While in town recently for a very special event, my most beautiful date and I came in to celebrate a very happy day. We changed things up a bit from our last trip and tried a cheese board and some duck. Couple that with a few celebratory drinks and a relaxing atmosphere, we have truly become fans of Plancha. Please keep up the good work.
Plancha, Plancha, Plancha!!! God I love this place too much.
There's nothing bad I can say about this spot. From the decor to the atmosphere, to the food and friendly staff… it's everything you want on a Friday night… or any night of the week! Come here for the specials, the meat & cheese boards (the Spanish board is my fave) and the GREAT wine list. We love happy hour with their $5 drink specials and delicious sangria. Food is top notch, though my only wish is that they would change the menu more often… but that's where the specials reign supreme. Just go, and go again, because this place never gets old.
Love this place it wasn't crowded at all for a Sunday night which only means it's the perfect time to go. My three friends and I ordered the goat cheese, gorgonzola, and prosciutto to start- very tasty! We then proceeded with the tapas portions- the bone marrow, the Brussels sprouts, and the burrata cheese were the favorites, and second favorites was the beef sausage and potatoes. All and all the waitress was a total gem helped us pick out the items. I would come back here in a heart beat!
We visited Plancha on Monday night around 9pm and got immediate seating in the rear. Our party of 3 hungry souls was served by Valerie, a very affable wait person who took good care of us. For drinks we got 3 beers; Estrella from Spain, River Horse a Belgian Style Beer and my founders Porter, a very dark rich beer with wonderful taste. We ordered a combo board for 3 which included 3 meats and 3 cheeses which came with nice slices of a wonderful crusty bread with a generous coating of a delicious olive oil. The combination of the cheeses and meats was an explosion of flavors! Our Tapas were comprised of: wonderful Scallops, super crispy Duck and Chorizo sausage. All 3 were perfect.
Plancha is a laid back funky venue where you can relax, talk and enjoy good drinks and beer selections. Cant wait to go back and savor the many tastes and varities of food..
Was in Long Island visiting friends and was pleasantly surprised to find this place. It's very cozy so you probably want to get in early. By the time we left, there were lots of people waiting to be seated.
Here's what we ordered.
Started with the pick 5 meat and cheese board. They have a great selection and everything we ordered was good. Comes with grapes and a jam. Personal favorites were probably the hot chorizo and pecorino.
Brussel sprouts: a lot of places serve brussel sprouts but shave it. This place has them whole which I liked. Cooked to a nice tender bite but still with a good crunch. But what made this was everything on top. Cheese, picked onion, cilantro, and a white sauce. It was creamy, tangy, and delicious. We started with one order and ended up ordering it 3 times. I highly suggest this one even if you don't like brussel sprouts.
Patatas bravas: I had this dish in Spain this summer so I had high expectations. It was pretty good. Well seasoned and sauces were good. One thing I realized is that this particular dish is different everywhere you go, even in Spain. Planchas' version was good. If you like fries, this is an obvious winner.
The next two were surprisingly good.
Pulpo: I usually don't like octopus and hardly ever order it but since the party wanted to try it, I gave it a taste and it was good. Wasn't rubbery at all. Really tender and cooked so well. It was served with a purée (sorry, don't remember what) and it was just really tasty. Definitely try this one!
Bone marrow: this is another thing I usually stay away from at restaurants because while I've had really good marrow, I've also had really bad ones. To me, it's not worth the risk. But again, the party wanted it so I gave it a try. It was made well. Seasoned well. Served with an onion jam and bread. It was great. The only thing is I wish the bread was toasted and served warm.
Service was excellent. Our server was always checking on us, she made great suggestions, and knew the menu well. My friends and I had a great time here and I plan to go back the next time I'm in NY.
Plancha was decent, but a bit overpriced for what it offers. I was here with a group of people so I got to try several tapas (patatas bravas, burrata, pulpo, and pork belly bocadillo). We also got one each of the Italian and Spanish board.
The meat and cheese board was pretty awesome. The Spanish board came with 6 items (3 meats and 3 cheeses). If you don't want a pre-made board, there is also the option of creating your own of either 3 or 5 choices. Other than this, the only dish that stood out was the burrata. It was creamy and paired nicely with a butternut squash puree.
Service was good, but slow because they were understaffed. Overall a decent place to wine and dine, but I won't be driving all the way out here just for Plancha.
PS. Avoid the sangria. It's watered down and tasteless. Just get a bottle of wine instead.
Plancha is my go to spot for wine and tapas. I always opt for a spanish or italian cheese board and then 2 or 3 tapas. And that is more than enough for 2 people. It's nice to sit at the bar and watch the chefs as they create these tasty dishes. I had my favorite dish here in the fall. It was a pumpkin barley risotto. I believe the menu changes seasonally, so I can't wait till this is back on the menu.
The atmosphere is cozy and intimate. Good music, dim lighting. Its great for a date night or to catch up with an old friend. Gets a bit crowded, especially on the weekends. Be sure to get there before the dinner crowd if you don't want to wait.
I love this place! I am a huge fan of wine bars and Salumi, their sister restaurant, is one of my fav so I figured I would like this place. It is actually awesome because it is the same menu and the same tapas selection and drink selection. We got the Italian board, scallops, meat sausage, peppers, burrata and the fingerling potatoes and I have to say every single thing was delicious! Lots of flavor and fresh ingredients. My fav though was definitely the scallops! Just amazing! And tons of options to choose from with a friendly staff. Everyone should check this place out!
