Pho32 & Shabu

“Haven't met an appetizer that I didn't like- summer rolls, fried egg rolls, pot stickers, pork chop (again), and the lettuce wraps (these are my favorite)”

“However, all the pho orders my table got with brisket or chicken were really delicious.”

“The vegetables are fresh and crisp and the chicken delicious – grilled with onions on a cast iron pan.”

  1. I always manage to come to this location near midnight and always love the service I receive. There's this one man who I've seen a couple of times working the night shift, seemingly solo. There are actually a decent amount of people that come to eat late at night and despite this, this one worker displays awesome service. He is undoubtably the best server I've seen when it comes to re-filling your cup of water. I seriously only took like two sips of water when he dashed his way through the aisle to give me some more water. If he sees that your water cup is not full to the top, he will come and re-fill it. It's pretty amusing to be honest. He also gave me and my friend complimentary soda on the house. Also, he asked if we needed more kimchi even though we only ate two pieces out of the dish we already had. He's funny. But I truly appreciate and remember when servers go out of their way to treat me well, whether or not it's intentional. He's earning his tip and I don't mind tipping someone more than necessary if they've treated me exceptionally well. At times though, I do feel sorry for him because he seems burnt out and sweaty as he never stops moving around from table to table to kitchen to table.

The food at Pho32 is always the same. I loved it, love it, and will always love it. I mean, my favorite pho restaurant is in Boston but this place is at home, 24 hours, and satisfies my craving for the time being so I have no negative things to say about the food.

They do not take American Express and the minimum charge for credit card is $10!

  2. I don't know why I never left a review for this place before, but honestly, it was probably because most of the times I've visited this restaurant, it's been at 3am after a night of some serious drinking =X.

Anyway, this place is not Vietnamese at all. All the food and flavors have been Koreanized for sure since it is actually run by Koreans. Nothing is AMAZING, but the pho and other dishes will do if you have a craving and can't get to any place better or more authentic. But then again, I'm not super picky with my pho, so I may not be the best judge. Regardless, this place is 24 hours and conveniently located on the other side of Bell Blvd away from the bars, so I think it's fine for what it is.

PS: The same guy has worked here for YEARS. Just had to get that out lol.

  3. Surprisingly enjoyed their "shabu shabu" option in various ways! My expectation has been that high after that amazing experience in Honolulu.

The pricing is fixed for each order ( choice of meat, broth, tray of vegetables, spices and tea)
    Love the following:
    1. the vegetables that are part of  the order are plentiful
    2. could ask for a broth refill
    3. there is controllable hotpot stove for each designated seat
    4. the teapot is refillable
    5. various spices and side dish option
    6. big and cute dining room
    7.we were seated right away
    8. good service
    9. 24/7 hour
    10. close to transportation
    11. residential parking

Their sides are pretty good too. I enjoyed  most the vegetable wrap-freshly made.

it was a good experience. Might come back to bring with me the whole clan (ha-ha-ha!)

  4. What's great about this place is that it's 24/7. I went late at night so I managed to find a spot right in front. It's metered parking during certain times.

There was plenty of seating when I walked in so I didn't have to wait. We started off with the Spring rolls as appetizers. It was crunchy and just like any other spring roll you'd find at any other Asian restaurant. I'm not too much of a Spring roll fan, but these were okay for me.

I can only comment on their pho, since that's what I ordered. Haven't tried anything else on their menu. My friend and I ordered a large order of the PH4: Brisket, Flank, Soft Tendon, and Triple Phos. I added in the bean sprouts, lime, as well as the oyster sauce to give it a little bit more taste. The noodles were good and had the right texture to them, not too soft or hard. The meat tasted okay as well. I just wish for a large order there was a bit more, but that's just me being greedy and wanting to get my money's worth for a $10 meal of pho.

The service was good, and the waiters were there when you needed them. What I liked also is that even after paying the bill my friend and I still sat there for about an extra hour and they didn't make any gesture or signal for us to leave. Perhaps maybe it wasn't crowded so it didn't matter anyways. It's a good pho place to go to if you're looking to get in a quick meal.

  5. It's open 24 hours!!!

Yes, Pho32 is a chain and I've been to the other ones. No, I'm not going to give it 3 stars just because it's a chain. There's seriously nothing wrong with this place. I enjoyed my PH4: pho with beef, tendon, tripe, all the good stuff.

So it's not "authentic" or whatever, who cares. They satisfied any late-night pho cravings for those of you who don't have Vietnamese parents to make you some.

  6. My first time PHOing.

It was… interesting.. in a good way.

    Had the brisket pho.

Added some sriracha, lime, cilantro and it was a pretty damn awesome combo of flavors.

    Asian-Latinish I guess.. lol.

The brisket was very tender and flavorful. Noodles were good, but I prefer ramen (yes I know ramen is Japanese).

    Will return for sure.

I do have to deduct some stars for cleanliness — not totally up to par.

  7. This place is going downhill.  First off, the place is filthy.  If the dining room is this bad, I don't want to know what the kitchen is like. The pork chops were dry, like they were reheated from the day before, and it was on top of rotten lettuce..MmmMm..delicious.  They also gave us some rotten cilantro.  Everything here is actually pretty expensive – definitely not worth it.

I don't want to come back to this place anymore.

  8. With Pho restaurants becoming more and more scarce in Queens, Pho 32 is one of the few places still serving food. While it is definitely far from being the best pho i've ever had, it is still a solid place buy some food to warm you up in queens.

From the many times that I've come to Pho 32, the Pho was always inconsistent. Like they stretched a pot of soup by adding more water, then again since it is open 24/7 I go during weird hours. The most recent time I've been there, (8pm) the soup wasn't that watered down, but the fact that it's done at this restaurant should serve as a warning of the inconsistency that you'll experience where.
