  1. I really like Finnegan's – it's definitely a legitimate pub in the bar area, but the restaurant part is very cute as well. The decorations are very eclectic, with stuff EVERYWHERE, but it's charming and not distracting.

The bar area is pretty tight so you may have to hover to wait for people to leave (and then immediately swoop in), but standing isn't a problem. The crowd is always fun too – it's not a douchey Jersey bar by any means. Even when it's super packed, the bartenders are on their game and are very quick to take and fill orders.

I don't come here as often as I should, since I live down the street, but love it every time I do venture there.

  2. This is another one of those places where they could literally be serving you grilled, wadded up paper towel and you'd never notice.  Atmosphere at this place is amazing.

  3. I love Finnegan's.  I've been going there for almost 20 years, and every time I wonder to myself why I don't go more often.  They have a large menu of fairly standard and traditional pup food, with some "standard American" stuff too.  It is usually crowded in there, the kitchen does and consistently good job, and the bar – although it is small – is nice too (and usually crowded).  This is one of Westwood's top choices.

  4. Not much on appearance but food was great. Loved the lunch special. The salads a good. Great place to meet friends and have a drink.

  5. You may think style of a local restaurant sporting banners of local school is exclusive to chains like Applebees and such, but PJ Finnegan's creates that local home atmosphere without the stamp of a chain restaurant.

All of the food items are pretty good and I loved the Dublin steak sandwich.  Pair that with a draft of Palm and you have a great meal.

If you want a casual dinner in a friendly spot, don't overlook PJ Finnegan's.

  6. Another great Irish pub in the bergen county area. Small and great atmosphere with great food.

  7. Wish I could agree with most of the other reviewers but the only two things I really liked about this place was 1) the authenticity of the Irish pub decore and 2) the breadsticks. I went here middle of the day during the week with my Mom. Our waitress was friendly but not all too helpful.

Seeing a sign outside showcasing their red or white sangeria, I ordered myself a glass of white which was a mistake since it was way too sweet! Food: I ordered one of the lunch specials, filet mignon sandwich on ciabatta roll substituting the french fries with mashed potatoes thanks to another Yelpers' advice. Mom got an open-faced burger with mushrooms and a side salad. Both items were a bit greasy and my sandwich was hard to handle, quite literally falling out of the roll. Halfway in, I decided to ditch the roll and eat the meat, caramelized onions and melted cheese alone. The mashed potatoes were delicious but heavier than I anticipated.

Didn't stay too much longer before asking for the check. Waitress never came by to ask how our food was beforehand so it was reflected in the tip. I'd suggest this place if you can't find somewhere else in town.

  8. I had heard great things about this restaurant and stopped in for the first time on New Years Eve day. I'm glad we got there around 6:15 pm, because by 6:30 the place was pretty packed! I loved the decor right off the bat-it looked very authentic and festive, and the gentleman who greeted us had a great Irish accent.

I ordered the broiled salmon with green beens and sweet potato wedges, and it was delicious. I refrained from seeing the dessert menu when our waitress offered but the table next to mine ordered the bread pudding and I experienced some serious food envy. Next time I'll have to save room for dessert!

Our waitress Sarah was friendly and helpful in providing descriptions of menu items. We all commented on how sweet she was when we left the restaurant. We had a great experience here-the atmosphere is warm and inviting and the food was great and well-priced. Great spot in Westwood!
