  1. I really wanted to like this place. I really did. But if you're looking for good food with decent service, clearly this is not the place to go.

After a 45-minute wait (which you should expect), my husband and I were finally seated. We were very excited as we perused the menu, while waiting outside. After we were seated, we were left alone with our menus for almost 10 minutes. Nobody came by to give us water, or ask us if we would like to place a drink order. We tried to get the attention of the server, to no avail. My husband then asked the busboy if he could get the server for us. She arrived, took our order and we waited.

The avocado toast we started with was nice, the grilled tomatoes were delish. But my iced coffee took another 5-10 minutes to arrive, and my husband was served a half-filled carafe of coffee.

We both ordered the burrito bowl and were very disappointed. It was also served in a cereal-sized bowl. The pulled pork had no flavor and there was just no seasoning at all to the dish. We tried (unsuccessfully) to get the server's attention to get some hot sauce and more coffee. We saw other patrons being seated and offered water immediately. The table next to us ordered a burrito bowl and it was in a much nicer bowl that seemed appropriate for the dish.

All in all, the service was super subpar and the server did not check in with us at all while we saw her check in with others. I was hoping for a good brunch spot on the island, I suppose I'll continue to look. Don't waste your time.

  2. Project Brunch?….more like Project HAYADOIN'?!?!

Ever since my Yelp BFF (Vinny U) told me about the new buzz around Staten Island & showing me pix of this breakfast delight- I was on a mission to indulge in this rare Staten Island treat.

Located on the corner of a small shopping center you can easily spot Project Brunch when driving up the road. Upon pulling up to this place you can tell its new, fresh & cool- having large eating utensils as door pulls. Walking inside its the same as the outside, nice size (a little small for the crowd that attends) but when seated you're not directly on top of the table next to you. Decent amount of tables & a small counter area to sit also.

The service was good.  I'll be honest – nothing that wowed me but nothing bad either. Yes, it's a busy place & I guess the staff is still working out some kinks but it's all good. Bottom line we were greeted by a nice guy, took out order, served our order with absolutely no problem & received out bill.

The food?…this is the reason you go out to eat! Places , like this, that actually make you think "when can I come back here" or "next time I'm trying…" While you're eating your meat at that moment in time is what going out to eat is all about. When you get that dish and say "wow, how do they make this " – that's enjoying a meal out. Not when you go out & say- "I can do better".

They take comfort breakfast food & add an delicious twist that gives it the project brunch touch. See pix for everything we ordered- everything was amazing & everyone was more than satisfied ! The portions are very generous.
And the prices not so bad.

Strongly recommend for people to tap that bookmark icon.

PS- I recommend STEAK & EGGS

  3. After learning about this place, I thought hey why not try it a little later in the day on Sunday.  We arrived at 1 with a wait of an Hour and Half! I said, excuse me..  I attempted to give the girl my number and said call me when you get close to my name. She said No sorry we don't take numbers.. What!! There were people all over hanging around, no seats to sit and practically no where to stand. Everyone was Leaning on other people's cars. Disastrous! We left and took a ride and came back. We finally got seated after Two hours of waiting!! I'm so glad I really wasn't hungry. Also I hope this food is really good!  As we were waiting around we met the manager, saw the two owners from the back.  We also saw some guy hovering around which we think was associated with place.

I must say the design is cute but small. We were seated, but unfortunately people were hanging over us. They really have no where to stand while waiting for a seat themselves. We looked at the menu and picked out what we wanted. We were really Surprised they didnt have some of their items. It's a Big mis step not to make enough product for the day.  Anyway we settled on their "signature Project bec" I am assuming it's going to be something good.  This item comes with home fries. We also wanted to order a frozen smores shake.  Granted knowing this place is fairly new we had patience, but after two hours we are losing it.  After 20 minutes waiting for a waiter to greet us we couldn't wait and we had to ask for one. The food finally came and Man we were so disappointed. Burnt home fries, A mushy waffle, the eggs were not properly cooked, cheese was not melted.  To top it off it had a long grey hair!! YUM! If this is a signature dish Boy that's really upsetting!!  The Smores shake although cute was watered down, the marshmallow tasted like the torch they burnt it with.  SMH really disappointing…

So the big question is your eating off plastic plates. Do those plates go into garbage? I hope so. Are they washing them and reusing? EWW.. If they are throwing them out, which is the right thing to do.. What a really big waste!

