  1. Potbelly is probably the most solid sandwich place in the Rock Center food court. Every sandwich I've tried is tasty, especially the meatball sandwich. The setup is pretty efficient – you order as soon as you walk in to the place, and by the time you get to the front, your sandwich is already almost done.

The one downside is that a line often does form that stretches outside of the door. It still moves fairly quickly, but you might have to wait an extra couple of mins. Still not nearly as bad as Toasties.

As an added bonus, if you work at Rock Center and show them your Rock Center discount card, you get a free cookie. Score. Also, the staff is friendly (opposite of Just Salad).

  2. From 12 – 2 PM on a weekday, this location is teeming with businessmen and businesswomen who work in the nearby offices. The line will frequently stretch out the door, but they always have a cashier on hand to take orders for the line and it goes very quickly. Maximum wait for a sandwich is 10-15 minutes. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Their panini-like sandwiches are filling, rather inexpensive, and quite good. Not a spectacular meal but it will absolutely get you where you need to go. Make sure you add lettuce, tomato, onion, and an array of condiments once you get to the head of the line (I recommend the olive oil and Italian seasoning option — makes a basic sandwich into a delightful one!).

I will say, a fun and very inexpensive treat are their shakes. Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry or oreo these milky (not extremely thick but rather thin) shakes are $3.20.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced, decent meal in the Rock Center area, go to Potbelly. Although there are really no seats, so expect to fight for seating in the concourse area near Starbucks. Or take it to go.

  3. Very busy location on the concourse level of Rockefeller Center. You need to enter the building and go down the escalator.

Although it's crowded, they keep the line moving. Service was friendly.

I had a roast beef, but I would recommend the Mediterranean that I had on a previous visit. The roast beef was pretty standard except for the toasted bun. The Mediterranean is more distinctive in flavor if you like vegetarian sandwiches.

There is very limited seating in this store, but the courtyard area of Rockefeller Center has tables, although those were also crowded on a Saturday afternoon. Unless you are specifically  visiting Rockefeller Center, I would recommend trying another location that is less crowded.

  4. Okay sandwiches at reasonable prices, especially compared to other places in Midtown. The line moves pretty quickly even during lunch time so don't be dismayed by the long line. Someone takes your order while you're on line so your bread and meats are ready for customization by the time you get to the counter. Their original sandwiches are under $7, under $8 for the bigger size. I ordered the original Wreck on multigrain wheat bread ($6.40). The Wreck consists of salami, roast beef, turkey, and ham so there was one thin slice of each meat. The sandwich itself wasn't anything special and their toppings and sauces are standard (lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, mustard, mayo, etc.). You definitely get what you pay for here — you're not gonna get an amazing sandwich for $7 in Midtown.

  5. I work nearby and this is one of go to lunch places in the concourse.

My friend had a bad experience on seamless, and the manager betsy and the team went above and beyond to rectify the issue.

The chicken salad sandwich is my favorite, if you like spicy opt for jalapeño.  The sugar cookies are so good!.

The line may look long, but it goes fast.

If you work in rock center use the priveledge card and when you buy a sandwich, you get a free cookie.

  6. I love Potbelly.

This particular location did not disappoint. Although the line was super long, it moved very quickly which is credit to the workers there for being efficient.
I went with my go-to sandwich which is the Italian with thin-cut bread but for some reason, when I reached the end of the line, my sandwich wasn't there so one of the employees quickly noticed and had my sandwich made right away and the best part about it was that they gave me my sandwich for free for the inconvenience, mind you I waited maybe an extra 3-4 minutes. I was upset at that moment if only because I wish I had ordered a bigger sandwich and gotten it for free.

Either way, great experience at this Potbelly location. Will go back.

My only overall gripe about Potbelly in general is that I wish they put a little more meat into their sandwiches. Hence the 4 stars and not 5.

  7. Potbelly is a part of my work lunch rotation as it's filling and cheap (at least when compared to other lunch spots in Midtown). I love their Italian (Capicola, mortadella, pepperoni, salami, and provolone cheese) on regular bread. Since extra meat is only $1.00 more, I always opt for extra meat in my sandwich, making the sandwich even better. It's my favorite sandwich here and the only sandwich that I order. All together, you have lunch for under $10!

Potbelly is also known for their oatmeal reasons cookies!

  8. came for lunch to try but i'm not sure im a huge fan just yet. i had the meatball sandwich, full of meat which was A+ on their part! but at the same time, lacked any real exciting flavors. will be back to try some more though. the sandwich was a good size and i'm surprsied the prices aren't too bad either.
