Paul’s Daughter
“Walking around Coney Island you can't help but to wait to eat some raw clams like you did back in the day.”
“Also had fresh shucked cherrystone (large) clams, mixed with the cocktail sauce, it was totally worth it $16 for a dozen.”
“We enjoyed a corn dog, funnel cake and knish, this was the first time that I have ever tried the latter and it was awesome.”

I don't actually know who Paul's Daughter is. Maybe I dated her once? I can't remember. It's all a little foggy. No literally, it's foggy down here because Coney Island can get a little foggy in the mornings.
I can't really overstate how much I didn't like Paul's Daughter. It'd be the kind of place I'd give a 2 star rating to, if it had high ratings, but since it doesn't, I'll stick with a 3, which is about the lowest I go for family owned places. The hot dog just didn't do it for me and that's putting it mildly. And the bun was totally stale. My friend didn't like her food at all either. But then I literally have never enjoyed a single place I've tried in Coney Island, not even Nathan's. So maybe it's just me.
In England, seaside places are delicious. But then, they're also named boringly. I'd much rather eat Paul's Daughter than "Fred's Chips." Wouldn't you?
Funnel cake, sausage & peppers, and Brooklyn Lager. What can be better when walking along the Coney Island Boardwalk?
I love holes in the walls like these old school spots. They harken back to a simpler time when we ate and drank what we wanted and threw caution to the wind when it came to fat and calories. Fried clams, french fries, hot dogs, pizza, etc.
There are a few picnic tables close by that we planted our butts on to savor the tasty beers and food we devoured. Perfect way to people watch and enjoy the beach.
Don't expect high end eats here. Just enjoy the fatty goodness of fried foods and cold brews.
we didn't sample any of the food – my cousin and I had just finished a nutritious lunch at Nathan's – but we did enjoy some frosty beers right here on the boardwalk. prices are alright – I think it was 7 or 8 bucks for a draft beer. it was laid-back and a good place to start as we drank up and down the boardwalk that day.
Paul's Daughter is an institution on the Coney Island Boardwalk. It has been around for something like 50 plus years. There is no greater spot to have a pint of a local brew and people watch on the boardwalk.
Just be sure you don't buy a beer and then wander off to the boardwalk. The police can and will issue you a ticket. It's a rookie mistake, but Paul's Daughter does have signs saying not to walk away.
This should be on everybody's bucket list as one of the best places to have a brew in NYC, possible the country.
My first funnel cake of the summer was eaten here. And….it was toward the end of the summer so I was on a mission! Receiving the funnel cake took forever…and I'm not sure why considering I stood there the entire time watching the process unfold or better yet heat up. Then they just walked by my funnel like I wasn't standing there waiting on it. I had to remind them. Once I got the funnel in my hand it was war and I one! Well with sugar spot wounds left on my attire so they definitely left their mark. But really it was a good funnel cake. I've really never had that bad of a funnel cake except the one I tried to go home and make after I thought I learned how to make them in home economics…Epic Failure!
Fresh shucked little neck clams! Right by the ocean. Can it get any better than that! We ordered a dozen clams and they were fresh and delicious. Add some lemon, cocktail sauce, and Tabasco and your set. They also have sausage and peppers sandwich, fried clams, beer, hotdogs and corn dogs! Good service and food! Right on the boardwalk
Chilly wind was blowing sprays of ocean water over boardwalk…
Fresh clams tasted just like a wind – clean, with a bit of saltiness. Like a bit of happiness in little shells.
We split lobster roll again – it was buttery delicious, with huge chunks of lobster and nicely toasted roll.
Drinks, nice conversation with friends about nothing at all, watching people passing on a boardwalk, and soaking last summer sunlight.
How perfect.
It was a typical boardwalk restaurant. Not bad, but not great. Here's the breakdown of what we ate:
The good:
– The Lobster Roll: even though it was on the pricey side, it was amazing. According to my girlfriend, she rated it as "better than Red Hook, but not as good as Luke's Lobster." I thought it was delicious and there were huge portions of lobster in it. The bread was also well buttered and crunchy and moist all at the same time. I just wish it didn't have those darned celery pieces in it. I hate celery.
The okay:
– Fried Chicken: why did we even order this? I have no idea, but for the price, it was a pretty big meal (I'm always surprised that Coney Island isn't quite as overpriced as I expect it to be). The chicken tasted like it had been sitting out for a while, especially since they got it out to us immediately after I ordered it (fast service is good… I guess?). Anyway, if you're hungry, get it. If not, eh…
– Funnel Cake: okay truth be told, I swallowed this thing down as though it was a can of coke. I literally just shoved that shtuff straight down my throat. It didn't taste all that good, but my girlfriend kept threatening to throw it away because "you're getting too fat." So I had to wolf it down before she made her threats a reality. Anyway, the funnel cake was just too soggy. It's supposed to be at least a little crispy, right?