Would I recommend this place? I think you know the answer!

  4. I came here with a friend for a 10am Sunday breakfast. Was told the wait was 40 min, but we pleased to have been seated (at the bar) in 20. We ordered what was recommended by our waiter- the Cinnamon Toast Crunch French Toast and the Tiramisu French Toast. The flavors were good, but if you are a restaurant that boasts about brunch, then you should not serve DRY white bread french toast. And if you cared about the environment or customer experience, you would use proper china instead of cheap plastic plates one would use at a picnic.

  5. I still have tears of joy in my eye's while im writing this lol, idk how im gonna put in to words how good the food was !!

Have you ever been to a place where you enjoyed the whole experience so much that you wished you brought a pillow and blanket because it was so amazing that you just wanted to move in and live there ?? Well i just found my Restaurant home :- )

Project Brunch just opened a couple of weeks ago and its already made a big splash all over the island , everyone is talking about it .It definitely lived up to the hype and then some !

Dropped the kiddies off at school and decided to have a big boy breakfast by myself , btw I've learned how to feed my self 🙂 look ma no hands hahaha .

Soon as i walked through the door there were 3 waitresses waiting to seat me "How you doin?" 😉 haha , anyway i was seated immediately and requested coffee ASAP .

The Waiter brought over a nice large Java Mug and a side of milk and a HUGE thermos full of delicious Lavazza coffee so i can refill myself as i please. The coffee is perfect !

Now it was the hard part , WHAT DO I ORDER ? HMMMM ok since i wanted to try more than one thing i ordered the cinnamon toast crunch French toast and also the Project BEC because i figured why pick one when you can just write today off as a cheat day lol

The dishes came in about 10 mins or so and both looked amazing , i decided to start with the French toast but 3/4's in to it i was stuffed so i wrapped up the BEC to go for work . But of course i took a bite before wrapping it up 😉 and it was just as good as it looked if not better . Both dishes were delicious and bursting with flavors my taste buds didnt know what hit them .

Also the service was phenomenal,  the waiter stopped by everytime he passed by and asked how everything was and if i needed anything , (thank you kind sir but im as good as can be stuffing my face at the moment) lol

When he brought over the check , i told him that i wanted him to tell the chef that everything was sooo good that i wanted to hug the chef hahaha.  Wellll a minute later as im getting up to leave , i see 2 chefs walking over to me 1 male and 1 female and they said "hi we heard you wanted a hug ? " i started cracking up and said " yesss because i loved everything and im so happy you opened up on this side of the island" she then said " well we always love hugs so bring it in " lmao we hugged it out and i thanked them for being so awesome as people and as Chefs . Lmao everyone turned around and looked at us as we hugged hahaha.

Ok bottom line is , theres a parking lot , its in a nice quiet area , the food is delicious,  the service is phenomenal and the prices and portions are perfect .

Way to go Project Brunch , your Entire staff Rocks !! Keep up the great work and i wish you nothing but success and happiness with the business 🙂

  6. Really amazing food.  We went on a Sunday 9am (they open at 8).  Tables from opening were clearing and it was a 10 minute wait.  They sat us in the corner near the bathroom, and they were 3 flies, which were there too.  Our waitress was excellent, and told us there was nothing they could do the flies come in when the door opens- yes but the huge fan they have in the opposite corner has them lingering in the opposite corner.  ( maybe add another fan) The food was pretty terrific and the service was probably the best on Staten Island- thanks to our waitress.  The owner was coming around and checking on the tables as well.  We had the chive waffle and egg combo, the Belgian waffle with strawberry and banana.  Our son had the pancakes which came with a drink and fruit- great deal for $5.95!  He took home most of it, but I can see where if you had a few children it would be extremely reasonable.  Parking not so good- the lot was full, since many spaces are allocated to the other businesses in the plaza respectively.  Can't wait to return.
