  1. I come here for one thing, their Bacon Cheddar Chicken Sandwich. It's so good. You may be deterred by the long line, but it moves really fast.

  2. This location is odd.  At some moments of day, it will be really busy.  You will wait 15-20 minutes to get your sandwich.  Then 5 minutes after you get your sandwich, there will be nobody else in the place.  Odd.

Anyway, I haven't had PotBellys in a while so I figured I would go all out.  Get the Bigs A Wreck sub with double meat and BACON.  Oh yeah.  Waited in line for about 5-10 minutes when the guy who asks what you want and what kind of bread called out to me.  Seems like the people who put the extras (lettuce, tomato, etc) on your sandwich were holding up the line.  I could see the sandwiches popping out of their conveyor belt toaster, stacking up.

Anyway from ordering my sandwich to paying the cashier took about 5-10 minutes.  Overall 20 minutes to get a sandwich.  Not so great if you're in a time crunch.

Sandwich was good, but I was a bit disappointed that double meat wasn't really double meat.  The bacon was good, but wasn't thick cut like they advertised it to be.  And having toasted the bread – maybe it was stuck on the belt too long – the hardness of the bread caused it to scrape the upper part of my mouth, like Captain Crunch cereal.

So 3 stars.  Better sandwich places around that are more efficient and provide a better value.

  3. Stopped by here for one of their "big" sandwiches since I was pretty hungry, but was informed they were all out of the big size. That is a little hard to believe. I then went ahead and ordered a regular size. There was no one else in line in front of me. Service was very slow. I had to walk out since it appeared I was being ignored. Wouldn't want to visit this location again.

  4. I was craving a sandwich and stumbled upon this place. The Mediterranean with chicken certainly hit the spot. Service was below-average to average – they didn't seem happy to be there or care that I was there. If I'm ever in desperate need of a sandwich in Midtown West I might consider stopping by again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so.

  5. Good sandwich, decent service.

We only went here because my fiancee is from Chicago and it is a staple over there. She longed for a piece of nostalgia and it was exactly what she wanted.

I though the sandwich was just OK however. Not that it wasnt good but I am in the greatest city on earth with unlimited dining choices. Needless to say I would not come here had it not been a chain that sparked that feeling.

I have in-n-out, some have white castle, some have potbelly. To each his own!

    Enjoy your sandwich!

  6. Potbelly is Chicago-based sandwich shop chain that is big in the Midwest and has been making inroads to the NYC market.  This location is a long narrow hole in the wall on West 56th between 5th and 6th Ave.  This place is build for speed: you get in line and someone takes your order on a tablet device, which gets the order started by one team.  Then after the sandwich comes out of the conveyor belt oven (like Quizno's), there is a another team that finishes off the sandwich prep and then you are off to the register to pay.  Very nice if you are in a rush.

How are the sandwiches?  Potbelly is by no means artisanal gourmet, but the food is definitely a big step up from Subway, Quizno's or a corner deli / bodega.  I often get the chicken and cheddar sandwich.  It definitely does the job.  The food is good, the service is fast and although there is not much seating, this is still a regular go-to lunch spot for me.

  7. I lucked into this place and I love  it! Their chili is to die for an chicken salad sandwich equally as good. I guess with a name like Potbelly's who could go wrong. I have only ordered out so I am not sure about inside the restaurant but the food makes it entirely worth it. Give it a shot if you get a chance.  You won't regret.  Another Yelper said "the hot peppers are the best add on". I totally agree.  Thanks for reading and enjoy.

  8. Great lunch spot in Midtown!

Oreo Shake – If you're a fan of Oreos, you'll love this Oreo shake. Comes topped with two mini Oreos.

Chicken and Cheddar Sandwich – Everyone in line before me ordered the chicken and cheddar so I gave in and tried it out. I added mushrooms, mayo, lettuce, tomato, hot peppers, and pickles. The hot peppers really elevated the flavors in the sandwich. Least to say, I found my new lunchtime staple.
