic and loaded with fresh ingredients – salmon, asparagus, goat cheese, zucchinis, onions, and swiss cheese. Our server recommended going with this one and we were grateful for it.
Their espresso was not my favorite, but that became a distant memory after our food arrived. I highly recommend coming here and I plan to make it back whenever I'm in town.
I'm not sure how long Pates et Traditions has been open, but my life in New York has been incomplete before coming here. What a spectacularly homey and lovely little restaurant on a quiet corner in Williamsburg – away from the maddening mustaches and tight pants of the main drag of Bedford. The instant you step into this quiet and dark restaurant, you're immediately in the comfort of a little cafe in the countryside of France – or better yet, the kitchen table of a French grandmother in Provence.
The friendly French servers greeted and sat me at a little corner table where I sat on a cushioned bench that ran the length of the restaurant. I wanted everything on the menu and it was hard to whittle it down to just one entree. But I settled on a glass of Côtes du Rhône ($9) and what I wanted the most: Mustard Chicken Penne ($14). There's nothing quite like a hearty rustic French pasta dish, and this didn't disappoint. Tender chicken breast, Dijon mustard, onions, white wine and cream on top of perfectly al dente penne. The meal was perfect and I almost turned down dessert – then I realized how foolish that would be. An espresso ($2.25) and spectacularly light La Beurre Sucre Citron (butter, sugar, lemon – $5).
I can't wait to come back here. I'll be trying everything on the menu at some point. It all looks so, so good!
such a cute French cafe that reminds me of Paris
came sunday at 1230 and didnt have to wait too long to be seated, they really go in rounds, many tables finished at the same time
most authentic french crepes ive had in the U.S. since the last time i visited Paris, esp because the crepes are buckwheat!
CHEAP brunch option since each crepe only 10.50 and if you want to add meat or cheese you can so its more filling, but i was content after our crepes
We got one savory and one sweet & salty to share
–La Shrimp Curry: i've never tried french curry but this was TASTY, judging by the size and shape the shrimps were probably frozen shrimp but still loved this dish
–La Bergere: i love goat cheese and this sweet & salty dish hit the spot! a bit heavier than the la shrimp curry due to the amount of cheese so i'm glad we went halfsies, dont think i'd be able to eat a whole one of these to myself
go-to french crepe cafe for sure! I want to try their pastas next time
Amazingly savory crepes! I came here for brunch on a Sunday and it wasn't crowded at all. Interior was cosy and cute, reminded me of the South of France. Definitely recommend getting the snail crepes (la bergere)
One of my first authentic French experiences in the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn. This restaurant is very intimate and homey, so it is definitely a good place to take someone on a date! There are so many delicious dishes on the menu and prices are affordable (cash only though). Reservations may be wise if you're planning on going with 4+ people
I ordered:
– Mustard chicken penne (5/5) – a terrific pasta dish that had fine cuts of chicken breasts, onions, and white wine. I was surprised with the large portions, which is a steal given this dish was like $13
Service is a bit slow though, so be prepared to wait. It took roughly 40 minutes for our dishes to come out. There is also a "service charge" included in the tab, which I have not seen before
This was a nice introduction to French and I enjoyed Pates greatly. Will make a return in the future!
