Peppino’s

“Peppinos has a good brick oven that burns hot enough to make a thin crust that's neither droopy nor brittle.”

“The garlic crisps and bread are yummy and plentiful and the salads are a good size (and their vinegar is delicious.)”

“Peppinos pies start with a subtle and slightly sweet tomato base, then layered with fresh mozzarella and adorned with your choice of toppings.”

  1. I've been wanting to try this place for such a long time. Finally yesterday I got around to it. It did not disappoint. I ordered the chicken Cesar salad and I shared a personal margarita pizza. The pizza is the reason I'm not giving it five stars. It was good don't get me wrong but I have had better elsewhere. The salad however was very good. It was a nice sized portion and the chicken was juicy and flavorful. Also it wasn't drenched in dressing. Eating that I was full until dinner time. I will be coming back.

  2. This is a truly lovely Italian restaurant in Park Slope. Everyone that works there is incredibly friendly and actually remembers you. Tables are covered in the classic red and white checkered table cloths you see in old school Italian places. There is a decent variety of dishes, although they could use with a bit of an expansion of the menu. The bruschetta is amazing, the roasted red peppers with mozz and balsamic sandwich is incredible, the pizza is great, the pastas are pretty good. Love this spot! Prices are great!

  3. Very authentic Italian dishes! I recommend the Penne Rustico! The sauce was very flavorful with peppers, sausage, and mushrooms. The portion was huge. We ordered take out and it was my dinner and breakfast. I didn't get to try the brick oven pizza, but I will order that next time.

  4. Despite what other reviews say, this place is only decent because of interior and reasonably Italian music.

With only two wines and cooks unable even to properly cook the crust of a calzone, without speaking if a sub-par quality of ingredients ( in our case-especially the Italian sasage), this restaurant definitely does not deserve the grade it currently have on Yelp.

Cherry on the top-we had to assist to a fight between a waiter and a delivery boy and spend most of our meal with our water glasses empty, without any of the waiters noticing.

Definetely would not recommend but for someone who already lives around and is testing all the pizza joints of the neighborhood.

  5. My sister says she was craving shrimp scampi, so I of course hit up Yelp!, and Peppino's comes up, already bookmarked. "Peppino's!! Are they affiliated with Peppino's of Bay Ridge?!?" Idk.. So she's pulling out her phone faster than Kim K snapping naked selfies, and to her delight, yes, one in the same.. She then goes onto explain her dreamy look across her face. Her old apartment in Bay Ridge was up the block of the other location, and then begins describing a magically wonderful bruschetta appetizer she was addicted to those years ago. Later that evening, we are eating Peppino's Bruschette Appetizer, and I now understand the excitement. Its an amazingly light, fresh, crunchy and perfect. It's hallowed out Italian bread, broiled crunchy, and topped with a fresh garlic infused tomato salsa like topping.. Definitely will be experimenting on a home made version! We move onto the entrees, a Shrimp Oreganata, and I go with the Orrechiettie.. Both are substantial dishes, and very tasty.. I think the Orrechiettie was done perfectly, and could be a go to  it was that good. We ended out visit with a cheesecake slice that was pretty darn good.. Firm, yet a little creamy.. Not gooey like mine or Juniors, but very enjoyable none the less. On a side note, the staff was outstanding, very attentive and knowledgeable on the foods offered, and friendly.

  6. It's early evening on a cold, damp Saturday and my tummy craves something comforting and covered in sauce; like grandma used to make, that is, if I had an Italian grandma. Listed on the Yelp Top 100 places to dine in Brooklyn, Peppino's busts out grandma-worthy meatballs and sauce for days! To the balls I flew and feasted on along with my Arrabiata infused whole wheat penne pasta. When my friend shared a piece of his Spinach Ravioli, I found myself wishing I had an extra stomach just to have my own order. The greetings and service are very much "family style" – everyone smiles at you and is super helpful/accommodating. You just feel this overwhelming sense that they're happy you are stuffing your face and want you to stay awhile, even if the place is packed all around you.

  7. Peppinos is a small restaurant for great oven baked pizza. Good service! Great Brick oven pizza! Never too crowded! Prices are affordable!

They offer both oven baked pizza and baby oven baked pizza. Both are very good, but baby is good for one person is you do not want to share. My favorite baked oven pizza is the chicken pizza or pizza alla vodka.

  8. The linguine was what I expected, regular pasta with sauce. Portion was a bit small but I shared with my boyfriend. We also had wood fire margarita which I was super disappointed at it. It was too fast, which I knew meant it wouldn't be crunchy or how wood fire pizza should taste. It wasn't bad but I wasn't happy with it. The Tartufo was good but didn't have a hard shell. Price wise it was great, customer service was good too.
