I am a diner fanatic! I come here on a regular basis for breakfast or lunch. The food is always terrific and the portions are large. This isn't just your typical eggs and burger place. Prestige Diner steps it up a notch especially with their breakfast menu offering everything from Oreo Waffles,Banana Nut Pancakes, Walnut Raisin Pancakes , Apple Cinnamon Pancakes, and every kind of omelet combo under the sun, or your little heart can imagine.
This time I came in for lunch and I had their Enormous Greek Salad with Grilled chicken it was so delicious. It had cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, lettuce, kalamata olives, tons of feta cheese all over which wasn't salty, stuffed grape leaves, an entire grilled chicken breast cook perfectly, and of course that great Greek dressing with plenty of oregano! I am married to a Greek and let me tell you, I've had my share of Greek salads but this is one of the best Greek salads around. They don't skimp on ingredient .
Hubby had the Jersey classic Taylor Ham Egg and Cheese on a Hard Roll with what else fries!
The Taylor Ham was grilled right and the cheese was melted and oozing on the roll.
The fries were golden brown and lightly salted and hot the way fries are suppose to be served. The desserts are amazing so you might want to leave some room. I had coffee and it was strong and I had our waitress keep bringing it.
From the minute you arrive you will always be greeted with a smile, and a friendly face. You are immediately served water without ever having to ask for it which is refreshing. Our waitress knew we were hungry when we arrived so,she gave us about 5 minutes before she came over in case we would like to order right away which is good if you have a short time to eat. If you come on weekends there is a wait but it moves fast. Limited parking in back or on street .
Prestige Diner is one of those places that is just doing it right! This is why I keep coming back.
Nice ambiance (a bit too nice for a diner honestly).
Price is adjusted accordingly, a bit higher than the mainstream diner.
Pancakes are decent. BLT is stacked high.
Coffee is a plus here, smooth and freshly brewed and the wait staffs come by often for refills.
On the way out I noticed that most people ordered salad here, which goes better with the whole ambiance. So next time, I am coming back to try their salad.
I love going to this place. I am a great cook, but I'm lazy so omlettes are usually beyond my energy level. That's where the Prestige comes in. We've done dozens of different combinations of ingredients and have enjoyed all of them. One of my pet peeves with eggs is when they are over-cooked/rubbery, and we've never had that problem here. I only wish they were open 24 hours so I could grab an omlette at 4 am!
Went here for dinner last night and I must say I rather enjoyed dining at this diner. It was a very cosy atmosphere and the service we've had was great. The prices were very fair for the area and we enjoyed the food. No complaints here, except the hostess was a bit sassy, but that did not make or break our experience here. Overall, I like this place and if we are in the area, will return.
I'm a huge fan of classic diners and this really fits the bill. It's family-run, they have a huge and diverse menu, and they have tons of fresh desserts. I particularly enjoy getting breakfast at diners, so I tried a few over easy eggs with sausage. The eggs were very good, but the sausage was pretty bland and had a very fine texture (not my favorite at all). I did try a slice of German chocolate cake for dessert and the slice of cake was cheap, huge, and very tasty. This is a decent diner overall and while it didn't wow me on the first go around, I'll definitely give it another chance.
I don't go to diners for seafood, steaks, meatloaf, triple decker sandwiches or mile high pies. For me, there is only one meal to be had-Lox and onion omelette, well done home fries and rye toast with a good cup of coffee. I've had this very same meal at dozens of diners throughout New Jersey. From the horrifically bad to mighty fine.
Prestige makes a really good omelette. Nothing that would make your eyes roll back in your head in delight but really good. Same with the hash browns and coffee. The place is always crowded and the service is usually adequate.
Like Yelp says, "A-OK."
Pretty standard diner with your usual selection of breakfasts, salads, burgers, etc.
Decent selection of kids meals, complete with drink, handful of mains (choices) and cookie/ice cream dessert. The mac n cheese bites were a real hit–the shape and size of chicken nuggets, easy for kids to dip and eat.
Pretty standard omelettes, all priced as you'd expect with a nice array of choices and a make-your-own option.
Beautiful pancakes, plain or with plentiful fill-ins–Oreo, chocolate chip, blueberry. Golden brown and fluffy.
Pretty crisp fries hit the spot.
Not a spectacular diner by any stretch, but good enough. The attentive, friendly service and clean vibrant atmosphere give them the benefit of the doubt. They roam about constantly to refill water and coffee. The host staff roams about to backup the wait staff to ensure you don't have to wait on extra ketchup, napkins, to alert your server, etc. That service really makes you feel comfortable (I'm looking at you, Ritz diner!)
Ample enough parking lot.
They could use a bench or some seats in the "waiting" area, as it tends to get a bit crowded on for the weekend breakfast and dinner rush.
Best diner in NJ? This isn't Tops, but it's a solid local establishment.
I feel obligated to preface that I grew up going to this diner. My family's Sunday ritual included attending Mass and then driving a somewhat circuitous route home so that we could stop in for breakfast/brunch at the Prestige. My outspoken and inviting personality of a mother soon became friendly with the Greek family that owned the restaurant.
Over twenty years later, with the establishment's matriarch "Bessie" retired, the business is successfully run by her two sons (Jimmy and Harry). They care deeply for creating a friendly atmosphere, for preparing quality food that's a step above general diner fare, and for ensuring the highest level of hospitality and service. And, if you're still unconvinced, the daily specials will undoubtedly summon your saliva: Nutella stuffed French Toast, Huevos Rancheros, and Almond Croissant French Toast are among the rotating selection of specials.
Though I live in Philadelphia, any opportunity that brings me back to the area I grew up requires a meal at the Prestige. This morning, I met with friends for breakfast before heading over to the PGA Championship. I am generally loyal to two entrees – the bacon/cheddar omelette or the eggs benedict. Today, I opted to indulge in the extra hearty triple eggs benny. As I've come to expect, the eggs were poached perfectly with the ideal ratio of hollandaise sauce. Very rich, but oh-so-worthy of the calories.
As we left, I made sure to shake hands with both Harry and Jimmy and quickly converse about our respective families. It's telling that despite their sustained success with the diner (completely renovated 6-8 years ago) and their recent acquisition of another property, they have not lost their spirited nature, sense of humor, or humility.
