  1. A solid 3.  I would like to give it four, but I'd be lying. I like potatoes-I mean, who doesn't? Especially Irish people like myself.  It's our one claim (minus that little famine).

So I came here planing for a healthier option.  Let's face it, the salad place in the mall is lame (mediocre, limited, pricey options).  This seemed like the next best option.  I quickly learned they do try to load up the calories.  Overwhelmed by options I decided to construct my own.  I picked the plain potato.  First they ask if you want butter or oil.  Eek, neither.  The the meat-I chose bacon.  I asked for a little.  They are willing to load it up if you want it. It's smokey flavored.  I'm not a big fan of smokey flavor.  Then, the vegetables.  They let you put unlimited toppings on. They only put a little broccoli on.  It appeared frozen previously and/or overcooked.  The jalapeños are so hot even though they are roasted.  I picked them out.  I then opted for the cheese sauce and cheese on the side.  It was about $8.  It was large and only a small portion of the potato was black.

My $3 fountain Diet Coke had about half an ice cube in it and not much fizz.

Would I go back?  Maybe if I was looking to eat something unhealthy.  I'd go for the fries with toppings.

The man (probably owner) was helpful and patient. It's a cool concept.  I'm sure teenagers like it with their fast metabolisms and no ice in the soda.

  2. Always a hit!

I usually go to the NYC location! Had to come for a rare appearance to the Staten Island mall for my kid to go to build a bear!

We were with a bunch of people and I talked everyone into trying one of my favorites and it was a freaking hit.

We were able to get a bunch of various dishes and literary everyone we were with loved it and was amazed that they never heard about this place.

    Must try!

  3. Not enough people express how they really feel….We just base everything off of what we see….Iv seen huge lines at the potato shop every time I'm at the mall….so why not try it out!

how can one not have love for fried foods?

    fried potatoes….fried sweet potatoes….fried steak potatoes…. fried potatoes pop…fried potato anything is amazing….right ?!?

I ate there once and probably won't be back… I really wasn't that impressed with the food….. It was decent…. but in no way is any small plate of frozen potato worth ten dollars….but then again ….You should form your own opinion….what 1 person sees as awesome food the next might think it's mediocre….I just think this place sucks….

  4. Yuck. I was so excited for his place as I am gluten free and a potato spot gives me an option at the food court at the mall. I work across the street so I am always here with friends who can eat anywhere. What I can have it pretty limited. Potatoes are ok for me so I was psyched.
I got a baked potato. It was enormous. The size of a foot. It would have been better if the potato was smaller and had more flavor. It was relatively flavorless- probably because it was so huge. It was also kind of hard as far a texture? Maybe it was not cooked enough? Cooked too long? Left to sit too long? Not sure but it was not cooked right and it felt like lead in my stomach. I did not digest it well at all.
The toppings were sort of good, but the potato was so big that you ran out of them before you even ate half of the potato. The guy put the potato in the oven to melt the chees but it was only melted a little.
Ultimately it was gross. I am tempted to try another kind of potato there, like au gratin or something. If I do I will update my review. But for now- baked potato was GROSS!

  5. After seeing countless Instagram photos raving about this potato chipotle (does that even sound right?!) I decided to try it for myself.  Obviously not about to trek into Manhattan to try some french fries, I wound up in Staten Island Mall deciding between Qdoba and Potatopia (because there's not Chipotle, why?!).

Potatopia is this little kiosk with a kitchen, I could have mistaken it for a cell phone case kiosk, to be quite honest.  It's on the second floor with all the other food court booths.  I had french fries with all their toppings ('cept the spicy ones!) topped with bacon aioli and parmesan cheese.  To be quite honest, it almost felt like too much.  It really was too much of a way to dress up these fries.  They were overdressed.  They were the fries that wore a suit to a beach.  They were the fries that showed up in a prom dress for the sixth grade school dance…

It tasted like too much, maybe it was my fault because I put too much, but how did I know?  The fries were way too much.  I felt myself gain five pounds just from looking at it.
