Had a business lunch today in a very good restaurant, Patricia's. Service was very friendly and we were served very quickly. Oil and garlic dip for warm bread was delicious and glasses of house Cabernet very pleasant. Noise level quiet and music at a perfect volume to conduct business. Veal parmigiana was cooked perfectly with the nice crisp ends and the sauce was very flavorful. I have to point out the side dish of linguine olio aglio was one of the freshest and cooked perfectly that I've had in a while (5 stars).
Side of regular spaghetti and marinara was fair and very small portion. We also ordered a chopped salad that was on the menu with sliced pears and walnuts, but the waiter forgot to bring it out. The dessert, almond cake was delicious, tasted like a almond tiramisu, so wet and moist. Great espresso and a very nice atmosphere. Another plus they left a bowl of fresh grated cheese and small bowl of red pepper flakes on the table, so you can apply as needed. Overall it's a restaurant I would definitely go back to when I'm in the area.
Patricia's was impressive even before the appetizers arrived, thanks to the addictive garlic-laden olive oil that accompanied the bread.
The item most likely to have you contemplating another ride on the 5 train is the calamari arrabiata, featuring a killer sauce with enticing peppers, and managing to avoid the over-breading that sometimes turns calamari into fried whatever.
I was glad I got the Yelp-applauded black spaghetti. I attended Patricia's with lapsed Yelp Elite Seth P., who seemed slightly less enthralled by the spaghetti, saying "it's Chinese food," although he was a huge fan of the fioretti.
Patricia's is pretty much synonymous with Morris Park itself. Over the years, it's evolved from mainly a pizzeria with a small seating section to a full-blown Italian restaurant, adding to the many Italian selections this area of the Bronx has to offer.
Walking into the restaurant, you approach the bar followed by the main dining area. Decor is nice – very rustic with exposed brick walls, wooden chairs, and white linens. A lovely focal point in the dining room is a large vase in the center of the room filled with flowers, bare branches, and strung with lights. It's very welcoming as you enter the dining room. I will say, however, the tables are a little small; we were a party of three seated at a table made for 4 and all agreed it would be very "cozy" with a fourth person. This is somewhat forgiven though due to the size of the dining room – it's not the biggest and they make the best out of the space they have.
The food is pretty good – they have a nice selection of Italian entrees. My chicken capricciosa was fried to perfection; the cutlet was super thin and crispy. The greens were okay, but they were a little heavy with the vinegar. A nice touch is that I had the choice of having the chicken grilled, fried, or baked. The main issue I have with the food in general is that they tend to be cheap. For example, the bread basket contained generic sliced Italian bread, and none of our entrees came with sides or the option for a soup/salad. Another member of my party ordered the pork chop and got just that, with some sliced garlic and vinegar peppers. For their prices, I expect more.
Overall, Patricia's serves good food, and their location and decor make it a great place to go for a tasty Italian meal. However, there are other Italian restaurants in Morris Park, Pelham Gardens, and Arthur Ave that will give you more for around the same price.
Went here to celebrate our 4 year anniversary. First off let me say thank you to the staff and manager for turning our 30 min wait into a 5 minute sitdown. The place has a beautiful old school feeling to it. You can tell this is definitely one of the BX's most popular spots everyone that was there were with family and friends having a great time. The food was amazing and I rather spend my money here for good portions for great prices. You will leave full. Again thank you to the staff for making us feel so welcomed. My fiancé and I couldn't stop talking about the great experience we had here in Patricia's. We'll see you again.
Ate dinner here a few times. Their most memorable dishes are definitely the pastas. The black spaghetti with shrimp and jalapeño is unbelievable. Fresh pasta with fresh shrimp and a slight kick. Soo good! Pizzas are classically perfect. Good crust meets fresh toppings. Wine list goes on. Recommend a good amorone to go with your pasta.
Desserts are also amazing. Save room for the Nutella pizza.
Great service!
Food was a bit bland, my lasagna came out cold. Took them awhile to bring it back to me…Service was ok but felt rushed and server wasn't very conversational or friendly. It wasn't even that busy either.
Would probably not return.
Nice place, good service. Food….hit/miss. Pasta fagioli = great. Veal parm – fair at best. I'd go again to see if I just chose the 'wrong' entrée. They really pushed the black pasta and a few other dishes. My second choice was home made papardelle, but they talked me out of it – again pushing some 'favorites'…next time, I'd try the pizza and get the pasta fagioli and the "Patricia salad"
So sad to write that I haven't experienced such a disappointing meal in a good while. I love to support local businesses but this place just doesn't do it for me.
Went there last night and ordered the Maine lobster ravioli. I was so psyched about it! Tasted it and my heart sank. First and foremost, I couldn't even taste lobster and mostly tasted ricotta cheese. When I did taste seafood, it tasted more like tuna fish. Also, the pasta was hard (undercooked) and thick. Clearly, this dish is not their speciality and I wouldn't be surprised if it were frozen and premade. There was also a long wait between the appetizers and entrees.
They aren't getting a worse review because it is a lovely place. Wonderful chandeliers and brick walls, and a beautiful wine cellar downstairs. Cleanly, too. Friendly staff that were attentive as well. Our waiter was very timely but was a bit clumsy by spilling some of the beer, clanging plates, and even putting his fingers on the plates. Nice guy, but could use a little more training.
The dessert was delicious. I got the toasted almond cake. Completely moist and light. Definitely yummy with coffee or tea. It would have been an awesome ending to a great meal but sadly, I didn't have a great meal. So, I write disappointedly. With plenty of Italian restaurants to choose from, I am not rushing to go back.
