  1. I sampled a lunch special earlier today. A burger, fries, and a soda was $11 with tax. The Israeli who took orders behind the counter was rude, unhelpful, and his English was poor. Service was presented hastily and without a friendly word or smile; this was highly unpleasant and off-putting.

My order was prepared relatively quickly, although the management permitted two beggars who were obviously mentally ill and menacing into the dining room, which detracted from my ability to enjoy a meal in peace. The food was overpriced for what it was; the burger was of the frozen Meal Mart patty variety, the bun had the texture of having been frozen and then thawed, and the man who prepared the burger also spoke highly poor English. I clearly specified that I wanted garlic mayonnaise and pesto on my burger; the ticket said Thousand Island, perhaps a testament to the illiteracy of the staff here, and Juan (his name) behind the counter had an attitude when I told him that I asked for garlic mayo and pesto, his scornful answer being, "You don't want Thousand Island?!" The fries were frozen, as the cardboard box with the OU on the curb outside indicated, and my request for onion rings in lieu of frozen freeze-dried potatoes wasn't honored.

Furthermore, the garlic mayo had a watery consistency and little creaminess, and the pesto sauce I was served had a strong flavor of cilantro, not the subtle fragrance of basil, pine nuts, olive oil, and garlic one should expect in a pesto sauce.

I have no intentions on returning to this establishment. They need to learn how to cook properly, but my intuition tells me that the simian nature of this neighborhood's black-hatted inhabitants will keep this dump in perpetual business.

  2. Their hamburgers with hummus are very good. But it is a very high priced hamburger.. But it is also Kosher. So if you are willing to pay a lot for a hamburger and want kosher it is definitely worth it. But quality is great. As for their shawarma I had it with a friend he said he has had better. I enjoyed mine. Again the prices were high but it's Kosher and Kingston Ave. Staff was friendly.I was lucky when I came it wasn't packed usually when I pass by there I live on that street it is swamped and one probably wouldn't be able to find a seat.
