Came to Pepe's after hearing so many great reviews as well as seeing them on Yelp. It's a very small establishment with a few seats for sitting if you want to stay and eat. I was greeted by Pepe who is a very nice guy. He asked how I heard about them & I showed him the reviews he has on Yelp. He was definitely amazed. Anyway I ordered the buffalo shrimp with fries. While waiting for my food Pepe brought me out a sample of their Mac and cheese to try. I'm not a big mac & cheese person but it was delicious I must say. When I got my order I tried it as soon as I got to the car. The shrimp is battered which I didn't expect being that I don't really like fried foods. The shrimp has a sweet and spicy taste, very very filling. Was it good enough for me to go back and get more.. Ummm probably not.
Holy effing amazing! Five stars through and through, both service and food. Thank you guys so much for making a "passing through town" side trip really memorable. And the fish – some of the best I've ever had (including in London and the deep south)!!
I would give 6 stars if possible. Excellent, excellent excellent. We ordered the whiting with fries, fried chicken with Mac and cheese and yams. When my partner went to pick up the order he said the owner Pepe came out to chat with him and ended up giving him a sample plate to try. The whiting was melt in your mouth fresh and not greasy. Fried chicken had a savory crispy skin and again was not greasy or fatty.
The sides were equally as impressive especially the potato salad. Fries were fresh cut. This is a take out only establishment although there is a small counter with a few seats. My only regret is that we weren't staying in the area long enough to eat there again. Pepe takes pride in what he does and it shows in the quality of his food.
Found this place on Yelp, we were in the neighborhood, and looking for a place to grab some lunch. Parking was easy, I guess because it was the coldest day of the year. I thought it was a sit down place, but it wasn't. There are high seats to sit along the wall, with a small place to sit, you order at the counter. The owner was nice enough to let me sample the buffalo sauce, which seems to be the most popular, since I don't like spicy stuff I was a little hesitant to order without knowing how spicy it is, it wasn't that bad, but I wanted to try the Thai sauce also, which I liked better, and ordered the jumbo shrimp, Thai sauce with macaroni & cheese, instead of the French fries. My husband ordered the same, we also got the fresh homemade fruit punch, which was very refreshing. The shrimp was delicious! Fresh, huge, had a nice crunch to it, the macaroni & cheese was very creamy, you can tell it was made fresh, and with love. I absolutely love to see a family owned business where the owners take pride in their food. The men were very passionate and humble, not even knowing the amount of good reviews they have on Yelp. If I am even in the neighborhood again, I will be sure to grab some shrimp, and say hello.
These guys are awesome. This is cheap, wonderful tasting grub. I got the combo with the thai chili seasoning. The shrimp were done perfectly and drenched in the sauce and the fish was perfectly breaded. The guy at the register… wonderful man. Nice people, good food. Perfect.
Great food & great environment. The Thai jumbo shrimp had great flavor not to hot and not to sweet. It was all balanced well. Very friendly people who work there as well. I highly recommend going to Pepe place.
