  1. I have got to stop going to places that aren't located anywhere near the south and ordering southern food. Its beginning to be a problem.
I thought the restaurant was cute and had a very reasonable wait on a weekday. We loved the donuts, verrrry delicious. I had the biscuits and gravy and NY sure does like their sage. It was so so sage-y, I couldn't finish half. The only sage that should grace a southern gravy lives deep inside the sausage. My husband got the chicken and waffles and enjoyed it and adding hot sauce is a must. I think I will come back and try something different.

  2. come with an appetite. it's a lotta food and try to snag a table in the back, it's partially outside and a little less chaotic than the front area.

I ordered the fried chicken and waffles, as one does. it was really good but I definitely could have split it with my friend. 2 waffles, 2 giant pieces of fried chicken, poached blueberries and syrup. I actually did kinda split it with my friend, he ate one of the pieces of chicken.

he ordered the cat fish sandwich which looked good but like a smaller, more reasonable portion.

    all in all, a+.

apparently, I need to come back for the donuts.

  3. Appropriately named for the Southern style pies, Biscuit honey & hot Sauce  fried chicken that they're churning out of here and right onto my thighs! I can tell you that they have one of the best Bourbon Pecan Pies I've yet to taste and I normally do not like Pecan Pie but will make it an exception for Pies and Thigh Version of Bourbon Southern Pecan Pie so much so that I decided to buy a whole pie for the families Sunday Dinner, this Pie right here is jamming with the perfect amount of sweet, crunchy, salt, chocolaty Bourbon goodnes add a dollop of Whip Cream and its Heaven on earth, yes that good.

If your hungry get the Honey Butter biscuit & Chicken with hot sauce this was all the rage with my boys so much so I decided to get me one on the next visit, this is a very rich, heavy and thick sandwich but very very good if your hungry – I leave this to my boys.

I also bought a Chicken & Catfish box as a takeout order since this location is tight, cramped and small and not my thing for comfortable dining especially eating southern style fare loaded up with butter honey and all the other fixings. You need room to expand and spread out eating this stuff and a comfortable pair of stretch pants on too.

I didn't bother checking the actual orders before I left I took my packaged bag and went home but when I got home the Catfish box hurt my feelings; when I opened it there was about two sorry skimpy pieces of fried baby catfish in the box for the price of $14.25 – I was shocked! The chicken box was better but wasn't mine. We agreed that we're not doing take out here again for the food other than the loaded Chicken Biscuit & Whole pies.

The menu however looks promising and has lots of my southern favorites included on it so I would like to visit here on an off day/hour simply because I don't do excessive crowds and tight seating at the same time.

  4. One word: AMAZING!!!

I tried Pies-n-Thighs at the suggestion of a colleague and it did not disappoint.

At first glance, this restaurant seems very small.  But there is additional seating in the back.  My daughter and I sat in the back near the barn doors.  We both ordered the Mac and Cheese and Collard Greens.  She got the fried chicken and I, the fried catfish.  Both sides were delicious, as was the meat.  My daughter loved the hot sauce (and she doesn't like hot sauce).  It definitely added a wonderful kick of flavor.

    Can't wait to go back.

  5. omg yum

juicy good finger lickin fried chicken.

buttery biscuit. you know it's bad but you eat the whole heap of it anyways

creamy & cheesy mac n cheese, just yes.

just go. you won't regret it. unless you hate chicken, or fried things, or happiness…. kidding, but not really

wish i had room to try the pie! plan accordingly so you can try it and lmk how that goes

  6. I decided to head to Brooklyn and try this place out due to the yelp reviews. Unfortunately, I don't see what all the fuss is about.

It's a cute place, the tables are kind of close together which makes you feel a little crammed in. Apparently, there's a back area to eat, but I never ventured back there. The servers were nice enough, but they never came back to see if everything was ok or if I needed anything.

I ordered the chicken and waffles, a side of cheese grits and a mimosa. I had to laugh because for $8, my mimosa is kids size, well of course there's no such thing as kid sized mimosa but look at the picture, it's tiny…lol Chicken was were not great, just ok. The waffle wasn't even hot enough to melt the butter and the chicken was dry. I had to put syrup on both to try to add moisture. The two or three bites of peaches it came with had good flavor. The cheese grits were actually surprisingly good.

There are so many great places to get a bite to eat in NY and unfortunately this wasn't one of them. Maybe trying to cook southern food should be left to the southerns..lol

  7. Came here solely for the chicken and waffles but I was let down, ngl. The chicken was meh, a bit on the dry side and too breaded, though I liked the waffles quite much – they were buckwheat blueberry waffles with a peanut butter spread, which are healthier and also tastier than your regular waffles. But overall I've had much better chicken and waffles elsewhere. I also tried friend's biscuit which was nice and fluffy. The super chicken box is a good choice if you're not too hungry, since you can eat half and take the other half home. Definitely go there on a weekday; I went in the middle of the week for dinner and there was hardly any wait for a table.

  8. I can't quite remember where I heard about this place, perhaps in a food magazine? Or just from scrolling past IG posts from all the foodie accounts I follow? So when I had the pleasure of showing my friend through Brooklyn for the first time, I knew we had to come to Williamsburg and I knew, or I thought, we had to come here.

Both of us were pretty underwhelmed. I'm a wuss when it comes to sending food back, as I ordered the chicken sandwich, not remembering there's a normal, pretty run of the mill chicken sandwich and then there's a biscuit chicken sandwich. This is a semi-serious suggestion, but you'd think the default when be the biscuit one, when I can pretty much get a fried chicken sandwich at my local deli. Not so much on a biscuit. My friend took pity on my biscuitlessness and let me have his that came with his fried chicken box.

My fries were some of the palest, saddest fries. Just very plain, boring, bland, and just plate filler really and that's unacceptable. The mac 'n' cheese was great and the collard greens were amazing, but my friend did take issue with the fact that they automatically add Frank's hot sauce to both sides, without letting you know, which isn't really necessary.

The whole experience was very average. I always thought this place was a total destination place, worth making a trip out of the way for, so I was let down a good deal. At least now I know.
