  1. I pass by this place all the time on Smith Street, so it was a bit ironic that I only tried them when they came to my office as a popup (via Fooda). It wasn't as customizable as it is in store (from what I've heard), but I won't fault them for that. I ended up with the nero pasta with their meat sauce and meatballs. The meat sauce wasn't great. Very watery and too tart. Probably should've been reduced a lot more with maybe tomato paste to cut the sourness. The meatballs were fine, but hard to discern what it constituted. Portions were smaller than what you get in shop, and a dollar or so more expensive, so that's a big meh.

  2. I walked down the street in search for a cafe and came by this gem. My friend gave me a hard time for stopping for a pre-dinner snack. Pazzi Pasta hit the spot. Their build your pasta model really work. You're not forced to eat something which died under a heating lamp. I chose their Sicilian olive tagliatelle with Puttanesca sauce. What a treat. I'm definitely going back!

  3. Love this place! Fresh delicious pasta, quick and easy, and kid friendly! One of the few restaurants I'm willing to come to with my little kids (aged 3 and 1) thanks to their play area corner. We've had just about every pasta and sauce combo and you can't go wrong with any of it. Oh and bread with pesto is some of the best I've ever had (I know it's weird to say that about bread).

  4. Came to Yelp in hopes of finding a great Italian place that was: a) not in Little Italy and b) doesn't have pizza. This place showed up and according to the reviews, is worth my time. Sadly, my experience says otherwise.

I came here and sat inside, awaiting my boyfriend's arrival. We filled out the little plastic menu thing, gave it to the woman and sat back down. Moments after we were seated, she came up to me telling me that my choice of grain was out of stock for the night. I asked her to help me choose between spinach shells and spirals. She said spirals so I said okay I'll go with that. I also chose two sauces (one had salmon pieces in it) and added mushrooms. I was so horrified when she arrived later on with our food. First of all, she somehow forgot that SHE CHOSE MY GRAIN FOR ME and still gave me the wrong one. The pasta was also very undercooked. Not even al dente, just undercooked. The sauce had salmon CRUMBS in it, and about 4 half slithers of mushroom in it. Bland and overall very disappointing. My guy's pasta was also disappointing. He's not a picky person and will usually eat anything and I can tell he wasn't too into it. I don't know, man. These reviews make this place sound great and I wish I felt that way. It was pretty late, around maybe 9-10pm? I understand being a little off of your game after a long day but this was just bad. I'm honestly scared to go back and spend $15 on what tasted like pasta I found in a garbage can on the side of a street. I hate to say things like that but I was really shocked by my experience here. I can only hope that if I do come back, it'll be very different.

Edit: Upon reading other reviews, some of my complaints have excited since the opening of this place. Clearly something or someone is the reason that this establishment is so inconsistent.

  5. I'm torn between 3.5 and 4. This is a homemade pasta place on a casual Chipotle-meets-Meatball-Shop service model. You pick up a menu at the start of the counter, mark what you'd like with a provided dry erase marker, and hand it to the staff. Then… you sit down and wait for food? They didn't take our payment until after the meal, and there wasn't really an opportunity to buy drinks because only the cook was behind the counter (early evening on a Saturday). The wait was much longer than I expected for a ready-made type of meal, but my pasta was really tasty. I recommend both the cheese sauce and the vegan cauliflower sauce. The bread was pretty stale though.

  6. While exploring a friend's new neighborhood, we came across this place and stopped in. 5 of us decided to share a couple of bowls to see what the fuss is about. As the granddaughter of Brooklyn Sicilians all I can say: pretentious.  There's nothing Italian about this place. You get on a line, order on little cards, and it's like a pasta factory. Maybe I'm too old for this but if you're paying $15.00 or so for a bowl of pasta, you kind of want a more authentic European dinner experience and not have to feel like you're sitting in a kiddie cafeteria.  I guess I'm too old for this. I don't mean I'm looking for an old-school red sauce place, I'm just looking for that neighborhood feel. This felt more like a gimmick at a mall food court. If you think that these different pasta choices are all that unusual, you didn't grow up near a neighborhood salumeria.

We ordered the Nero de Seppia, the black cuttlefish ink pasta with Puttanesca sauce. First huge problem – there was absolutely, positively no bite to the puttanesca. None. It was a nice little sauce but absolutely not puttanesca.

Our other dish was Einkorn with pesto and mushrooms. It was good but not spectacular.

It took a very long time to get served, which was surprising. It wasn't that busy although a few people (mostly with kids) came in after us. Most were getting take-out. It was beyond freezing and when I mentioned it to the young lady who was working the register, she said it was because we were near the window and that it was very warm in the back. There wasn't enough seating for 5 anywhere else and when I went back to the bathroom, that was even colder.

Summation: Food: OK, puttanesca needs work.
Atmosphere: not my cup of tea
    Service: a tad inexperienced

  7. I've been wanting to come here for such a long time already, so my boyfriend and I decided to come the other night for dinner, and I'm glad we did. We came in on a Monday night and it was literally dead in there, there was one other couple dinning, but it was super quiet which made it a little awkward, but that was the only down part of the experience.
The concept of Pazzi Pasta is cool. They have menus and dry erase markers which you mark off the pasta, sauce, and any sides you want to order. There is such a variety of different pastas to choose from which I thought was great. As apps we split the pazzi salad and both got the bread, as entrees I chose the tagliatelle pasta with the pesto sauce and my boyfriend got the tagliatelle with the bolognese sauce. The salad was good, and the olive oil they serve the bread with was also really good. Both of our pasta dishes were great, I tried the bolognese and it was outrageous. The pasta is cooked perfectly and tastes so fresh; it makes the dish.
The portions are nicely sized and the food is excellent. From reading reviews on Yelp I expected the food to be decent, but I was really impressed with it. I will definitely return when I am in the area.

  8. I've been meaning to try Pazzi Pasta for some time now, and today, I ordered delivery via DoorDash.  The food arrive within 1 hour, and exceeded my expectations (considering it was delivery, I expected to reheat my pasta, but it arrive piping hot, which was nice).  I ordered their small spinach pasta with salmon & gorgonzola and added mushrooms.  My pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauce was delicious, and the portion was huuuuge!  I will definitely be ordering from Pazzi Pasta again.
