I have been here many times and the quality of food and service is good on most occasions, but sometimes it's mediocre, especially when it comes to the service. Have often had to wait a long time to order, get the check, etc when the staff is too busy chit chatting.
It's quite nice sitting outside in the summer and a good spot for people watching. They have a good selection of sandwiches and wraps, the pizzas are very good for a low price. It's a good place for meeting a friend over a cup of coffee or just hang out for a couple of hours over a glass of wine.
We have always walked by this cafe and it seems to draw a good crowd so we decided to go for lunch. I think this place is meant more for drinking and not for food. At least I hope that is true. I had a wrap and it came with french fries. My fiance had ravioli. Nothing was spectacular about either of our dishes. And the prices, oy!
We ordered sodas and they came out in bottles which can be cute but I think is just a tactic for getting more money from diners. We spent entirely too much on this mediocre meal and then had to wait forever for our waitress to bring the check/take our money.
I came here for the giant pina colada, pretty good not the best but deff. worth the price, never had food here, nice outdoor seating.
Came back here for mothers day to avoid the crowds. Had a cappucino with whipped cream and was charged extra for the whipped cream (over $1.00) 2 squirts and that can is paid for. My egg wrap was as good as I expected. My dessert I requested my crepe to have bananas and strawberries and I only got bananas but was charged for both which we had to straighten out when the bill arrived.
I was here in the winter, sat inside last time and all was well. Since it was a nice day I chose to eat outside. The tables are super wobbly and annoying, the garbage was flying down the street — yes not their fault but looking at the owner/manager standing there not doing anything I felt he should have picked up some of the garbage rather than acting useless.
When I went to the restroom (clean) the garbage was beginning to fly in through the front door and I had to walk over it — not cool.
Hey Buddy BEND OVER – PICK UP this is your place, this is a reflection of your pride and it was Mother's Day brunch time.
I would go back because I love their food I must admit, but I would definitely speak up when on my own. Yes I'm usually the one person who goes to the manager and says "Hey, your bathroom needs to be cleaned — now!"
First impressions counts & the interior design is excellent. Generous wood with accents of custom incandescent lamps, wide plush leather sofas, color adjusted tables, thoughtfully placed mirrors to emphasize the spaciousness & large open verdana doors are all fine. The drinks menu is long, deep & well curated with the staff able to make appropriate recommendations. The menu is solid American fare with Greek inspiration. All in all, a solid American place for eating & drinking. Bartender Nadine is popular & rightly so, she embodies the fun spirit prevalent in the staff.
I came here with my family for Mother's Day. On one of the worst days to go to a restaurant, there was no wait which was deeply appreciated.
We were here during brunch, and I was surprised at how delicious the egg wrap was. I got it with bacon and added american cheese. Very tasty and I believe it was under $7.00 with a side salad that had balsamic and apples in it. A really nice size meal for the price.
The service wasn't great despite that the place was relatively empty and when I ordered a "draft Guinness" off the menu, they brought out a bottle of Guinness Extra Stout. When I asked for a regular Guinness, she brought out a bottle of regular Guinness (which was fine with me) and said, "I'm not going to charge you for the other one"….Umm, yeah, I would hope not since I didn't drink any of it.
We had crepes for dessert, which were nutella & strawberry. They were very good and nice portions for $9.00.
What I didn't like, was that it seemed like they tried to make up for their low prices on dishes by nickel-and-diming you for other strange items. For instance, when you order a $4.00 cappuccino and they offer whip cream and syrup and you say yes, they add "cocktail open items" to the receipt. When I asked for an explanation, I was told those items represent the extra $1.50 for whip cream and $.75 for syrup? Confusing and not cool. Basically, each waitress could charge you whatever they want for those "open items" since they aren't programmed in and, charging for whip cream is pretty lame.
Based on the quality of the food, I would definitely try this place out again, but they definitely need to work on customer service a bit.
In Greek mythology (via Wikipedia), the Sirens were three dangerous bird-women, portrayed as seductresses who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. That's this place.
You are transfixed by pretty waitresses, nice outdoor seating, and good music. But then, things end in disgrace.
Went here last night. Our waitress was extremely friendly but wasn't all there. She didn't write down our order, then kept jumping back over to confirm what we asked for (she was wrong with every "guess").
Started with a bottle of wine. They don't have any wine names – you have to order by the varietal. They may as well say "Red or white?" We were brought a 2008 Cabernet that tasted like spiked Kedem grape juice (yeah Passover!)
Next was the Dip Sampler. This was awesome. Normally when ordering a hummus appetizer, you get a tiny scoop with 4 pitas. Here, we got three heaping scoops of baba ghanoush, hummus, tabbouleh, and more. It was delicious…and free pita refills.
Dinner was lobster ravioli with shrimp..could barely taste the lobster.
When the waitress came back over, I said that I didn't want anything else and would like the check. Her demeanor went from sunny to deeply annoyed. I'm not sure what a coffee would have done for her net worth, but she was not pleased.
When she brought the check, the following was hand written on it: "Gratuity is appreciated. But no tips on your credit card – cash only".
This was really annoying. I get that cash is preferred, but if you can handle accepting cards, you can accept tips that way too. And the note was a bit presumptuous.
The crowd was a little Euro-slutty for a corner cafe, but it never got so crowded/intense that it ruined things (see: Avenue). I'd go back, but only for the hummus or STDs.
I like this place! The staff is very nice and friendly. The food is good and the drinks are soo good! Surprisingly the mojitos come in huge glasses and are amazing!!! I've been here a couple of times and it's always a good time. It's never crazy packed and the crowd is chill. I like coming here to catch up with friends, get a light bite and some drinks.
