Yum! I had been here once before and honestly I didn't like my food, but my boyfriend loved his steak and wanted to come back. This time he got a steak in a red wine reduction and it was delicious, I got the farfalle cacciatore and it was amazing! It was so unbelievably delicious, I can't wait to come back now that I know what to order. I highly recommend it. The service and the atmosphere was also good.
Simply put, this place is an authentic Italian restaurant with great service, quality food and a great atmosphere. Definitely one of the better Italian places in this particular area of Brooklyn. If you came here on the weekend and had a bad experience, I'm not sure I can relate since I was here on a Tuesday night but I know you should give this place another shot based on what I experienced!
Try the Vidello Spedini or Burrata!
I love coming to Ponte Vecchio, it's for sure one of the top 5 Italian restaurants in Bayridge. It's such a nice romantic modern atmosphere. A group of 5 of us came on a Sunday night with an 8pm reservation. We sat by the bar and waited for everyone else to get there, and had a cocktail. Once everyone was there we were seated at a table in the back room.
Our server came right over to see if we needed any refills on our drinks and we ordered some apps. For appetizer we split the spedini and an order of penne vodka. The spedini was amazing, I've had it from another Italian restaurant in Bayridge before, but it was definitely better at Ponte Vecchio, the pasta was also delicious and cooked perfectly. We did want to order the stuffed artichoke, but they didn't have anymore so that was disappointing.
As an entree I got the chicken Marsala with no mushrooms, I know that's what Marsala is but I hate mushrooms, so no mushrooms for me ever lol. The entree came with a side of mashed and a small rice ball, it was great. All of my friends really enjoyed their meals as well.
The service and food was excellent, I can't wait to go back again.
This place is really sleek looking, very fancy looking and on the higher end scale of Bay Ridge but not totally crazy prices. The wine glasses and pours were huge, which was much appreciated. Our waiter, Mo-super friendly. I had the grilled octopus appetizer in a red wine reduction which was cooked perfectly with a little crisp on the outside. It came, oddly enough with mashed potatoes. The baked clams were meaty and flavorful.
The arugula salad was fresh, and I liked that the waiter knew we were sharing and portioned and plated it for each of us. I had the black pasta special with calamari and sausage which was delicious and spicy. A nice sized portion.
The desserts were a nice end to the meal, especially this frozen cheesecake in some kind of an ice cream cone. I thought the creme brûlée tasted a little too charred.
In retrospect though, I think the food was very salty because I felt so swollen after, but I guess that's why everything was so tasty!!
Another place I went to on father's day which has had some remodeling since I've been to it last. Once again, it's a place that's looking much nicer these days.
Ponte Vecchio is one of my dad's favorite restaurants in Brooklyn and my dad gets what he wants on his day.
The new bar in the front is beautiful. White, modern, sleek, with some beautiful couches behind it for those who are waiting. I love the look. The bartender was great. He made sure our drinks were strong, filled my bourbon on the rocks to the top, gave my sister a wine on the house. We made sure to tip him really well. And when my dad came in, he switched the television on to the Masters for him. As I said it's his day and he gets what he wants.
Once we sat down we started ordering lots of food. Stuffed figs wrapped in bacon, clams and spedini. It was a feast. My dish was excellent. Scaloppine Saltimbocca was a super tender piece of veal, with spinach under neath with hard boiled eggs and prosciutto on top. My father thought his meal was a bit too salty, so they exchanged it, no questions asked. I'll tell you again, it's his day and he'll get what he wants.
Another thing I appreciate here is the music. Why? Not because I like it but rather it's at that perfect volume when I'm at an Italian restaurant on a special day. Not too loud where I can't hear my conversation but loud enough where I don't hear the seven other families sitting around me.
Head to Ponte Vecchio, you'll be glad you did.
