This is my updated review for Pepperjack, Grill.
Listen, the atmosphere always kicks butt. And by listen, I mean listen to the super fun cover bands! I have sung along with these bands every time. This is one of the highest points of this cool place. I love where they moved the stage, it makes a lot more sense!
Well, I guess I need to get to the hard part. Pepperjack got only four stars because some of the food we ordered was less than fresh and was promptly sent back. However, John the manager redeemed this no-no by coming to our table, apologizing and taking this off our bill. The second round of ordering food came out extra fast. My husband had the baked eggplant with pesto which he said was very good, and I had the pistachio beet salad, which was very tasty. Our server was extremely accommodating from the get-go.
There was a cinco de mayo special on margaritas which were almost undrinkable, but the long island iced tea I ordered after was pretty darn good.
I love this place, so I will give it another try.
Management: I sneaked a peak at your Mother's Day menu and there were zero options for vegetarians!!! Turned me off from going!
Ps, I really enjoy coloring on the paper table coverings with crayons!
My envy of Staten island is starting to gain some momentum.
Pepper Jack Grill definitely deserves a 4 1/2 star for the freindly staff and quick service.
the colorful outdoor seating adds to the vibe and the music was a bonus. but that was for a private party. hence we were seated inside.
We were greeted right away and got comfy while they brought out chips and dips, outrageously delicious.
ordered 2 main dishes
buffalo mac n cheese holy cow, blew my taste buds.
Turkey chili Taco Salad was freshly made.
for drinks we started off with the white rabbit and the piano man, the rest is history.
love this place will be back soon.
Pro:
-There's a lovely older (I believe blond) women who works the bar and she knows how to make great drinks! All the bartenders are really friendly and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Really nice for brunch or drinks with the girls. Pretty much everyone in the staff is pleasant. Another plus, they offer a good assortment of Gluten free opions, which many places on Staten Island do not (unless you want a salad ) !
-Great live music
Con:
– The wait for your meal to come is OUTRAGEOUS! We had an 7:30 reservation. We ordered out appetizers and main course, and the appetizers came out 20 minutes later, while the main coarse came out 40 minutes AFTER the appetizers. I understand that everything is made fresh but that wait time is a little to excessive.
I wasn't crazy about the food, personally I did not see anything special or note worthy about it, nor anything bad to complain about. It was just OK.
Came for Friday night dinner, awesome experience I'd say. Decor is unique they support local artists, you're also allowed to draw on the table tops whoop whoop. Our waiter was super attentive and friendly. He was on top of our drinks and made sure we were ok. Great service. Appetizers we ordered the traditional calamari, a bit salty for my taste, but they were gone in 10 minutes. Entrees.l ordered the pulled pork sandwich with BBQ sauce on the side. Amazing! Super delicious. Top it with coleslaw which was soooo good. My boyfriend ordered the Mac Daddy Wrap which was just as good. Great establishment only thing is took off a star for entrance. When you come in the main entrance in front of Manor that actual leads to the bar you'd have to walk around the bar into the dining room. I did notice that there is a side entrance which is for the dining area. It's a must try here.
We've been here about 4 times.
This last time warranted a review and it's only as high as it is only because we've been there before.
We sat down outside with our dog. We came here because last time they were so nice to him (bringing water dish and toys etc.) sat outside for over ten minutes, so I got up and went to the hostess stand. There was no one stationed at the hostess stand. A waiter came over and brought menus outside for us, but no silverware. Our waiter came over roughly 15 minutes after that. Took our order, brought the wrong sized drink (and charged us for the larger one we didn't get). Dinner arrived an hour and ten minutes after ordering. Both my husbands orders were wrong.
I got the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, bread was good, cheese was American like cheese from the wrapper cheese, meat was really salty.
Nothing we ate was particularly good. I was so saddened by this experience I thought they got over all these issues.
