This place reminds me of Texas because of one reason – the portions of their food are huuuuuuge!!! I shared a philly cheesesteak with my father after finding out the size of the sandwich (that also came with fries) could be meant for two people to eat! We both had a six inch philly cheesesteak and were completely full!
The basket of bread with butter served as you get your drinks was a great way to get the pains of being hungry and tired from walking so much around Manhattan earlier in the day.
With super friendly service, sweet waitress, and a warm kitchen, I was completely satisfied with my meal here. Wifi was spotty but worked better when you are at the front bar (closer to the hotel).
If you're here at the holiday inn, this restaurant is probably your best bet for delicious food. The food portion of the meal was plenty. The taste of the food was delicious. I ordered the lasagna which was recommended by a friend it also came with sourdough bread and a garden salad with a light vinaigrette dressing. We came in at I'd say happy hour it was a little loud and service was a little slow but waitress was very friendly and apologized for the wait which we didn't mind at all. Overall, the food was worth it and if ever in the area again I'll be sure to try other things on their menu.
Terrible service. After ignoring me for awhile bartender asks: oh did you need something?" Me: yes please. I would like to order something to go. Bartender: stares at me. "You need a menu?"
Finally got a menu. She served everyone else and ignored me. I walked out after 15 minutes of being ignored.
Good food. Stuffed chicken parm is great. I honestly only go before or after Mets games, but they have a great atmosphere around those times. Its too expensive in my opinion for a hotel restaurant. If the lot is full (which happens often) parking sucks.
I came down for breakfast after staying at the hotel. I had heard from coworkers that the food was pretty good. I sat myself at a table and waited over 10 minutes for a menu. No hello, no "just a minute", no beverage order. The young girl did her best to avoid eye contact even though there were only five other parties there at the time. While sitting there waiting, I saw other patrons waiting for drinks or food items. So I got up and left and found a delicious Mexican restaurant on Roosevelt around the corner.
I came here to watch a game during the World Series and I was super impressed by the service. Of course this place was a mad house since our beloved Mets were playing and the manager Dina went beyond to make sure we were comfortable and even made arrangements for us to get a bigger table since our group got pretty large. Even after moving us to a bigger table since we had more people coming she was kind enough to get us more chairs from the back. Dina you rock and thanks for the amazing service.
Now lets talk about food and drinks. I got the chicken teriyaki strips which were really good and a very large portion. Then I ordered the meatball hero (I couldn't help myself I eat a lot when I'm anxious watching the games) and this was also good and pretty big that I shared with my group.
Drinks were okay a bit on the weak side but it is what it is.
Restaurant located inside of Holiday Inn La Guardia Airport.
Stopped here due to limited available options for travelers. (nothing nearby unless you venture out in to the neighborhood, which we out-of-towners were unwilling to do).
Got a hankering for soup: chicken meatballs, served with cut up pasta (various shapes) and diced vegetables. The soup itself was quite flavorful but those meatballs were alarmingly tough and dry – you could practically bounce them off the floor.
However, my companion got a bowl of Seafood bisque, which itself seemed very generous although a bit unrefined : not smooth like most bisques are, although flavorful, so it was slightly too thick.
Crab cakes were excellent alone. Served with a mayonnaise based sauce on the side – generous amount of crab and not filler only.
Also generous: Meatballs ! This dish was two baseball sized meatballs, served with lots of marinara sauce and melty cheeses. Delicious! Lots of toasted bread to sop up the juices too.
Did not expect such huge portions, but I was happy with both appetizers.
I am sure the entrees are equally huge.
All in all, average waiter service, and the comments posted by other guests are right on. I guess the service reflects a sort of lackadaisical attitude, but it's new York, so maybe this is how they roll!
What can I say about this place? Their buffalo wings are pretty good. The prices are average and the service is okay. It's just an average place. They definitely don't strive to be better than average they strive to just make it. So I leave being A-OK with my experience. I don't have an option for two and a half stars so I put three because I would be back. I feel it leans toward a three instead of a two. Definitely try their wings, they'll bring you back for a second visit. No doubt.
