  1. Point Brazil in Astoria offers great Brazilian fare by the pound. They serve hot and cold buffet from breakfast to dinner. The favorites are bacalao with potatoes, olives and peppers, Feijoada and Tropeiro beans.

They also offer various grilled meat on a skewer (Churrascaria) such as fraldinha, picanha, sausages and pastries with fresh vegetables salad bar.

If you are overwhelmed by the extravagance of a buffet set up, the à la carte menu is available by request.

This place is pristine and spacious. The tables are set for the customers to enjoy the outside view.

There's very little interaction with the staff here since you get to grab your own plate, serve yourself and the lovely lady on the counter will weigh it for you.

I am a regular at this place as my check-ins can testify.

  2. Point Brazil good and tasty. Reasonable. Options. Great service. Clean.

What more can I say about Point Brazil. Everything that I like about a restaurant was said in seven key words: GOOD, TASTY, REASONABLE, OPTIONS, GREAT SERVICE and CLEAN.

Point Brazil is one of the 3 or 4 "Eat By The Pound" restaurants in Astoria. You know the deal: pile the plate with food and pay at the counter. Easy.

Now, what set these guys apart from the others are the small things about the experience. Friendly smile. Helpful in assisting customers. Food in smaller plates, pans, etc. to keep temp; (hot food hot and cold food cold), presentation of food (looks good), options (while you have the standards, different options day to day).

I GET THE IMPRESSION THEY WANT THEIR GUESTS TO HAVE A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. Say whatttttttttt…..

In all my visits I feel welcome, special and appreciated. I feel they want me to stay and enjoy, oh yes, and come back.

Meats are always tasty. My favorite sirloin. Always good and tender. I usually tell the guy give me the whole piece. Why waste time. It is rare, tasty and delicious. Hot and cold food selections to many to list, but if you are a veggie person (plenty of options). They have the standards: salad (4 or 5 items), rice, beans, stews, etc., etc., etc. You can not leave hungry here. There is something for everyone.

Point Brazil does a very good job. I know there will be some that will say that they are not as good as "Villa" or the other one on Broadway. To each their own, but I can say that you will find the quality to be better and doing the small things like busing your table while you enjoy your dessert. These guys have good food with great service. Always busing and cleaning.

I mean everyone in this place is making sure you feel WELCOME, SPECIAL and APPRECIATED. I will miss you Point Brazil in NJ. Till I visit again:)

  3. I decided to give this place a try after seeing all the reviews. The meat was alright I asked for medium rare it was more medium well.. The meat was also very salty. In my opinion I rather spend a little more and have my meat prepared right.

  4. Delicious grilled meats!  Everything was freshly prepared even though it's a pound by pound buffet style.  I dig the new decor and it makes it really easy to navigate around to get your food efficiently.  The staff nice even though there is minimal contact, since most of it is self-service.  You go in, grab a seat, pick up a plate, grab some food on it, pay the cashier, and dig in your amazing food.  They have a good selection and is balanced out both on meat and veggie options.  Please do visit this place.  I'm sure it won't be the first time I come here.

  5. I was in the neighborhood running an errand and I wanted to grab a quick bite to eat. I checked Yelp and Point Brazil had really good reviews and was close to where I was. The buffet is $5.99 a lb. They offered salad fixings, rice, beans, beef, chicken with mashed potatoes and other things as well. For $1.00 more per lb, you can get fresh Brazilian meat off the skewer. Unfortunately, I didn't see it until I loaded my plate up from the buffet. It looked really good so I will be coming back here again. At the register, they even sell coxchina for $0.90, which was room temperature and small; nonetheless, it was very tasty.

  6. Yes Yes Yes to Point Brazil. So close to my apt. So reasonably priced. Quick & Easy service. And most of all so so so delicious.

The food is fresh and offers a colorful variety of fish, chicken, pork, veggies and other homemade goodies. I have tried many things here and it's all very good. My fave so far is the salmon! Excellent!  A full tray of food could go for $10 and change but your tummy will be in food heaven.  I cannot comment on the authenticity of the food but I do know Brazilian dishes=meaty goodness and Point Brazil has a great selection of meaty goodness.  In addition, everything here is damn good so try it when in the neighborhood.

  7. One of my most favorite places in Astoria. The food is always delicious and there are always so many things to choose from. I love how there are many different types of salads and healthy options like salmon and grilled fish. The BBQ meat section is also very impressive at only $6.99 a pound for salmon and meats, and $5.99 a pound for everything else. I've been here multiple times and the staff is always very friendly and nice. This has become my go to spot after the gym. Love this place.

  8. Within it's group of peers in the immediate vicinity, this is a good option.   The selection and variety of the hot and cold buffet is above average, it's always very clean, lots of Brazilians eating.   Now for the not-so-good: they are a bit stingy when it comes to the grilled meat servings and the guy at the grill doesn't like to answer questions…that's neither here nor there if the meat was outstanding but it's just ok.  The quality of the beef they purchase is alright, with what they charge you for it, they should source another beef vendor.  What is most annoying though is that the rice and beans are bland…these are staples of South American food and they should be very good, better than the other things on the buffet, but they are just passable.  Only visit this spot if you can't make it to a better one and you're in the immediate area.  It's good but not impressive or memorable.  Extra points for the homemade desserts though.
