  1. Cool spot to grab pizza in Yorkville.

The managers have done a nice job of bringing a trendy yet casual restaurant to the neighborhood.  Inside features a retro beachside theme that draws sizeable crowds.  Dinner tends to be a busy time for the restaurant so try making reservations beforehand, especially if you are eating with a larger group.  You may have some luck as a walk-in guest if you are a smaller group.  For example, I came here with a friend this past Saturday night and we were seated despite OpenTable showing no availabilities.

The food menu includes appetizers, veggies, salads, pizzas, and main dishes with plenty of vegetarian and vegan-friendly options.  I am a fan of the burrata and meatball appetizers and margherita, salumi picante, and pineapple & speck pizzas.  The wine menu is straightforward (40 bottles for $40 each or $10 per glass), and there is a good selection of beer and non-alcoholic drinks as well.  Service has been friendly and attentive in my experiences.

I recommend checking it out if you find yourself nearby.  I will be sure to stop by again sometime soon!

  2. I'm of the opinion that it requires pretty incredible pizza to make it worth going to a sit down restaurant where you pay over 20 bucks per personal pie. There's just too much cheap tasty pizza, even in New York.

That said, Pizza Beach's pizza does not live up to that requirement. The food was solid but unspectacular. The mushroom & stacciatella was pretty good, but nothing special. The Salumi Picante was basically just another pepperoni pizza.

The only thing I truly enjoyed was the Gin Blossom drink. Smooth, tasty, strong. The sangria was average.

The place gets packed on weekend evenings. The volume is overwhelming. My friend and I were yelling just to hear each other 4 feet away. The service was pleasant.

  3. Came here last night with a group of four for dinner. Per the waiters' recommendations, we ordered the mushroom and mascarpone pizza and the spicy salumi one. I liked the interior decoration and the staff was very friendly.

Our pizzas came out pretty quickly, although they forgot to bring us plates and I had to prompt the staff for the check.

Would be willing to come back and try out the other pies!

  4. As a wise rapper named Lil Wayne once stated "Life is a beach, I'm just playin' in the sand"
At Pizza Beach, life is indeed a beach- a beach made up of delicious pizza.

My BF and I walked by on the weekend- it was packed (with families! there were all these strollers parked outside) and we were curious to see what the buzz was about.
We ordered the Mushroom & Stracciatella pizza and the Sweet Potatoes with Avocado. The pizza was fresh out of the oven (so fresh that my BF and I both burned the roofs of mouths hahaha…) Soft, doughy and fresh, the pizza was topped off with a generous portion of mushrooms. Try it with some red pepper flakes!
The Sweet Potatoes and Avocadoes were broiled and flavored with coriander and cumin. The sweet potatoes had a nice smoky flavor but the avocado chunks were bland.
Price is on the expensive side for a pizza that size and service was a little slow. However, pizza was on point, so I recommend!

  5. Based on the 3-stars, there's a balanced good:bad ratio to the ratings. The good tend to focus on the ambience and good food. It seems that the general theme of the complaints trend towards good food, but not worth the $$ and poor service.

I'm in the middle. The meatballs, corn compote, salads were really great. The first slice of the salami pizza was great too. It had a light, crispy, crunchy crusty. Every slice there after was doughy.

There were a lot of problems at our table, albeit management did a great job of damage control. On the night we went, the drinks came out after the apps. The average wait time for drinks was 25 mins, the orders never came complete. I feel bad, but the service was horribly slow

  6. You know, I'm really not sure how I feel about Pizza Beach. Once again, I feel as though the prices were too high for the final product, though the pizzas were quite delicious, and the restaurant itself was too loud and dark, even though both of those factors could have been way worse. I know I'll end up here again at some point, since it's a family favorite, but I don't know that I'll come back on my own.

Since we were at a place that had pizza in its name, our group decided to split three pizzas between the four of us: the margherita, the zucca, and the roasted pear. For $52 before tax and tip, the pizzas should have been larger. We only took home two slices overall. However, they were quite tasty, which helped immensely. Honestly, the margherita was the only one that didn't thrill me. It's your basic margherita, nothing flashy, nothing outstanding. I absolutely loved the roasted pear, that one was my favorite. The caramelized onions worked well with the pears and arugula, giving it a slightly sweet and surprising crunch. Finally, the zucca was creative and the flavors melded together nicely. I hadn't thought of kale as a viable pizza topping before, but why not? It's one of those things you don't think about and then becomes glaringly obvious in hindsight.

If you find yourself on the Upper East Side and aren't sure what to do for dinner, Pizza Beach is a perfectly fine option. If you know of a place where you would get more pizza for the price, I would recommend going there first before dropping $19 on a moderately sized pizza, even if it is delicious.

  7. Had a fun night with friends here. The decor of this place is so cute. Its super loud but its def a fun time. Pizza crusts itself were great but I felt like they packed it with too many veggies and no cheese. Veggies we ordered were interesting yet a bit salty. I loved the romaine and the burrata was perfect. The staff was nice but def rushed us a bit. We were there for a bday and they were asking to clean our plates every two seconds. I will come back and try other pizzas.

  8. The two stars are for atmosphere and service. The place is really really pretty. They string lights all over the ceiling so it's really romantic and intimate. HOWEVER, my pizza was inedible. I ordered the mushroom pizza and it was completely flavorless. I literally could not even eat it. My friend ordered the salumi pizza and finished it, but said it was only okay. After tip and tax, my total came up to almost $30 and I didn't even eat my pizza so it was definitely not worth it.
