As I returned to party here another summer, I have to say there is some room for improvement for this hot spot.
What I did like on sundays is the two for 1 deal until 6:00, however their competitors in coney island actually have this deal for the whole night.
I also like that admission is free until 5 PM, and 5 dollars afterwards.
There is a great improvement in the furniture and set up, I like the sofas and tables, and the hot professional dancers on the steps in the dancefloor.
The music here was also really good , depending on who spins here, sometimes they have 90's music, other times they have dancehall and carribean music, it all just depends.
I don't like the fact that there was only one waitress who was hard to catch for a ratio of 50 people, theres too many bartenders and not enough servers.
I also did not appreciate how dirty the bathroom was, something smelled off, then my best friend told me there was fresh sh** on the floor, I hope I did not step on it!
Also, the sinks were clogged and there was only one soap dispenser, seriously?
The best part is the rowdy crowd that this place tends to attract. Not only did I get into a fight with some old creepy guido who was desperate, but there was a whole group of drunk guys and girls who were swinging at whoever came near them.
I think this place has so much potential to be the hottest place in coney island, but there are still some things that need to be worked on.
What a nice spot. As I was walking on the boardwalk with my bf, I heard music playing and stumbled upon Place To Beach. This place was very nice. I could tell people were having a good time because it was packed. The place has two sides, one facing the boardwalk and the other in the back where there were playing music. The cover for the guys $10 and the ladies $5. Not too bad. So we went to the back to sit and have drinks. The music was great, a lil of everything. I asked the bartender what kind of mixed drinks they offered and he said margaritas, daiquiris, and pina coladas. My bf and I ordered margaritas, one frozen and another on the rocks. Wow were they great. Very nice and strong. We ordered more of course and were jammin' to the music. We were able to snag seats near the dj. However, after 9pm the waitress said you have to order food in order to continue sitting in this area. I've been sitting here for the past 3 hrs how come no one told me. Oh well. I was like ok can we get guacamole and chips and a chicken quesadilla plus another round. The food was great. The guacamole was ok but the chips were fresh. However, the chicken quesadilla was delicious. Omg I was so happy I ordered it. Very flavorful, the chicken was seasoned well and there was a lot of cheese. Very happy. Since this was the 4th of July, without realizing it 9:30pm came and we could see the fireworks from our table. What a great view. Awesome time. The music was great and the ambiance was cool. Definitely stopping by again.
It was my first trip to Coney Island to attend a concert at the new amphitheater so I got to the area very early on a Monday to enjoy the boardwalk, rides, Nathan's and all that Coney Island has to offer.
After stuffing our face and getting on some rollercoasters, my friends and I decided to take a walk on the boardwalk. We came across Place to Beach and I was intrigued by the drinks I saw others having. I walked up the counter where I noticed on their wall menu a signed that said "ask your bartender for the specialty cocktails menu". When I asked, he pointed right at the sign and said "that's the menu". I looked back at him, "no that's the beer menu. I want to see what cocktails you have". He looked confused and after a few minutes of us staring awkwardly at each other waiting for someone to say something, he laughed and said I'll make you a drink. I accepted the challenge and asked for vodka and creativity. He produced a peachy/pink that was perfect! Not too sweet, not too strong, citrusy and perfect for the hot weather that day. I have no idea what went into it besides the vodka but everyone in my group tried it and we all ended up ordering that drink.
The prices are pretty high due to the location but still worth it! PTB is located right on the boardwalk and is ideal for grabbing a drink or a bite while people watching. I've heard from other people that this is the place to be on a weekend. I didn't try any of the food but I will definitely be back for drinks if I'm in the area again.
This place is located right on the boardwalk and is ideal for grabbing a bite and a beer when on the beach or walking on the boardwalk. Drinks are not the cheapest but that's what you would expect from the location. A Corona was $7. Not sure about mixed drinks, but I think we can assume they are more. We also got chips and guac, which was inordinately expensive for the amount that was given. a tiny travel to go cup filled with, what was essentially just mashed up avocado and nothing else. It was plain, it was boring, and it was not worth $11.
Place To Beach is a great place to people-watch. However, the drinks are very expensive and it's very difficult to find a seat. I remember coming here one sunny afternoon and encountered a really drunk woman by the bar. It was entertaining, but annoying after a while. It's not the best place for drinks. I have yet to try their food.
This is a great location, if you can get a seat.. Right on the boardwalk, in the sunshine, steps away from the beach.
We had to hang around for a while for a table to free up, but once we did, we had a great time enjoying the sunshine and people watching. The prices are on the pricey side, but I suppose that is to be expected in this location.
We had some drinks and food, I had a diet coke which was a bit nasty, it didn't taste right and was kind of watered down? Anyway, moving on. My husband and I shared nacho's and some egg rolls. The portion was HUGE, had we realized we might have just gone with nacho's! The egg rolls however were great and the nacho's were ok, the cheese wasn't great, they were average, I still devoured them!
All in all, it's a great spot for drinks and a bar snack. I probably wouldn't have anything more substantial here.
my cousin and I parked ourselves in the front area of Place To Beach for a good two hours and had some of the best people-watching of our lives there. Coronas (7 bucks each; ah well, that's boardwalk pricing) fueled a good deal of our Haterade-laced commentary. the front gives you a view in a perfect spot: right by the big bathroom building, the NYPD lost child containment zone (why wasn't the one kid using her iPhone to call her parents?!), and of course the entrance to the private back area of PTB where there's a cover charge (yes, you read that correct).
the bartenders at the front bar were great, and one of them even looked like another one of our relatives. I may or may not have referred to him by our nickname for said relative, but he didn't seem to appreciate it.
highlight of it all: a woman getting hauled away in cuffs and paraded down the boardwalk for causing a ruckus. apparently someone got a little out of hand enjoying their bottle service (yes, you read that correct as well). at this point we were 8 beers deep and I was crying and choking from laughing so hard.
After a long sweaty afternoon on the beach at Coney Island nothing beats some good grub and some cold drinks! My mom and her boyfriend were visiting town this past week so we decided to check out Coney Island since neither of them had ever been.
So after spending a couple of hours on the stifling hot beach we decided to stop here since it was the 1st place that caught our eye on the boardwalk. We were also drawn in by the outside seating right on the boardwalk. We had front row seats for all the different characters that find their way to Coney Island during the summer. The seating is perfect for people watching but also beware of the frequent panhandlers in the area. We were approached several times during our meal for spare change.
We ordered tacos and an order of the Mac n Cheese bites. I originally order beef tacos. After placing my order I was informed that they were out of ground beef so I got pork instead. The tacos were rather soggy and lacked flavor/spice. The Mac and Cheese bites were semi tasty but tasted as if they were filled with Kraft macaroni and cheese. The food was more of a 2.5. I'm sure there has to be better places to eat on the boardwalk. We also ordered frozen margaritas and a couple rounds of Coney Island beers which were on tap. The margaritas were strong and hit the spot. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the margaritas, beer, and prime Coney Island boardwalk seating but would probably opt to eat elsewhere.