December 2015-wrote a new review-I think this place has a lot of potential. I did see it was on tv once for having terrible service. I think every time I've come here, I have experienced a poor attitude from at least one employee. My birthday experience was no different. So I chose this place because they tend to have live music and the vibe is fun. I like all the colors on the wall and layout of the place. So I made the reservation over a week ahead. I arrived about ten minutes before our time. For a table of ten, they had us set up in a terrible back room-away from all the music and ambiance. I asked to sit where the fun is and the hostess (maybe even owner?) refused! I said we were about eight people now so could they please accommodate us. She treated me as if I was nuts to not appreciate the hidden, quiet room tucked away in the back. I then told her we would be leaving because that wasn't what I expected (especially when there were clearly open tables). Eventually she caved and let us sit amongst the fun. Although I wasn't surprised by her attitude because it was typical of every other time I've come here. Once we couldn't get a booth on a week night because they refused to clean a table. The part that bothers me is since they were on tv they are well aware of their issue. Wouldn't a business want to fix a problem, rather than lose customers?
Besides the consistently unpleasant experience with employees, the food is good for the most part. The complimentary chips and dip are one of the reasons I return. The zucchini sticks are greasy but tasty. I had the bacon mac and cheese. It's decadent and has a nice portion of lobster on it. My friend had the turkey lettuce wrap which was inedible. Another friend had the cobb salad. The chicken came on a separate plate because they forgot to put it on the salad. They brought out an awesome dessert for my birthday. Our waitress was cool and worked very hard. People like her are what this place needs before it's too late.
I've had brunch here. The bottomless drinks are sugary and the food is rich. If you're not counting calories and don't mind a headache from the drinks, then this is the spot!
They don't like to take more than 3 credit cards regardless of the amount of money you're dropping!
The three stars still? I am hopeful Yelp reviews about consistent issues will help them fix some major issues before they lose customers. Plus we FINALLY had an awesome waitress. I'm a big fan of their happy hour menu, complimentary chips with dip and lobster macaroni with cheese. I'll be back but not many more times unless they fix the issues. I would never return with a big group for an occasion. They fully lost me on that being that we almost all relocated due to the hostesses (probably owner?) terrible attitude.
Attended an afternoon bridal shower here. There is street parking so be aware. I must have walked in the bar side because I wasn't greeted by a hostess and there were no signs point to the private room in the back where the party was hosted. Not a great first impression.
The private room was very quaint, cool in temperature, and very quiet compared to the restaurant which was a plus.
They gave us a salad, pasta, and a buffet of steak, chicken, potatoes, and mixed veggies. We also had a cake.
There was soda on the table, we were offered wine and mamosa's. I don't drink so I'm not sure if you could order from the bar but I'm sure if u asked they would have accommodated.
The food I had was very good. If they have their jack daniel's steak or order off of the regular menu I would get that dish. It had a a lot of flavor but was not over powering.
They also seemed to have events at the restaurant. I believe April 8th is Psychic night. I'm not from the area but it seemed like a fun place to go out.
This business is broken up into three different sections. A catering/event space, a restaurant, and a bar. The event space is completely different while the other two you can move in between. I came here only for the bar around 4 on a Saturday.
I just happened to stumble upon this place during a bike ride and when I saw the very large tropical themed front patio I had to stop in. There's something beyond just the tropical theme that makes you feel you're no where near NYC anymore, it's that little feeling I enjoy from time to time. I'm never a fan of plastic chairs but if they come in the form of Adirondack chairs and are outside then I'm all in. I'm also not normally drawn in by patios that are on the sidewalk but as this is Staten Island it's quiet and empty out front and you get an interesting view of a castle-like National Guard building across the street flanked by a couple tanks.
The business itself is very clean and features daily events (lots of live music), specials, and a dart board. The prices, especially during happy hour is excellent. select bottles were $3 during happy hour and they had some good looking $5 cocktails as well.
They also feature a $5 appetizer specials during happy hour, I got the turkey chili and cheese potato wedges. The portion was smaller than I expected but perfect for a one person app. It was definitely tasty and worth the Lincoln.
The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is the bartender didn't really do a good job and I reserve that last star for places with great service.
