Tried the grilled chicken cheddar…and you got to get the hot peppers! Delicious, quick service around lunch… i came about 12pm. if I could just be a little nit picky I would say, I wish they spread the toppings out a bit more so I can get chicken, hot peppers, lettuce, etc in every bite… towards the end I tasted all my hot peppers at once….
Potbelly is a Chicago-based sandwich shop, but a national chain with locations across the country and even Europe & the Middle East of all places, lol.
And although I've been to several locations here in NYC, I might like the Financial District location the best because of the space and it's usually less crowded than the other locations.
My Rating is really 3.5-Stars, but I rounded up for a variety of reasons:
1. They're fast, so if there's a line, it moves quick
2. They scoop bread from the roll if you want less
3. They toast the sandwich so it's warm & crispy
4. The space is big with a lot of tables to sit at
5. The cookies are excellent
6. The prices are relatively cheap
If I want a cold, more basic sandwich (turkey, ham, roast beef, etc), then I usually go to Jersey Mike's across the street, but if I want a warm, toasted sandwich, then I come to Potbelly where I get the grilled chicken & cheddar, which I think is very, very good.
So, if you want a higher quality, warm, toasted sandwich, served fast and relatively inexpensive, come to Potbelly, it's perfect for that.
3.5 stars. Came here to grab lunch during the work day after receiving a "Buy one get one free" coupon. Tried the Italian sandwich, which was surprisingly really good for such a fast casual place! Definitely add the hot peppers to your sandwich-gives it a good kick. The coupon also advertised a "birthday special," which we claimed for one of our friends. The staff was quite confused about this but in the end turned out the special was a cookie. Staff was super nice and good-natured about everything!
I love Potbelly in general. I was first introduced to it in my hometown (Chicago). I came into this location on Monday afternoon. I ordered a Wreck on flatbread, but this time, added an oreo milkshake to my order.
I was a little skeptical at first, since milkshakes can sometimes be a little too milky. But I was desperate. It was a little hot, and I had a sore throat that could not be tamed. So I wanted to try drinking sometime cold to sooth it.
The wreck was amazing, but the milkshake was BOMB. for only $3.50 you get a really thick milkshake that came with little shortbread cookies around the straw. It was such a great experience. I want one now, so bad, but I am really trying to cut down on the junk.
Oh well. Maybe next week 🙂
I was afraid that the sandwiches here would resemble those of Subway (yuck!), but I actually really enjoyed my pizza sandwich! I am a fan of the combination of sausage, mushrooms, melted cheese, warm toasted bread and a ton of other ingredients – super flavorful! If you're one to enjoy an extra kick of spice, be sure to ask for red peppers. Normally I don't like eating sandwiches on a cool winter day, but this hot sandwich was just the amount of heartiness that I needed. The portions are also just right for lunch. I am not in a post-lunch food coma, nor did I create a huge mess while eating a hot sandwich at my desk. For less than $7, this was a solid deal for lunch!
Low-quality, high-price, small-portions. Just about everything is about what you'd expect from a forgettable place like Subway, only slightly "better" but a lot more expensive and everything is smaller. When PISILLO is nearby, where every single ingredient is fantastic, and the portions are gigantic, I'll never return to Potbelly's — I was disappointed different three times — but their pickled peppers (with celery & carrots) are pretty tasty (and available separately).
My go-to place whenever I don't feel like paying $9ish for Jersey Mike's for an Italian sub. It became a huge turn off for me after the one incident where they gave me multigrain rather than regular. Didn't think multigrain would be such an impact that I haven't been back in awhile.. However, the pickles are great over here! I would always order a pickle on the side.
I WISH POTBELLY EXISTED IN QUEENS.
'Twould give Subway a run for its money.
My favorite part about eating sammiches from here is the fact that everything doesn't fall out after I try to take a bite. Prettttty satisfying and filling, all for ~$6.
