This place seriously deserves a great review after having delicious lunch for the office . This place is very consistent , they have never messed up and order and every item is packed nice and neat. You know those situations where you order something but then it gets turned over or flopped around and its a total mess when you open it? , well not with this place!. I've tried at least three different wraps here from the Mexican fajita wrap, to the turkey wrap, bruschetta wrap with veal or chicken and d'amore wrap and they have never let me down in terms of taste and quality , portion or price. They all are served in a neat container with pickles and coleslaw and they are extremely filling. The sandwiches are also solid on Panini bread where it isn't too light or heavy, it really hits the spot. I also was eyeing my coworkers eggplant parm wrap which had the perfect amount of cheese and marinara sauce with yummy Italian hero bread.
I also love the square pizza and mini personal pizzas, however I am taking a star off because the prices for the pizza pies are way too expensive, they charge tons for toppings or the special pies that already come with toppings end up costing over 20 bucks! however the single slices are solid , they are really large and not stingy on the cheese and the sauce has a sweet hint to it .
It is so easy to place an order, they take cash or cards over the phone or via grubhub, when I write specific instructions they actually read it[lots of other places via grubhub ignore my special requests], or if they run out of something they are nice enough to call me to offer other options.I have also never waited long for my order to arrive, and overall the staff from the restaurant are very friendly.
I look forward to trying the appetizers and entrees from here for dinner and I would even use them for catering,
I ordered the chicken wings because I was craving them while I was at my boyfriend's house. The chicken wings were super crunchy but I don't think it did my stomach any good. My boyfriend ordered the minestrone soup, I think that's what it was called. It was a huge portion and it was good. The delivery took about 30 minutes which isn't bad at all.
I'll compare this location of Pizza D'Amore to other local pizzerias rather than bash them for not being exactly like the classy Mill Basin location.
I order through Grubhub–entrees and rolls–and a polite young man delivers them quick. The food comes hot and delicious, in sturdy (reusable!) plastic deep-dish containers not flimsy leaky aluminum.
Salad or pasta comes with entrees. Usually pizzerias make you order salad separately.
I love the variety of pasta choices (spaghetti, linguini, fussilli, ziti, rigatoni, fettuccini, capellini, whole-wheat penne) compared with typical pizzerias (just spaghetti or ziti). D'Amore cooks all the pastas right, slightly al-dente. Pizzerias generally overcook pasta. I usually get pasta primavera on angel hair, exactly the same recipe and ingredients as in Mill Basin, delicious.
The rolls are oversize and automatically come with sauce, included in the price. One roll from D'Amore is filling enough for my man-size family members. From anywhere else they need 2 rolls apiece and have to ask specially for sauce.
And the soups, e.g. pasta e fagioli (so good!), are also very large and filling. One soup with a side salad can be a meal.
I think the pricing is commensurate with the portion sizes and quality of the food. Definitely a keeper!
