I was absolutely CRAVING pizza (what a fatass, I just had Ippudo late last night), and decided to check out this new joint by work. I decided to get a spinach Stromboli. It's smaller and I can hold it in my hand, which makes it less of a mess to eat at work! They only had spinach calzones left, so I got that.
I don't eat a lot of calzone, so I don't know how it's usually made. There was whole spinach in there, which made it hard to eat. I'd keep on pulling the never ending threads of spinach from my first bite, and would end up with a giant mouthful of spinach. There was way too much mozzarella in there, and the ingredients weren't mixed well. The left side of my calzone was all spinach, the middle was ricotta, and the right was mozz. All of this made it a bad choose in terms of desk food… very messy indeed!
Usually calzones will come with a side of marinara (I looked this up as sauce is my favorite part of many Italian dishes), but the container I got was so small, I used it all up in the first few bites.
It didn't taste bad, just OK. So why the 4 stars? It only cost me $5… the Yelp menu says $7, but I was totally only charged $5. Even the guy who was rung up before me was shocked at the price he was charged for his meal. Super cheap!!!! And for super cheap food, you need to re-calibrate your expectations.
Thank God for this place being so close to my corporate apartment! After traveling with 2 and 1-year-old boys, my oldest screamed, "Pizza!" which made this place a must. One thing that was a downer is there's no ramp to access the facility (a big step up), making wheelchairs and folks with a stroller crap out of luck. (There weren't any high chairs to my knowledge.)
The place was quaint but had a pretty sizable menu of edibles, including a nice list of pizzas. The guy who was working when we were there was SUPER friendly and made the experience all the more enjoyable. The food was good so I have no complaints about it!
Stumbled onto this place randomly since it's pretty close to where I live. Service was awesome. This place gives off that family vibe — makes you feel like you're visiting an old friend rather than looking for a place to eat. I tried their margherita pizza and while very good (the added pesto-? gave it a fresh flavor) – found it a tad bit oily for my liking. Had it with some garlic knots which was a great combo. Overall great quality pizza with great service – will definitely return!
