Stopped in after seeing it from the car, compared to everything else in the area this is brand new with flat screen tvs and a fancy interior.
They have HH from 4-7? If im not mistaken M-Th. $5 apps, $5 sangria and $6 mojitos. I had a glass of white sangria, that had maybe three tiny pieces of fruit in it….not awesome.
Ordered two apps, the empanadas and this mashed potato with chicken salad on top of it. They came out looking nice. The empanadads were nice and flaky but Im not sure worth paying for. The other app was just bland and I didnt quite understand it.
Will I come back? Probably not, hopefully this place will tweek its prices to fit the demographic in the area a bit more. If entrees were priced more reasonable rather than trying to be a fancy theatre district restaurant Im sure they would get more clientele from surrounding areas. Until then I think this is a place thats trying to change a slowly changing area too fast. What this area needs is a relaxed area bar where people can come to watch sports or just chill out. If Im in the mood for a fancy steak, Ill head downtown to Wolfgangs where I know Ill pay the same price but better food and better service.
Also for having a full bar, one would think they would have beers on tap? I can go down 20-30 blocks for better priced beer.

I'm not sure the need to post like 50 some of these comment cards, perhaps you should encourage some of these people to write yelp reviews rather than paper comments. I'm sure I'm not like every other ny-er but I rely in yelp to tell me if a restaurant is worth going to or not. The fact that you have the need to post all the cards only tells me you have too much time and not enough confidence in the establishment . Instead of being rude to people that review the restaurant negatively you should encourage them to come back. Why fight a force that can dramatically change the rating? Other places that have responded to me and given me a reason to go back , most of the time I've found something positive and edit and review it better . New places are hard to get the pick up but this restaurant might be a kick start to changing east Harlem, who knows . But maybe my two cents isn't worth much anyways.
The latin (Cuban style) cuisine was tasty; the space is intimate but not obnoxious. I talk about the space because, there's a bar parallel to the dining area separated by a narrow "landing strip. The servers are very attentive and I enjoyed my food. The empanada is good the next day, I warmed it up and it was good! Tip: don't wait to long to eat so you can enjoy your food!!
So what can I say about this place? Well for one, we ordered the nachos for brunch, and after 20-25 minutes of waiting, the nachos came out cold and the cheese was dry and fake. We took one bite of th nachos and requested our money back. It's been about 20-25 minutes and we have not not gotten our main entree yet.
Update: it's been about 30 minutes and we still have not gotten our food. And then the waitress had the audacity to ask us "is everything okay?" As if the water she served us 20 minutes prior had satisfied our hunger.
Update: 35 minutes and we still have not gotten our food. So def not coming here again.
Update 40 minutes: a friend of ours fully finished shopping before we got our food.
Finally got our food. My salmon plate came with a cold bagel, a huge, hard slab of cream cheese, and salmon, also the service was lacking.
I am bookmarking this place as to remind myself to not come here again.
This review is for the brunch. My friend and I stopped in after target to get a bite to eat on a Sunday afternoon .
We stopped in after seeing they have decent yelp reviews and it looked cute.
Points for the fact that the place is cute, has a nice outdoor section, cheap $3 brunch drinks and friendly waiters.
They lose a few points because the service was super slow despite it not being too crowded. Also the food was pretty meh. I got steak and eggs and my friend got eggs Benedict. Wasn't gross, but wasn't good by any means. Very plain and nothing I would get again.
I would have given 2 stars but I liked the drinks and the fact that they were cheap. Food was definitely overpriced, especially for the neighborhood and the fact that it was bland.
Stop in for drinks, but skip the food!
* review for happy hour and apps only* 3.5 / 5
A cute bistro and lounge just off the beaten path but clearly popular with locals, including a number of D-list celebs. Crowd is an interesting mix of young professionals, neighborhood families, and rachet hangers-on. We came on a Monday night for a MeetUp social; Happy Hour was quiet at first but we didn't mind because we were able to chat and mingle. Their specialty cocktails were great, especially the coconut margarita. Call cocktails were another story – our boys were drinking Ketel One Martinis with a Twist and they were sent over dirty with olives every. single. time. Once we put down to forgetfulness, 3-4 times is appalling. Our waiter was great though and made it right without giving us a hard time.
Food was serviceable. We shared a few apps. Guacamole serving was laughably small but a look and a "really, dude?" got us some extra. Crispy calamari and shrimp were not the best I've had, but decent. People at other tables seemed pleased with their mains.
The most "wtf?" moment was when Chrissy Monroe from Love & Hip Hop traipsed in decked in fur head to toe and parked herself at the bar with oysters and champagne while they played her show on 6 of the 7 big screens. I'd give a place 5 stars too if they boosted my TV ratings (see her review from 11/12/14).
I'd check it out again if I'm in the area, but wouldn't make a special trip for it.
When my cousin convinced me to take the ride uptown to prime one 16 I didn't know what to expect. What I found when we arrived was a very tiny yet surprisingly lively (for a Monday night) restaurant. The place was packed with late 20/early 30 something's who come here to eat, drink and dance to a mix of 90s r&b and up current hip hop hits. They actually play music videos on the large screen above the bar so it was cool to see some of the visuals that went along with some of these songs I hear all the time.
It didn't take long for me to realize that I was in Love & Hip Hop Heaven. Some of the screens were showing episodes of the show and Chrissy Monroe (cast member) was hosting at the restaurant that night. Another random happening that night was some members from the Iconic Hip-Hip group "The Diplomats" randomly making an appearance. Needless to say this place made me feel like I was I the old East Harlem and not the "new and improved" East Harlem. The vibe here is Chic and Ratchet at the same time. Chic because they serve relatively expensive cuisine similar to any upscale steak house in NYC and because the staff is dressed like they work in a high end hotel. Ratchet because they play loud music and the vibe is more like a small nightclub then a restaurant. I think they know who their target demographic is and from what I see they do a good job of catering to that.
The Food: Typical NYC steakhouse fare here plus some latin inspired options (it is "spanish" harlem). I had the Filet Mignon sliders appetizer and the arroz con pollo entrée. The sliders were tasty. They were topped with chipotle mayo, grilled tomato and caramelized onions. The meat was seasoned nicely and the toppings provided good combination of flavors. Although I'm pretty sure they are not using Filet mignon at this price point, it's a pretty good appetizer. Next up was the Arroz con pollo which was comprised of pan roasted chicken, rice with pigeon peas topped with guacamole and a side of plantains. The problem with this dish was that the rice was undercooked. I mean really undercooked, it was quite hard. I had to send the dish back and they quickly brought it back out with thoroughly cooked rice. When I finally got the dish the way it was supposed to be served it was a good entrée. The guacamole on the rice was a nice touch. The chicken although not particularly moist was seasoned really well and had a great seared texture on the exterior. Overall I enjoyed the flavors of this dish.
Despite its major misstep, Prime one 16 does have some good qualities. Although the food is nothing special, it's definitely enjoyable. It does a good job at offering a lively and festive environment to enjoy a drink and a meal on a week night. Personally I think Ricardo Steakhouse just a few blocks away is superior to prime one 16 in the areas of food and ambiance so I probably wouldn't choose prime over Ricardo but that's just my personal preference. Prime gets 3 stars. I consider it to be average in comparison to similar eateries. I would probably say 3.5 without the rice mishap but they corrected it quickly so I won't deduct a full star.
