Excellent place to get breakfast or a bagel on the Upper East Side — and all kinds of cream cheese, whitefish, lox, etc… this place just buzzes… it's New York at it's New Yorkiest! It gets 4 Stars b/c it's classic New York (although I know some New Yorkers will disagree 😉
Some great bagels here on the upper east side. Prices are typical of the area but the bagels are fresh and the service is quick even during peak times. I haven't had other things besides many different kinds of bagels and cream cheese here so I can't speak to that, but the bagels are always very good. I highly recommend.
Had the egg and cheese sammy on the works bagel and surprisingly, not too flavorful. Also had a whole wheat bagel with low fat schmear. Again, pretty straightforward. I'd look forward to trying other bagel shops in the city.
The hunt for best bagel continues and this place gets 2 stars for bagels but a 5 star for something else..more on that later.
I lucked out — basket of bagels came out fresh, they were still warm, looked perfectly puffy and thick. The outside was perfectly crispy and inside chewy- so the texture was right on..but the flavor – there was none..zero. So 2 stars for this bagel. Priced too high at $1.25. This bagel needs lots of schmear to taste good.
Now
on to the winner…
The black and white cookie. I never would have gotten one here if I had not read someone's comment on a food article that they make the best. It actually looked pretty bad but tasted delicious – with the best chocolate icing I've found yet and the cookie part not too cake-like and dry like so many other places. Definitely returning for a b&w, not the bagels!
This location is a world of a difference between the one in Gramercy.
The inside is actually pretty nice, more of a starbucks feel. They have a wide range of flat bagels, the people behind making the bagels are nice and pretty fast. The bagels themselves are pretty good, top 10 that I've had in NY. They are a little pricey, for a flat bagel with cream cheese and a small coffee it was upwards of $8…
When we came on a Friday morning it was pretty packed, but even with a line you don't have to wait very long.
The employee at the register was so rude. She had absolutely no idea what was available or even on the menu. That itself ruined my experience… not coming back.
Didn't realize how extensive the menu would be. It's a really exciting place for sandwich and breakfast lovers.
I had an everything bagel with vege cream cheese. It was loaded up spread in typical fashion and made for a long happy meal.
Long line but it went really quickly. Don't be intimidated. Ordered over the counter while in line and got our food by the time we paid. They seem disorganized but made no mistakes and were very efficient. Food was great. Definitely recommend the extra two dollars for the lox spread on your bagel!
