  1. Great Great Sicilian

Lots of cheese, nice concentrated sauce right under it, super toasted at the bottom. Get it with a side of sauce. Heaven

  2. Offensively horrid, and a complete waste of money.  Was still annoyed this morning when I saw my money in the trash can, as everything I received was inedible, unsalvageable, and only worth chucking away.

Ordered two specialty slices: chicken w/bacon and ranch…and meat lovers.  Also ordered fettuccini bolognese.

The specialty slices were MTO, in that they took a plain slice, put on toppings, sprinkled some new cheese on top, and popped it in the oven…though not long enough to actually warm the slices and melt the cheese.

So no integration of toppings with the cheese…just slapped on there.  No ranch on the chicken slice.  And lukewarm, at best, when it arrived (in warm weather, and from just down the street).  Tasted like cardboard with bland meat on it (so I can't imagine even the plain slice would be good).  Just horrible, and obnoxious to be given pizza which seemed to have been sitting out all day.

Bolognese was piping hot….though looked sketchy before I even opened it.  Smelled sketchy.  Tasted horrible.  The "fettucini" were straight up ramen noodle-esque (tasted exactly like the stuff in the big styrofoam cups from the dollar store).  No amount of added spices/cheese (read: I tried adding 3-year-aged gouda to it, as well as quality herbs and spices) could save it.  Straight up tasted like something you'd make in a college dorm with a random jar of meat ragu sauce and ramen noodles.

Too many good places in this 'hood for this crap to be in rotation.

  3. I love trying new restaurants. The only setback is the huge disappointment when the place is bad. And this place is exactly that.
Ordered for delivery got a meatlovers slice and a chicken parm grinder and a spinach roll.

"Meat lovers"- a plain cheese slice they threw pepperoni and sausage on and reheated. Greasy as all hell and just such a poor effort.

"Chicken parm hero"- hero, well this one didn't save my life. The worlds thinnest chicken of the world's largest piece of bread. They literally took one of those huge french baguette from the supermarket, cut it in half and threw some chicken cheese and sauce on it boom chicken parm.

Spinach roll- spinach rock. So hard so old. I also requested some marinara sauce on the side which I would have gladly paid for. Didn't come. I mean come on. Marinara sauce at a pizza place practically flows through the pipes.

Wow. Never been so inspired to write a review. I had to do it within my first couple of bites.

  4. I've tried many pizza places in this area since moving here. This is the best I've had thus far. Simple, no-nonsense pizza. A nice thin-but-not-too-thin crust, tasty sauce and cheese.
Ordered delivery by seamless, it arrived on time. I want to try the Hippie Roll, mostly just to find out what it is.
I haven't eaten in the place yet, but they recently expanded and their new size seems much roomier than most pizza shops in the area.
I will continue my hunt for Astoria's best pizza, but for now Polito's is on top.

  5. Hands down, the best regular pie in Astoria. Beats Dino's and Romano's by a long shot (I'm not sure why people like either).

  6. Great NY style pizza amd the large was very large! Staff were friendly and service was quick.

Authentic place to eat pizza while locals are watching the Mets on TV.

  7. The best local joint for pizza in Astoria. Nothing fancy but a great classic New York slice. The cheese is delicious and fresh – not that fake globby stuff that other places use. The sauce is flavorful and it's a good balance between the amount of sauce and cheese. The slice is also a good portion – not too thin that it loses its shape when you fold it but substantial enough to be satisfying.

It doesn't look like much from the outside but they have a nice spacious clean back area where you can enjoy your pizza at a table. The guys are always friendly and they make the pies quick. Definitely my favorite pizza spot in the neighborhood.

  8. I have been living in Astoria for over two years now and just recently discovered Polito's. What a great discovery this has been. Until now I have been less then satisfied with my pizza options in Astoria, but Polito's has finally changed that for me.  I mean you have a few fancy pizza shops that are great in Astoria, but when you just want an old fashion slice of NYC pizza Astoria was lacking.

The pizza is a nice thin with a perfectly crispy crust.  It has the perfect amount of sauce which has a great flavor to it.  The mozzarella is good quality cheese.  I find in many places the cheese is to stringy and seems almost fake.  Not here though.

After two years I have finally found my new pizza spot in Astoria.
