Decent pizza if you're in a rush. Delivery is usually very fast. The outdoor seating is nice in the summer.
Came to pie~zon for lunch for a farwell for a co-worker. Ordered a who bruschetta pizza for four of us. Since we got there so close to when they opened they just gave us the one that just came out of the ovan which was really nice.
The pie was really good and the crust was thin. There was a little bit of an acidity to the pizza which gave it a nice little zing. Overall i disapointed we didnt find this places sooner.
Similar to other reviews on here, the food is very inconsistent. We ordered from here one time and were very pleased, the next time it was terrible. I had an eggplant parm which was very oily with too little sauce and cheese. My advice… Give the good cook a raise and fire the other
My girlfriend was at a good friend's house once upon a time and they had ordered a pie from here that my girlfriend really, really liked. She had a hankering for a Margarita pizza (tomato, fresh basil, and mozzarella…in case you don't know) and insisted on coming here. We asked for tomato, basil, and garlic, and of course, they charged for each topping. At first glance, I thought the toppings were really skimpy. When I started eating, I could barely taste the toppings. Skimpiness confirmed. The basil was minced, rather than whole leaf, and it was very lightly sprinkled. I think out of the whole pie, I probably only tasted the garlic in two bites. Then again, I added a crap-load of garlic powder so who knows what I actually tasted. It wasn't a horrible pie, but it was boring and easily forgettable.
Since August 20th, I've been eating fried chicken from NYFC for dinner. And honestly, I'm getting tired of it. What am I going for this time? Chinese? McDonalds? …Dunkin' Donuts!? Nope. We're going Italian, capiche?
Upon walking in, the counter will be on your left and the handful of tables on your right. There are also a handful of umbrella-covered tables outside; they're perfect for those breezy late afternoons. If you're ordering pizza, a metal stand will be brought to your table where the tray will be placed on.
Fried Calamari ($9.95): On its own, the calamari is a but short on flavor but once you dip a calamari ring in their bowl of marinara sauce, it tastes great. The marinara is perfect; it has a subtle sweetness to it and does not have an overwhelming tanginess.
Garlic Knots ($2.95): You get eight fairly large garlic knots to go with the marinara sauce. Each piece was nicely coated with garlic and Parmesan cheese. While it's listed as a "side order," it would be great as an appetizer as well. The only problem that I have with this is that a couple of the garlic knots were very tough to chew. You literally have to rip them part with your teeth.
Fried Calamari Over Salad ($11.95): I won't dwell too much on this as the calamari is exactly the same as the fried calamari appetizer. You get a three color salad with various kinds of vegetables that is then topped with plenty of calamari rings. To finish it off, a rich and tangy balsamic vinaigrette is drizzled over the entire salad.
Cheesesteak Pizza ($20.95): This is tied for the most expensive specialty pizza that they offer, the other being the Parm Pizza. Their full-sized specialties are 18" octagon shaped pizzas that have a crispy thin crust. Pie-Zon's Cheesesteak Pizza consists of finely chopped steak, sautéed onions, mushrooms, peppers, and mozzarella. While I found the pizza to be a bit greasy, it was hard for me not to love it. There was a little bit of everything in each bite. The crust isn't paper thin, but you do get a bit of that crispiness. It is pre-sliced, so no need to worry about having to slice it on your own. Best part about this pizza: It actually tastes like a Cheesesteak.
Pie-Zon Pizza Cafe offers a variety of appetizers, fresh salads, wraps, specialty hot sandwiches, various hot and cold sandwiches, cheesesteaks, various types of pizza, and garlic bread/garlic knots — all of which are reasonable priced. They also serve meat balls and sausage in their regular and children's menu. Service may take awhile but the food is cooked to order. It's convenient for those working in the area or for those staying at the nearby Turtle Brook Inn.
